  2. Pretty rare jersey my friends. I seen it last night and it looks great. The sale of this jersey goes directly to RELAY 4 LIFE. This jersey was donated by a Fighting Sioux Mom. We've all been effected by Cancer at some point or another. It's a great token of support for this worthwhile cause.
  3. Thanks NDH for the words. This event is shaping up by the day. There is a total of 12 celeb's confirmed for this event at this point with scores of invites out to over a hundred. Donations are highly appreciated. Please send me a PM if you are interested in participating as a team or individual. Please e-mail to oshie@wiktel.com. A chance to golf w/ former, current and future NHL'ers and try your luck on Lake of the Woods with a NHL or Olympic Legend. There will be a large contingency of Fighting Sioux alumni playing in this event. It will be a who's who come August 18th. A "For Kids Sake" Auction will be taking place the evening of the golf tournament where several NHL Legends autographed jerseys will be dispersed and many other valuable items available in silent auction.
  4. TJ Oshie' name won't be on any of the promotional material of this event. And if you can remember, the Fighting Sioux Athletics calendar in 2005-06 was loaded w/ athletes pix and names. His name is listed on the board to give it identity of where he came from. Thats all.
  5. TJ Oshie is helping out at the tournament. If he plays, the family will pay for his fees, etc. He participated in several events last year in GF and the same held true back then. No free lunches. It is the Oshie's way of giving back to the community of Warroad.
  6. Spent MN State HS Tourney, WCHA 1st Round, WCHA Final Five and Western Regionals w/ the family and had fun thank you very much. Spent time at Denver frolicking w/ fans, ESPN staff and the such. It was a blast. St. Louis will be a trip of a lifetime. Have fun and see you at the R Inn.
  7. Isn't the bride coming w/ you? Attitude was referring to "not going in the beginning of this thread only" and nothing else. Thank God you've finally seen the light. I'm going there, too, to simply have fun and watch these kids. Anything else would be uncivilized!
  8. " Leaving tomorrow morning, see ya'll in St. Louie. " It's about time you get w/ the program. Can't believe you would even think about not going to this event in St. Louis. Thank God the Fighting Sioux faithful called you out just like the "tractor driver" did opening this forum. I think now you can rest easy knowing that Osh and the Boys will be playing the weekend of their lives. For UND, for the Fighting Sioux name, for all the crazy fans across North America, and all the siouxsports personalities who passionately follow this team, and for, most importantly, for each other down this stretch run. I call it destiny that these young men have came together at the right time. You and I stuck by them back in November and December knowing that they would play the best hockey of the season down the stretch. "You are remembered for the things you do at the end rather then at the beginning." Just ask Minnie and St. Cloud. If you bring your "A" game along w/ the Cape who knows what our boys can do. I know BT is bringing his "A" game and the fixings. Make sure you check your attitude at the door. You know I will. The Phantom
  9. Triouxper ... you can't let "The Boys" down when you've single handedly got them back to the Frozen Four. All the chicken wings, onion rings, NCAA Western Regional burgers at the Moon, cases upon cases of Grain Belt Premium in the g'rage, season tix and the list goes on. You will regret it the rest of your life if you don't watch these kids one last time together. C'mon Man. Make your plans now to meet the pack down under the Arches. And I don't mean the golden arches of McD's.
  10. Below is a response back on December 11, 2006, after all the Sioux faithful had jumped off the bandwagon. I'll say it again ... Keep The Faith. "The UND Fighting Sioux Men's hockey team will be just fine folks. Don't the undies in a bundle. It's a marathon and not a race.Osh and Toews will get back on track in terms of point production then look out. You seem to forget they're sticking the top defenders on both of them and usually shadowing and double teamming them. Just like last year when Stafford and Zajac were the big scoring punch and they struggled a little bit early too. This coaching staff is the nation's best. Hakstol & Company will have these boys playing and hitting on all cylinders as the year progresses. Let's not be fair weather fans and bust these kids up. We play in the greatest conference in college hockey and games are ususally a dog fight. That's good. That is what you want. Playing high caliber teams, night in and night out and competing. That is what builds chemistry .. character .. passion. These boys will be there in the end. Don't be surprised if #8 is hanging in the rafters next season after the Show in St. Loiuie in April. Have faith!!!!" These kids are the most resilient group of athletes I've ever seen. Good Luck Boys.
  11. I also second this post. No one should be blamed for calling the GFPD unless there is solidified evidence that this person did it. The report will come out but no one should be publicly blamed at this time. The pot shots by several people are laced with emotion, I realize, but should dissolve like this thread. Let's focus our emotions on a solid winning streak down the stretch. The Fighting Sioux will be stronger because of this.
