  1. The word I heard is Jim Montgomery is who is on the top of the Maine coaching list. of course administrators are invovled so George could move ahead of Montgomery.
  2. Not sure why anyone would rather play Yale when they snuck into the tourney. Niagara was up to Number 7 in the PWR late in the season until Canisius upset them. My take: 1. I think it really hurts us to be in the same regional as Minnesota. Not because I'm scared of the Gophers but it takes the focus off Game 1. The boys need to really be focused on Niagara now. 2. We need to solve Chubak early. The longer Niagara goes and keeps the game close the more they think they can actually win. We are a much better team but we need to show it by scoring. 3. Everyone talks about Rocco. Rocco needs his hands to catch up to his feet. Either that or he needs to slow his hands down and not be so fast on the release. He needs to relax and let his talent take over. 4. If we get past Niagara I think we'll be playing the Gophers. Then I think the game comes down to penalty kill and power play. We need to be better than they are and that will be tough. This year the Gophers are huge and draw a lot of penalties cycling down low (the way a lot of Sioux teams used to). This Sioux team is not a physical team and they need to be patient when the Gophers are in our zone. Also they need to stop pushing everything into the high slot since it makes them so susceptible to odd man rushes when they make mistakes. This time of year if you are plus on the power play you usually win. I feel that this North Dakota team is more talented than Minnesota. We just need to let it all hang out and play like we did the last game against Tech where the focus was shots on goal. If we do that and get decent goaltending we make the Frozen Four. First Niagara. And what the heck is a Purple Eagle?
  3. Does anyone have any idea how Minnesota State (#11) got switched with Union (#12) so that Union plays BC in Providence rather than Mankato? Mankato and BC should have been paired together (6 vs. 11) and when they moved North Dakota/Niagara to Grand Rapids they should have moved Mankato with BC not Union. Can't be for attendance purposes since Union only averages 1900 at their home games. Drive versus fly excuse? Net result is BC gets to play a 12 seed rather than an 11 seed supposedly an easier game for them.
  4. I have two tickets in section 116 Row 10 Seats 5-6 available for Thursday nights game at the Final Five. Seats are behind the players bench. Asking Face value. email me at stack58042@gmail.com if interested. I will be at the games Thursday so I can meet to give you the tickets someplace close to the X. I prefer a bar Same tickets are available for the Friday afternoon game.
  5. Should have know better than pick snake bit Rocco
  6. Rocco Grimaldi
  7. Player of the year should have been Walters. Coach of the year could have been either Hastings or Motzko and it didn't really matter. Also not to sure about Jake McCabe on the third team. Jensen was the best defenseman I've seen all year.
  8. [quote http://www.buckys5th...ers-nick-jensen .
  9. Sweet! Thanks for managing this.
  10. So how bad does this make Jutting look? New coach and the next thing you know they are 8th in the pairwiise. not a great time for Mankato to be on a roll when we play them the last series of the year. Oh well.
  11. Sorry but I disagree. Bjugstad has the potential but hasn't shown it consistently. With Ambroz, Budish, and even Issackson Minnesota has big boys this year with Bjugstad being the biggest. These guys do the molesting and not getting molested as you state. I was surprised that he came back this year expecting him to get pulled up by the NHL. I am constantly looking for more from Bjugstad and I seldom see it. He is still too passive most games and it looks like he tries to turn it on and off rather than playing at a high level consistently. Net result he still has potential and is not one yet one of the best players in college hockey.
  12. This past weekend I was disappointed overall that we didn't win a game but I definetly saw Hakstol's point about the improvement of the team. We finally saw Grimaldi as we expected and Caggiula was very good. I was not happy with the Macmilan brothers and it look slike the defensemen have not yet picked up Berry's game BUT... We could have won both games, in MInnesota, on the big ice. Heck we are still 6th in the Pairwise. I have said from the beginning of the year that the Sioux have the ability to win a national championship this year. We're going to find out in the next 6-8 weeks if they can come together as a team and use that ability. With 12 games left and our tough schedule I don't think we're going to win the league. Omaha has a very easy schedule and if they don't get upset by Bemidji and Tech they should win the league. But I don't care this year. I want us to be peaking at the Final Five and roll through a regional. We've already played 5 of the top 14 teams that would make the tourney today. Most of those are splits but I think we're getting better. Enjoy watching Kristo and Knight and Grimaldo and watch us get on a roll now.
  13. Bugstad is a horse with his size and very hard to get off the puck, but you can't barely average a point a game (he averages 1.04) and be considered the best player in college hockey. He is currently 20th in scoring. He disappeared for a third of the games so far . He has the potential to be great but I seldom see the desire. In the Final Four last year he was awful on the biggest stage. He may become a very good pro due to his size but he is not the best college hockey player so far this year.
  14. I plan on doing this after we win Friday http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GIeWjLC_SB0&feature=player_embedded
  15. You focused on the defense I focused on the offense. Minnesota is number one in the nation scoring 3.82 gpg. North Dakota is number six scoring 3.45 gpg.
  16. Not sure why anyone is really being negative about the Sioux chances. The only advantage I see for Minnesota is the big ice and the propensity to get the calls in their own building. Sioux have 2 of the top 3 scorers in the nation, veteran team this year forwards and defense. They have already played BU and Notre Dame and now it's time for Minnesota. 5 on 5 Sioux win both games. Throw in the power play though I'm guessing a split. Traditionally in Minnesota the Gophers have twice as many power play chances as the Sioux. If for some reason power plays are equal both nights, Sioux Sweep! I'm looking for Grimaldi to break out this weekend, use his speed to set up a couple of goals and score a couple too. These games should be high scoring and entertaining affairs but Sioux win Friday and then we'll see what happens Saturday. Remember the old adage: Win Friday, Sweep Saturday.
