  1. Does anyone know if the university will be selling tickets to Friday's game? I didn't expect North Dakota to be in Worcester so hadn't prepared. Now I'm competing with BU/BC fans ... Thanks.
  2. Just got an email -- they have computer problems in Madison and are working on it. (DataFlix.)
  3. Is anyone else watching on DataFlix? It won't connect for me.
  4. I just want to figure out how to get good tickets in the Sioux section with the other Sioux fans without having to fly back to North Dakota first to be on the charter. Ideas? Are tickets being sold separately at UND?
  5. I know what you mean (about being amazed at how many people all over the place seem to know and appreciate the Sioux). I wore a 2000 NCAA Sioux Hockey Championship T-shirt into a Ben & Jerry's on Newbury Street once, and the guy behind the counter gave me a free ice cream cone. I also saw someone walking up the stairs in Section 37 of the bleachers a week and a half ago at Fenway Park (Sox/Yankees) wearing a "Sioux Football" T-Shirt. I was one of the ones yelling, "Go Sioux!"
  6. I've lived in Boston now since '88 and really just love it. I love being able to walk everywhere, and on days like Marathon Monday (Patriots Day) when the Boston Marathon is run, or when the Sox are playing the Yankees in town, or when the Boston Pops are performing at the Hatch Shell on the 4th of July nothing is better or more "Boston." The rich history here is also second to none -- in my opinion, at least. Now if we could just teach everyone how to be friendly like North Dakotans (and teach them all how to drive ... and talk), we'd be in business. I'm also loving the smoking ban here, too -- although I know that's a hot topic for many. I was at the Frozen Four this year, but was feeling under the weather (flu/fever) so didn't stay out much to meet many of you who were in town. I wish so much that that hadn't happened (plus, I had just had all 4 wisdom teeth pulled 5 days earlier). I've enjoyed reading about where you all went and what your experiences were. It's always interesting for me to wear my Sioux jersey here because everyone assumes I still live in North Dakota (I took a few jabs from fans supporting other schools -- "Bought your tickets early, huh?"). I love being from ND and wouldn't trade that heritage for the world. I was lucky enough to be sitting a row behind other Sioux fans during the games and had a great time visiting. (Others in the near vicinity also yelled the signature "Home of the Sioux!" at the end of the National Anthem, which I thought was fun -- it was hard not watching the Sioux skate around after that, though....) An Ohio State fan did tell me that one of the attractions in Columbus is that it's the home of the "Original" Wendy's ... Hmmm.
  7. Learning the news yesterday immediately brought back the sad, horrible thoughts I'm sure we've all had about how it must have been for Dru during her last moments. I pray for all of you, and for all of her other friends and family, so that you can all somehow find peace after enduring this tragedy. Today's Boston Globe's headline about finding Dru was: "Body of missing student Sjodin is found in N.D. Ditch." I assume that is a mistake since even the article itself (the Globe ran an AP article by Dave Kolpack) sounds like the body was found in a ditch near Crookston in Minnesota ("near a road northwest of Crookston"). That's correct, right? The Globe should know of their mistake. How very very sad.
  8. From Calgary's website: I just flipped over to the Calgary game after watching my Bruins win in 2ots (High Five to Goon!), and thought I heard the announcer mention Commodore's name. Good news for Mike. Kobasew, Leopold and Commodore all on the ice for the Flames tonight.
  9. Yes, I think he's publicly said as much in interviews and his Top 5 lists of college arenas and so forth. I am looking forward to seeing BU's new arena next fall to see first-hand how intimidating it will be to opposing teams. Chris Bourque (Ray's son) will be playing for the Terriers next season so it should add to the excitement level there. Nothing compares to seeing the Sioux at home, though. EDIT: I guess the arena might not be ready until January '05??
  10. http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/hockey/s...7p-155734c.html Don't know if anyone posted this before. There's a "Notebook" blurb at end/bottom about Zach and about how he's eligible and eager to play if called upon...
  11. Ryan Bayda scored a goal tonight against the Bruins (his 3rd of the season).
  12. My sincere condolences to you and your family. I wish you could hear all of the wonderful things all of Otto's other colleagues have said about him, too. Everyone is in agreement that he was the nicest, caring man they have ever met. If I can obtain my company's approval, I will try to post an article that was written about Otto and posted on our company's intranet site this week. Please take care.
  13. Thanks, redwing77 -- you're absolutely right. That's the right perspective... I'll stop my crying.
  14. Thank you for the kind words. A funeral service for Otto will be held tomorrow, Tuesday, March 30, at 3:00 p.m. at J.S. Waterman & Sons, 495 Commonwealth Avenue, Boston. Contributions in Otto's name, may be made to: The University of North Dakota Alumni Foundation Box 8157 Grand Forks, ND 58202
  15. The Boston Bruins play the NJ Devils 4/3 and 4/4. I think I'm going to be sick. I didn't think Zach would stick around, but being knocked out of the NCAA's and then finding out that it's official that we're losing him just like that, and THEN seeing him play for a Bruins' opponent so quickly (along with Brian Gionta, no less) is almost too much to take... Right now, I feel like I felt when the Red Sox lost to the Yankees in Game 7. So many Sox players had such tremendous seasons last year that it seemed if they didn't make the World Series then, they never would. Losing Zach brings back that same feeling-- if we didn't make it to the Frozen Four with him, will we ever make it again without him? Of course, I know we will (the Red Sox may be a different story). But, it's still hard to swallow right now. Quite painful.
  16. I really can't see Voce getting the award. No real reason for it, except that I didn't see him shining out above the other BC players on the team, like some of the other candidates do/did for their teams. Too bad Michigan didn't pull it out. I had hoped all the BC fans in my office tomorrow would be sharing my misery about the F4. This is going to be a very long couple of weeks. What a difference a day makes! Oh well -- Go DOGS!
  17. Way to go Dogs!!! See you in Boston!!!
  18. 5:50 or something. Wow! What a great game!
  19. I want to. Go Dogs! And, they score-- 1-0 tUMD.
  20. Ha! No, the Big Dig isn't completely done, but it's way better than it was in 2000. I think final expected completion date is May '05 or something.
  21. Shannon scores his 2nd goal of the game for BC. They lead 5-2, now. Looks like it's over.
  22. BC scores on a PP at the beginning of the 3rd, and leads 4-2. Patrick Eaves' 2nd PP goal of the game.
  23. But then Niagara scores on a PP, 3-2 BC. Couple minutes left in the 2nd. (That was 5x3. Niagara still has 5x4 advantage.)
  24. BC scores again, 3-1 BC. 6:54 left in the 2nd.