  12. Plain and simple. The Fighting Sioux chemistry is off right now. Split up the Triple Threat Line so each line has one of them. Put Toews, Oshie at center and Dunc's at wing. Each of the first three lines will have a scoring threat every time they are on the ice. Chemistry is what makes a franchise. Right now it's not there. Can't be fair weather fans. Must stick w/ your team through the adversity. Every poster acts like they've played hockey at UND. Don't you think this situation keeps Hak and the boys in the "war room" rather than at home w/ family. We dearly miss the players that signed in the off-season. Without a doubt, UND was hit hardest by the early signings. Do you think we miss Parise? Zajac, Stafford, Smaby, Spirko, Prp to finishing off his great career. Ladies and gentlemen. Sometimes things take longer to re-coup when you lose so much talent and more importantly, leadership. You're only as good as your leaders. By putting all three (Toews, Oshie, Duncan) on three lines you've created a marquee player on the ice most of the game. Our defense have spells of brilliance then the exact opposite moments later. But that's hockey. Obviously Phil is struggling. The staff has given him every chance to get back to his stellar self but injury really hurt him a month or so ago. It's game timing. Phil will get back to where he was. But now he needs to do it watching Greico or Walski. Either one could step up. It's healthy to challenge each other. Now is the time for a change. Every program goes through it at one point or the other. How fortunate were we to have JPar for those 3 years. Regardless, this is not our problem folks. I heard Hak tell Tim H. in the pre-game on Saturday we close the locker room doors and discuss our plan to get back on track. Trust. You have to have it at any level of elite sports. Trust that it will get better. When it does the tone of this board will change. Have faith Sioux fans. These kids are winners. Sometimes things take a bit longer to create. These kids will prevail in the end.
  13. Hey, I like this little man they call triouxper. Little is an understatement. This quack eats chix wings, drinks massive amounts of beer and takes this team on his shoulders. He's a clown that has serious Fighting Sioux fever. If all fans were like this dude that Ralph would rock every night they have a game there. This is essence of a hockey forum. You should see this guy in a white usa hockey t-shirt w/ red rings around the neck and sleeves. If you look at him from a distance you'd swear you are eye'ing down the lane at a "HUMAN BOWLING PIN". It's the absolute funniest thing you'll ever lie eyes on. I think he also sports a bald head.
  14. The UND Fighting Sioux Men's hockey team will be just fine folks. Don't the undies in a bundle. It's a marathon and not a race. Osh and Toews will get back on track in terms of point production then look out. You seem to forget they're sticking the top defenders on both of them and usually shadowing and double teamming them. That is what builds chemistry .. character .. passion. These boys will be there in the end. Don't be surprised if #8 is hanging in the rafters next season after the Show in St. Loiue in April. Have faith!
  15. The most thrilling moment of my life came in March of 2005 when the Warroad Warriors won the MN State Class A Championship in 2OT over Totino-Grace, 4-3. That's when TJ Oshie beat the TG man on the draw, dove for the puck and slid it over the Aaron Marvin while TG goalie was trying to poke check Oshie. Marvin caught the pass and one-timed it in for Warroad's only perfect season at 29-0-2. It doesn't get any better then the MN State Boy's HS Hockey Tournament. It is the most watched state tournament in America and gets better every year. The Xcel Energy Center rocks during the entire 4-days of action. If you haven't been to one I recommend you make it. All the former NHL players who played in the State Tournament and won Stanley Cups always say the MN State Tourney is the greatest experience of their lives. I have the DVD of this game and would like to show it but not sure how to do it. If anyone could help me shoot me a message.

