The more I think about this, the more I come to the conclusion that the SBoHE has to take control of this issue. It cannot be left up to a statewide vote. You have the nickname supporters, the folks who want to see UND harmed and the ones who go to a voting booth without studying an issue and vote for it. That it a recipe for disaster for UND. I live in Florida and about 10 years ago, there was actually a vote for a constitutional amendment regarding pregnant pigs in a cage. I laughed when I first read about and obviously voted against it. It had no business being placed on the ballot. It passed and is now part of Florida's constitution. Maybe someone should start a petition that NDSU should be called the ______ (fill in the blank). Get enough signatures and put it out for vote. This whole fiasco is just plain stupid.

I took a peek this afternoon at the bison and bunny boards. There is obvious glee that the Big Sky may give UND the boot. What I don't follow is how they think UND is causing this. UND admin has not been pushing to keep the name, much to the chagrin of some ardent name supporters. The Grand Forks congressional delegation voted against such measures. It seems the majority even here on this forum are not in favor of keeping the name due to the damage it would do. I don't know what the mood is like about the issue in Grand Forks overall. Yet the overall tenor on their respective boards is how stupid UND is and how they are getting what they deserve. Are the dumb masses from those board reading what a few siouxsports people post and projecting that towards UND and all UND fans? Hey chuckleheads, UND and most UND fans are in favor of dropping the name and moving on.

You really have to feel bad for UND baseball, insofar as scheduling. UND has just released the 2012 schedule. 51 games. The first 26 and 31 of the first 32 are away. 16 total home games. Tell me again why there is baseball in North Dakota. psssst.... lacrosse.

I was listening to a guest on a radio station on the way home today and she was talking about the Department of Education implementing Title IX for academics. She said that the DOE official says that the mechanism is already in place and they intend to implement it. The "problem" is that there are more male than female in the sciences and they want to "even" it out. Has anyone else heard about this? I just deleted out my political thoughts on the general direction of this country, as SiouxSports.com is a non-political forum.
