Swearing is just the hot button issue for the NC$$ right now, much like the running onto the court/field after a big win is. Whether you think swearing is a problem or not, there are much more important issues that the NC$$ could be dealing with. They waste their time trying to regulate something that should be up to the individual schools, meanwhile you have things going on at Universities around the country like what is occuring at Colorado. Perhaps if the NC$$ would spend their time trying to stop internal corruption at schools rather than trying to prevent students from swearing and celebrating, some real solutions could be found and real problems could be solved.

I agree with Federov. I don't understand what the problem is. Students won't stand and won't swear. Lets move on and try to find ways to get everyone inovled in the games rather than wasting time discussing who should have to give up what. This isn't addressed at you SSSS, because you are trying. It is just that they are seemingly wasting time when something could be done right now. Everyone is in agreement about everything, what is the problem?

What compromises are the students supposed to make? I mean I thought they couldn't stand and couldn't swear? I didn't think that was negotiable, so therefore it wasn't a compromise. What else is left? Or is the standing/swearing what he is talking about? I guess I believe him, but it is like students have to keep giving things up in order for the administration to even agree to talk. While on the other hand, the administration doesn't give up anything. They only agree to do what they should have been doing in the first place. Silly.

What is the letter going to say? Glad you aren't making any threats or demands though. That might anger the old fart.

Either of those scenarios , I would be more than happy with. Wisconsin is the best of the other 3 in both of tehm. I'd like UND's chances despite the Massacre in Madion. Gotta like how both scenarios have everyone's favorite junior college playing Meeeeechigan.

Roger Thomas will meet, I have no doubts. And truthfully if Kupchella doesn't want to meet with you, so be it, go on without him. It will only reflect poorly upon him. He generally isn't very involved in sports anyways so while it would be nice for him to be involved, I don't think it is completely neccessary.

I agree with tbone, the most important thing is to make sure the administraion follows though on their promises. Also there has to be a way to get the general public involved in this. The more people involved the better.

I don't think students were that mad that they couldn't stand and swear. It was more that we didn't know what we would be allowed to do. That wasn't very clear. So outside of Let's Go Sioux and a sieve cheer, we didn't know what to do. Anybody know anything that might happen? The sooner it starts the better.

Unless they've changed since last year, the MWC said they can't sell tickets over the phone. You have to go there and buy them. So unless you want to wait, you might be stuck with ticket master.
-
Tickets are $14 plus ticcket master charges. There is usually a good number of Sioux fans there. Right now you can get tickets at center, behind the penalty box. If you go, get tickets in the 200's or 300's, as the 100 level seats are crappy if I remember right.

Well it's true. Megan Mutrie. Hubba hubba. They are a pretty good team for being in their 2nd year. Next year, I think they could be a middle of the pack team in the WCHA, maybe even stealing a point or two from the Gophers and Dogs. They do lose Stacia "Commie Hair" Backhit though.

Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor? HELL NO! You think they'd let us bring a sign in that said that? Or I could just jump up and down yelling TOGA! TOGA!

No, Flounder was the fat kid. Kent Dorfman. Otter was the guy who did the rant about how when you indict Delta House, you indict the United States and he wouldn't stand by and let them do that, I think.

I get to be Bluto? HOLY $H^T! HOLY $H^T! HOLY $H^T! My life is now complete.

OK, lets assume Blais says he wants the students to stand and while they are at it to swear like sailors on shore leave. So what? Blais can say that, but when REA/AD/whoever says "no, we still aren't gonna let them stand", what is Blais gonna do? Quit? How about they put a video of the players or Blais on the big screen asking the fans to get more inovled or something? It seems like that would be simple and I'm pretty sure they would be for it. They obviously like it to be loud.

The letter said that anyone swearing will be tossed and have their tickets revoked. The only way to get your tickets back is getting permission from the President's Office. But like other's have said, it isn't that we blame Kupchella. We are just really mad about the way he handled the situation along with the way he handles everything at UND. The man is just plain and simple a jerk. Students will never be completely kicked out of the arena. That just would not happen. Especially since they are doing what is being asked of them. Then again maybe I'm just being naive.

I know, I saw it and erased it on purpose. I really wish you wouldn't have said that because my point would've been more effective. Still I have nothing better to do with my day off, so I said it anyways.

Some people in section 106, I think, start Let's Go Sioux chant about once or twice a game. So while not alot, the general public does start some cheers. Assuming that the students try to do meetings again like they did a couple years ago, what is a good way to get the general public involved? I think one of the reasons it didn't work last time was that the general public was never involved really. Missing 1/3 of the equation won't make it very likely to suceed.

THere is no doubt both games should be televised. This is going to be the biggest series of the year. Stupid WDAZ.

How dare you compare the Immortal Andy Schneider to that punk Hrkac?

Wow. I hadn't even looked at this thread yet, much less posted in it, yet I am right. Thank You. I really wish I would have bought tickets for the UMD series earlier. I think they'll be tied going into the series and probably tied coming out. What a great series that will be.

I thought the corners had less seats, that is why students weren't moved this year. If we are behind the Zamboni entrance, we have to have less seats because of that big hole that the zamboni's come out of. How do petitions work? Do they have to be official or something? Even so, Kupchella can not stop the petition from being done, could he? Whether he likes it or not, we have the right to have it. Maybe we wouldn't be able to do it at REA, but we have to be allowed to do it. Jim, if Kupchella would be a bit more pleasant about things, there wouldn't be a problem at. This complaining and anger is focused almost exclusively towards him. He is just so standoffish. But the heck with him, he wasn't involved a couple years ago and he doesn't need to be involved now. REA and the Athletic Department will work with the students I'm sure and students don't really have a problem with them. And if they will use all the fancy doo-dads that they have, things can work out very well. If they don't though, things are much less likely to work out.

THe whole problem with swearing is because of what happened down in Alabama during the FB game. ESPN told Thomas they couldn't broadcast the game with the amount UND students/fans were swearing. I think the students should be moved too. The problem is that they should be moved to the corner where UND shoots twice. This probably won't happen though. So when you have the choice between center ice seats and seats on the end UND shoots once, center ice are still better no matter what their flaws. Standing really isn't that big of a deal I guess. I just want everyone to work together so the games can be fun. It seems like having fun isn't allowed anymore though. Yeah I agree Goon. Only problem is that suprisingly, I don't seem to have much pull with rich Alumni. So I was just speaking on things the students could do.
