Idk. We have four consistent lines, which is good, but our small, little plays and transitions on the ice hasn't inproved.
Our best game of the year I saw and in person too was Friday night against Miami. We got the D involved in the offensive zone and made great little plays for a full 60.
I think 27 and 8 need to get hot soon. Be nice if Jordan S. and Ladue could cash in a on a goal too, to boost their confidence.
27 is on a 5-game point streak. He may not be scoring goals, but he's contributing.

My biggest worry with this team is they still can't sweep a weekend against a top ten team. The last time we did was in fall of 2011 when we swept 4th rank CC, and that CC team didn't even end up making the tourney that year. The last time we swept a top ten team prior to that was at home against Duluth in February of 2010...five years ago. The good news is, we rarely get swept ourselves.
This year we have a great record, but haven't swept anybody decent at all. When it comes to tourney time, we have to figure out a way to beat 4 great teams, and unfortunately, I think it will end in heartbreak again. I don't want it to end that way, and I think our team can beat the good teams, but can they do it four times in a row. We'll see.
I remember someone a few years ago mentioning that one of the big trends in winning it all was keeping your losses under ten. We're in good position to do that, but have to take care of business.
To be fair, I think it's easier to beat two different good teams on back to back nights than to beat the same good team twice.

Schloss said the no goal call was correct. Parks interfered with the goalie's stick.

I've never considered Michigan much of a rival. Don't play them often enough and '11 felt like it was more us that lost that game rather than them winning it, if that makes sense? Plus they lost the next night to UMD anyways.
UMN, DU, BC, WISCO
Michigan has been more of a post-season rival. There was awhile when we ran into them every year in the national tourney (much like BC).
-
I'd also like the NCHC to not have anymore outdoor games.
They can have as many as they want in my opinion, just make them exhibition so conference points aren't on the line.

Brad Malone scores his fifth of the season ....with a penalty shot goal last night.
It's pretty awesome to see both Malone and Vandevelde excelling more now that they're on new teams.

Just looking at cost of flights, and hotels, don't think I can justify it. Figure in session passes because I'd want to see all the games, I'm looking at it costing as much to go there as spending a week in Mexico. I love my hockey, and hopefully Sioux will be there, but I'd rather have drinks on the beach in Mexico.
Yeah, that's what I figured out, too. It was looking to be almost $2000 for me to go, and I'm within driving distance.

Thompson actually gave periodic updates of the ride back on twitter. It was pretty funny.

Bucky scores with 1:13 left in the 3rd! 3-2 Wisco
Bahahaha Goofs!
It would appear we have a new culprit this time around. Siouxfan512, we're coming for you...

Zane didn't have his best weekend ever, but the D left him out to dry a few times, too. I'm not too worried about it since Zane has stolen plenty of games for us. He'll right the ship.
I have no problem with splitting against a top 5 team in their barn. Good weekend for the Sioux, and a good glimpse at the level of play they need moving forward.
I can't believe Ortega is only a sophomore. I feel like he's going to be one of those annoying players that seem to be in college forever.
-
Ortega sold it no doubt. Say what you want about the guy but he has 9 game winners this season. Not a fan of the guy though after hearing his post game comments.
I missed it. What did he say?

AZSIOUX started the game thread. And all is right with the world.

This is not an acceptable position, it's black or white on this site! So either fire everyone or give them raises after each game!
You forgot that every player needs to sit. We root for North Dakota because it's players are supposed to be infallible.
-
Name another team that lost the kinds of players that Wisconsin did after last season. Not an excuse. Just the nature of the beast. I'm by no means an apologist, it's just how I see it.
But at the same time, this is a repeat pattern for Eaves. It happens every 4 years. He could try to balance the four years a bit better with how he recruits and the timing at which he brings players in, but he doesn't. He's been content to be bottom-of-the-barrel every four years with an extrememly young squad. THat's only worth it if you do something pretty amazing during the years you're loaded with juniors/seniors.
-
Who sits? I don't think bringing in Murphy and sacrificing Mattson is a good idea. If Olson is ready to go, maybe.
Olson didn't make the trip, Simonson did.

Hey now that was just a little humorous jab:)
Haha so was mine. I viewed your title like saying 'sweep' or 'shutout' early. You may lose game thread privileges depending on the results of tonight's game. I hope you're prepared for those consequences.
-
I feel like the title of this thread will jinx us, and the 'wannabes' will win.

Agree with Legal Seafood being the best. Most people I know make a point to go everytime they're in Boston.

Per Brad, St. Clair took off the no-contact jersey for the first time.
-
LOL! Yea, what a doofus! Who was that who said that last night anyways?
I don't know, but I'd be surprised if he has the nerve to come back to this board again.
-
Thankfully no idiots jinxed him tonight haha5-0 final.
Stick salute!
Shutout for zane.
-
Overall, though, he's played well tonight. Moved the puck well.
Probably his best game in awhile.

Take one furta team.
Let's hear it furta boys.
That's one furta record books.
How furta I have do go?
I pre-furta stay at home.
I don't have to wear a condom because my girlfriend isn't furta.
I won't take this any furta.
Furta.
Pretty sure it's 'ferda', but I got a good chuckle out of that explanation!

Eaves post game comments:
"Much like puppies in a box they always want to get out, when they do something good you want to scratch them on the ear. Next thing you know they're crapping on the carpet. We crapped on the carpet tonight."
Gotta love the honesty.

I'm guessing we see Simonson before we see Olson, based on comments Hak has been making lately.
