  1. I don't see North Dakota deviating too much from the style that they have played for the last 20 years. Our core recruiting grounds, although expanding, remains Minnesota, Wisconsin, and North Dakota. Those areas it seems will always produce more bruising lineman and backs than they will uber-athletic QB's and flashy wide receivers. Surly we will get some gems from time to time, but I think it is the program's goal to have a balanced offensive attack that has the ability to take advantage of any opposing defense's liabilities. I also like watching power football and stingy defensive play.
  2. 7 Days, a.k.a., 1 WEEK............................
  3. I wish more bison fans felt like you did..................................
  4. That's because those were the facts.................
  5. By all accounts, Bresciani and Kelley work well together, and have alot of respect for each other and more importantly for the NDUS as a whole. Something neither of their predecessors were noted for....................
  6. It is quite early to be talking about a new nickname, given the fact that we legally cannot have one for another 3 years, and also I'm confident that the likes of Reed Soderstrom, Sean Johnson (the bad one, not the good one), and Frank Burgraaf will likely throw a wrench into the process at some point. But looking to the future, here are my favorites in order amongst the many that have been put forward: Reapers Fighting Saints Cavalry Nokotas The biggest problem I have with Cavalry is that we certainly be known as "The Cavs".................. Nokotas is an intriguing and unique name, but I fear the logo would end up looking something like this, only with a green hue to it:
  7. Nakota is a tribe. Nokota is a horse.
  8. I welcome the discussion. I've grown tired of the North Dakota-NDSU "pollgate" threads. Is it just me, or is a blowhard from Montana much more likeable than a blowhard from Fargo?
  9. You are right that the depth and quality of the Big Sky is infinately higher than that of the Summit. NDSU will definately have a much much easier road to conference sucess in the Summit.
  10. The point is that there are 5 sports at North Dakota that can draw fans: Hockey, Football, Men's basketball, Women's basketball, and Volleyball. I've made the commonality argument for 5 years or more. UND sports fans are already at times a house divided. I think it is very good for fan interest that the fans who grow to hate Montana St. football can also grow to hate Montana St. basketball and volleyball.
  11. Portland St. and Cal Poly are both at home and they both match-up well with North Dakota. Montana lost a ton on defense, had a coaching change, has undergone the off-season from hell, and travels to Grand Forks. Hardly a gimmee for them. I've never understood all the love SUU gets from fans around the Big Sky. And for you to think more highly of them than Cal Poly baffles me. Realistically, I think North Dakota will be favored in the following games: SD Mines Portland St. Cal Poly Northern Arizona Southern Utah Northern Colorado I think the Sac St. and Montana games could go either way. EWU and MSU are poor match-ups on the road for North Dakota. I was thinking the opposite of you in regards to whether or not it is a bad year to break into a new conference "with what we have returning". We only lost a few key pieces on a very deep defense, and return virtually the entire offense in addition to upgrading the QB position. It is an exciting time to be a North Dakota fan.................
  12. I'd be glad to go back to Memorial Stadium................................as long as they put a roof on it.
  13. Oh, please, don't kid us. That is the point of every post you've made in this thread thus far. I don't know? Does it?................................................
  14. Given the quality of their team combined with their weak sauce schedule, I think Cal Poly will definately finish in the top 3 of the league at worst. It is just that they are good match-up for North Dakota. I give the edge to the home team. I'll acknowledge that teams get mixed up from time to time. But what is actually downright delusional is the fact that NDSU fans as a whole can't accept the possiblity that last season's 8-3 conference champion North Dakota team could have possibly received poll votes based on their own merits. For some reason, NDSU fans think that the only plausible way that a 8-3 conference champion North Dakota team could possibly spend virtually an entire season as a ranked team, and at one point be ranked in 3 different polls, would only be because the vast majority of the voters meant to cast their votes for NDSU. Almost a year later, NDSU fans are beside themselves over the fact that North Dakota made the polls last season. Delusional................
  15. If your "side" would have "won", you would have gloated because YOU have proven to be rude, obnoxious, and inconsiderate. The way that YOU have conducted yourself proves it. Your "side" did nothing but spread lies and misinformation throughout the entire process, and they continue to do so today.
  16. If the transfers pan out, it makes this team much deeper than it was a year ago...........
  17. I really want the "Idaho to the Big Sky" thing to happen. IMO, with Idaho and North Dakota being the "book-ends" to the Montana schools, it would do wonders to stabilize the most attractive Big Sky schools for many years to come................................
  18. There must be a couple other home games as well then, if we are travelling to Hawaii..............................
  19. Thanks to the TV deal with the NCHC and CBS, I'm thinking this upcoming season will be the last where North Dakota football and basketball will be able to be regularly found on a national outlet like DirecTV.................
  20. 52 of 53 counties in the state voted to retire the name. Neither of the counties where either of the tribes vote was the dissenting county. On what basis could you still possibly offer that the Native Americans of North Dakota support the University continuing to use the name and logo?
  21. Agree. I'm always the optimist and I think North Dakota has a chance to win all of these games, but I'm also a realist. It doesn't matter who the FBS team is, they will always be tough to beat. I like our chances against Montana at home this season, not so much against the Cats on the road. I know EWU has a good track record, but for some reason, they don't really strike fear in my heart...............
