  1. Nickname opponents to protest at Homecoming game

UND students and representatives from the American Indian Movement group in Minneapolis plan to protest UND's continued use of the Fighting Sioux nickname during UND Homecoming events Saturday.

The student group BRIDGES, Building Roads Into Diverse Groups Empowering Students, plans to protest from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday outside the Alerus Center before UND's football game against Augustana College, according to a news release.

    A post to make Teeder11 happy. :)

  2. And the plot thickens.....UND NICKNAME: Forum Co. opposes sealing of court filings

Forum Communications Co. will take legal action opposing a Grand Forks judge's order to temporarily seal legal filings in UND's court case against the NCAA, the company's management decided Wednesday.

Forum Communications owns the Grand Forks Herald and The Forum of Fargo-Moorhead, as well as Grand Forks' WDAZ and Fargo's WDAY TV stations.

“The sealing of filings in this case goes well beyond protocols established in the North Dakota judicial system,” Herald publisher and editor Mike Jacobs said. “It's bad precedent . . . It's not in the interest of the public or the media to allow an expansion of the right to seal court proceedings.”

  3. I was trying to keep the topic within the realm of reality. That talk has been going on in Fargo for several years already. You need to sellout the Alerus or at least come close on a regular basis before you start pie in the sky dreaming about a 30,000 seat stadium.

Weren't you the same one who said

The problem you guys are going to have is the capacity of the Alerus. Going to make it hard to payout larger guarantees and yet be profitable.

    How does that jive with

You need to sellout the Alerus or at least come close on a regular basis before you start pie in the sky dreaming about a 30,000 seat stadium.
You posed a question, I referred you to where to find the answer. ;)
  4. I could teach Mini Political Science, but right now, I'm too busy with Diggler's History of the World class. ;)

I'd sign up for that, but I'm too engrossed in PBS's "The War." I hear that Diggler is the next Ken Burns.

  5. For the right price, I'm available to teach PR 101, Media Relations 101 and Journalism 101. I can think of quite a few people who would benefit from more education in those areas. :p;)

Are you also available for a little Political Science, too. ;)

  6. Wow, that is pathetic! LOL. NDSU would beat UND this year, by at least 2 tds or maybe even more. Last time I checked UND doesn't have Rhett Bomar. And if the NDSU team that beat CMU showed up to play UND, NDSU might win??? HAHA, wow... if that NDSU team showed up against UND it would be 66-7. I hate these comparisons but there's always a few ignorant UND fans who always bloviate...

You hate them, yet your whole post is a comparison.

  7. Stay away from going to any either of the Montana Schools since they both apparently have no trouble of backing out of contracts to return games on the road. Montana burned SDSU and Montana State burned NDSU. Make them come to Grand Forks first.

Or have someone with half a brain write the contract making a buyout painful.

  8. So our future (UND) holds that we will still be playing the Moreheads and Crookstons of the area just paying them more......Great Idea....?

One of the things that has changed for both NDSU and SDSU is the increase in attendance. I don't think that having Crookston or Moorhead come to the Alerus every year is going to bode well for attendance. but getting UNI, Idaho State or Montana State will boost the numbers and make the money being paid to get them there well worth it.

  9. Buning's sudden departure causes speculation

Ralston doesn't really seem like the DI transition has any resource problems...

Ralston says that the Division I transition is just being continued and won't be affected by Buning's sudden departure, as many of the committees and departments involved had already been established by the end of last year. As to speculation on the reasons behind the leave of absence, she said, "I don't really feel it's any of my business or anybody else's."
  10. VIEWPOINT: Timing couldn't be worse to change nickname, logo
The Sioux are a great nation whose people settled on the northern Plains and have contributed so much to the development of this region. I believe UND and its respectful use of the Sioux nickname and logo is, perhaps, modern America's most powerful way to promote the history, culture and positive attributes of the Great Sioux Nation throughout the Great Plains and the U.S.