    NHL Fight

Boy, this thread sure is heating up. First of all, the thread is NHL Fight. Fighting is legal in the NHL. Why, because it eliminates the crap. It eliminates you going after our franchise player. It means maybe we need to settle something that started in the Western Hockey League, NCAA or even minor hockey. I don't know how old the gentlemen is who's brawling w/ my boys TheTriouxper and PCM. Let me remind everyone on the fighting front. Fighting was as big a part of the game of hockey then scoring back in the 70's. What's even more hilarious is both were very privalent back then. Fans came out to see the best take on the best inside the realm of the hockey game and the back alley cats going toe to toe. Now, the Board of Governors have finally realized the kids these days are extremely talented and highly skilled athletes. That's why now the obstruction and other calls are penalties whereas a couple years ago a simple good defensive play. The video shown on this thread is a solid fight. Two men, the player who was drilled, actually started the fight. The Wild player simply finished it. Nothing more then that. Will it fuel another crack between these two, probably, but it is taken care of right there and right now. I've played this great game for over 35 years. Still play, but coach more then anything else and watch my sons play the game at a high level. I'm not a REA typical fan. I have more at stake then that. But what I will say is hockey has survived everything from line and bench clearing brawls, cheap shots like Dave Forbes on MN great Henry Boucha and the Pertuzzi incident. Yet, it has and will forever survive. The beauty of the college game is to see the immense skill these kids have. Yet, they still can't take the stripes off a tiger. If you played the game long enough I'm sure you were challenged. Hopefully you accepted the challenge. Win or lose. It's about claiming stake to what you believe in. Also, don't compare football to hockey. Football takes breaks after a :05 to :10 second play. Hockey is continious action. Football you are allowed to rest :35 after every play. Hockey, you skate until you can't feel your legs anymore. Comparasion? When you do sit-ups as fast as you can and you have that burning sensation in your abdomen, that's the same feeling you have after a long shift. Baseball. Please. Those guys are throwing wild haymakers that very rarely ever hit. My father told me something as a young kid. He said, "Son, don't criticize thy neighbor until you've walked a mile in his moccasins." Simply put. You don't know the slightest about this issue. Nor should you be popping off when you have no idea what it takes to be a hockey player.
  17. My condolences goes out the to entire Hangsleben family on Gordy's passing to the spiritual world. I never had the opportunity to meet Gordy but my daughter, Aleah, is his great-niece. From the stories I've heard he was a genuine man, father and husband. My son, who plays for the Sioux, was suppose to have met up w/ Gordy after the Gopher series this past January. Unfortunately, they were unable to cross paths that weekend. We've all lost close family members to the horrible disease of cancer. I went through a 18-month ordeal with my brother-in-law with brain cancer back in 2001. He died on August 3 then my father passed to the Creator on August 11, 2001. It was a very difficult time in my life yet I knew both men lived full lives. One too soon, the other, my father, a very rich life with his family. Take a moment of silence for one of the Fighting Sioux' Band of Brothers ... Gordy Hangsleben, #30.
  18. Can't we all just get along .... Rodney King. Who cares about Phil Kessel ... and all the other UofM products. They showed the true colors of maroon and gold at the Final Five and Western Regionals. UND could care less about the then, upcoming draft and such. UND is in the business to win National Championships and to bring in the top players in North America. UofM took Kessel I'm sure because they thought he could be the link to bring in a NCAA title. He proved his worth in the World Jr.'s and now 3-game losing skid at the end of the year. It's not how you start it's how you finish as to what people form an opinion. I watched PK in Lake Placid, Vancouver and throughout the season on FOX North. Is he a good player. Yes. If you're looking for a player who is self-centered on the ice. Look to see his 34 assists and I bet 25 are off his hogging the puck and shooting and someone knocks it home backdoor. How many tap in assists did he dish out. And what I remember about Vanek is primarily the same type of player. Not here to bash UofM but will tell you it's the best "TEAM" that wins and not the best players. I'm a hillbillie.
  19. How can you put Oshie on the second line when he was arguably the Rookie of the Year. Put either him or Toews at wing and make a super line. If I'm not mistaking, Oshie started the season on the 4th line and had to pay his dues.

    Hobey Oshie?

Most hi end Division 1 teams were recruiting Oshie. The factor came down to UND and Grand Forks being a small town which is what Oshie liked. Also, playing in the Ralph Engelstad Arena along w/ world class facilities downstairs played a huge roll too. Plus all the Warroad greats seemed to make the trek through UND to Olympic and NHL fame.
  21. Here is the link that will take you to INCH Post Season Awards. Congrat's to our Sioux kids. http://insidecollegehockey.com/7Archives/F...inchaa_0428.htm
  22. I currently have (10) tickets for the UND vs. Boston College Semi-Final game and (4) for the Wisconsin vs. Maine Semi-Final game too. Please let me know if you are interested. Please send message via siouxsports PM board.
  23. The post-season awards are political. No problem. Congrat's to all the Fighting Sioux players who were recognized. Everyone in the country knew Kessel was going to win ROY. It was determined this fall by the pre-season polls. Awards are special. But they should be awarded once the season is over. There's is only one award that is worth having; it's called a team award. Hockey is not an individual sport. Kessel loves the awards with the help of USA Hockey. They spend millions of dollars on the USDP and they have to promote and glorify. He's about him. Our kids are about the name on front of their sweaters and not on back. TEAM. That is all that matters folks. The awards and recognition means nothing w/out team. The McNaughton, Broadmoor and Frozen Four Trophy is what these kids play for. Did Oshie deserve the ROY? In our minds yes and also in 72 others too. What's even worse in Johnny not making All-Rookie. Ask any of our players and they play for one thing, the National Championship. GO FIGHTING SIOUX !!!
