Who is your favorite Sioux hockey player and why?
siouxtatoo42 replied to Prpichrocks_19's topic in Men's Hockey
WOW, i never thought i'd hear that name again. He was my coach in my first year of bantam hocket in east side. I can honestly say he was a good coach, but he was 10-15 yrs removed from the glory days and still lived in them. Still had the gold chain through the pimp chest hair and a half bottle of cologne on!! He was a nice guy and a good coach, he made it fun, didn't ride us too hard if we knew we screwed up, and wasn't afraid to tell stories(hockey or jersey chasers!!) -
um, it was 2 v 15......

kind of a disturbing love of one single player ya got there -
is it just me, or was Goren an expected scorer when he got here and it took that long for him to come out of his shell?? correct me if i'm wrong, but i remember that being the case with him.

but veterans are veterans, they've been there and done that. A lot of teams don't make it far due to youth, or take longer to gel due to youth, and when you throw in the emotions and win or go home aspect of the playoffs, youth shows (if they even make it that far). what propelled the wild as far as they went that magical year was a)nobody expected them to make it that far, serious underdog roll. 2)stellar goaltending with manny and roli (veterans) D)young hard working talent playing out of their minds 4) Veteran leadership helping the young talent keep their focus 5)lucky bounces.
-
remember though that a good number of those nobody's were veterans that nobody else wanted. now he's trying to do it with 19-23 yr olds that nobody wants, with the obvious few exceptions edit: maybe not that nobody wants, but aren't ready for full time NHL playing time.

let's hope that Holy Cross "excercised the demons" "can you feel that Goldy, HUH HUH HUH HUH" "this house.......is clear" ace.

I have only been to one game since the X opened, and it was a good game (they played columbus, so it was two crappy teams squaring off, thus entertaining and competitive). The only reason i went was the see the building and walk around before and after.(oh, and the tickets were free). I have no respect for what the owners are doing and could not bring myself to spend my hard earned money on that product. If i wanted to pay 100 bucks to watch most teams AHL talent (gaby and rolston and manny aside) i would. If i want to spend 100 bucks to watch some of the elite hockey players in the world from the nosebleed seats, i would go somewhere I knew my 100 bucks is going right back to bring in the best talent they can afford. Not just lining the pockets of the owners.
-
with the way the owners handled the off-season spending with all the free agents on the market, do you honestly think that they care if the fans show up as long as they've paid for their ticket?? I don't agree with it, but I'm sure they don't care. They are all about the almighty dollar. Put the shi!!ist team on the ice for the least amount of money allowed by the league, crap all over their superstar, and take the money of all the unsuspecting minnesotans because we know they love hockey and are willing to pay most anything to see a game. PROFIT$ PROFIT$ PROFIT$

sawz-all and cordless drill would take no time at all.

can't resist from Tommy Boy Ray Zalinsky: Prp, send over a bottle of bubbly in a bucket of ice and a card. Have the card read, "Tough luck, get drunk on me. Use the bucket to ice down your marbles, Yours, Z."

it'd be interesting to see what would happen to that thread as far as favorite for me, teeder wynne, toby kvalevog, oshie, toews, duncan(by way of my daughter) dane litke, ian kidd, mark lembke, zach, travis zajac, and to goon it up i need pivetz, commodore, and archibald. -
althought this is the likely senario, i still think it would be fun to throw those 6 or 8 perennial powers into a league for a season and see who comes out on top. other than that, i would like to see the wcha stay the same, if not, add BSU and steal tOSU and let the rest fall where they may (AHA)

#1 because it's entertaining as all hell to read some of the things you have to say regarding kessel, and i enjoy it. not because i agree or disagree with you, but because it's impressive to see 5 pages of you and bucky going back and forth with such a fervor. It's nice to see that kind of passion in college hockey fans. #2 those not in the know could see he was going to be a headcase before he got to this level. He's still a good player, but not worth all the hype.

and some need to be a little less "thin-skinned" when someone challenges their information. Plus it is easier to bask in the glory of good news and write off the bad news. human nature is to throw up a wall to protect ourselves from the bad. it's not the amount of posts, it's the amount of credibility a poster has when throwing something like that into the fire. Everyone that's posted here has been jumped on one time or another. Most of them still post here.

SEE!!! troll
-
you aren't the first one to tell me that today. You are a tool for jumping all over sioux-cia for what she posted, and again, for sticking up so valiantly for 8wbgr8. Add to the above bolded, i lumped myself in with everyone else here that bashes whoever for whatever reason (like THETRIOUXPER and his undying angst for kessel) I stuck up for sioux-cia because she is an avid poster and more often than not, pretty entertaining. so, i guess to be the bigger man, i apologize for hurting your feelings and doubting your sources. (and no i don't post a whole lot of "useful" information here, but that's not what this forum is entirely dedicated too. some of us just give our opinions and impressions of the game and it's players, which is ok by most people since that's what they are here to do too.)

I am 27, i thought it was funny, and it doesn't matter whose "former roomate" it was, unless it's family/coach or a press release, I don't have to believe it and i have every right to question the validity of the information being presented. It wasn't anything personal to 8 would be gr8, but you defended his honor as though he is your girlfriend and everyone said she had a fat ass. Maybe i don't want to believe that sparky is gone until i see that he is gone, maybe i like what he brings to the team with work ethic and hands and don't want him to leave for the reasons he may have to leave, maybe i have the right and the ability to argue with something that he can't back up. maybe i'm just an idiot. and as far as sources go, i can now claim that i heard from fs1 and 8wbgr8 that spirko's FORMER roommate said that he was going to europe to play in the pros so he can feed his family and sleep next to his fiance`. All with nothing to back up my claims!! thank you.
-
holy crap, i didn't know that tDon would let you post here, but then again mazacco, you are just a broadcaster!! Did you even see the same fight?? it was 5-0 for starters, it was the end of the second period, and i'm sure it was frustration on McMahon's part, but Vanelli was asking for it and he got it!! He was/is a huge pussy and deserved to get his ass kicked, regardless of situation.

WOW. I guess that i didn't realize that i was talking down to canadians, nor did i think that i said anything where i needed to be called an idiot. I just wanna thank you for showing me the error in my ways, and from voicing my OPINION. damn united states and their freedom of speech policies and nobody told me thatonekid was the OPINION POLICE. Sorry my viewpoint isn't the same as the OPINION POLICE. Hey, Orson, can you send me a copy of "The Official Policies of the Opinion Police" so I can guide my posts and opinions in the right direction so as to not have you calling me an idiot. Thank you.

i didn't get to see the piece that you all are talking about, but I can't see it as him slamming the americans, but trying to build up canadians. But we all know that he hates the euros and thinks that they are the worst thing for hockey. I have heard several rants on visors and stick work and he makes good points. The face shield wouldn't be needed if people weren't so careless with their sticks, which came about when face shields were put in place. He also blames the euros for the stickwork. I have always had a lot of respect for Don Cherry because he is an embassador for the game of hockey. You can disagree with his fighting policies, his hatred for the euro's or his love of the canadians, but he is all about the kids, all about the game, and all about the game being played the right way. I think he is good for the game of hockey in that he does say what most people in the booth are afraid to say. I don't believe that his s&!t coaching record means he doesn't know the game, i think it means he is unable to teach the style he wants to play, but overall, he is good for hockey, not just the NHL, albeit, somewhat disagreeable at times. edit: I also think it's great that he gets after the millions of canadians watching about talking bad and not supporting the United States. I also love that he knows and states to them that we are the big brother, and we are the protector of Canada, and that no matter what they say, they know that they need us to survive as a country.
