So if that is true, the NCHC could have still brought them on board but just not given them a cut of the conference TV deal. It would still be beneficial to have ND in the league from a marketing and branding standpoint. And even if they have their own TV deal for home games, having them in the conference would still help with increasing the revenue from the conference TV contract as they would still show up on the conferences broadcast games when they are playing on the road. Either way, it still doesn't justify bringing SCSU into the league.

While I don't see the Great West surviving as a true all-sports conference, I see it continuing as a place for independent sports teams similar to the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation. I would expect to see the GW begin to pick up auto-bids in individual sports such as baseball.

With the number of people on this board, we should easily be able to get coach Muss up to one of the top spots.

So instead of Notre Dame we get St. Clown. Time to rename the conference.

Good to see them get another game picked up for true TV broadcast and not just webcast. It needs to be pointed out that this is only on Midco sports network and not Fox College Sports. But the UND Insider is still a great option for those of you outside of the ND/SD/nwMN markets that will be airing the game. Faison has stated many times that their goal is to increase the # of both home and away games for all of our sports, and hopfully get ALL hockey games, home and away, on TV.

And there is that Bison egotism that everyone talks about. This is why Bison fans were known as the most obnoxious fanbase at the DII level and are quickly getting that label at the FCS level. I sure hope that someday lowly little ol' UND can maybe put a team on the field that is at the very least capable of playing with NDSU. But I won't hold my breath, as many a Bison fan has told me that it will likely never happen. Maybe someday in the distant future we will get where we can challenge NDSU in a game. If UND and NDSU were playing this year, I would put my money on NDSU winning the game. But seriously, this attitude from bison fans is getting old.

You are much more likely to see the Central Michigan Chippewas skating around the rink. And somehow that would be acceptable to the NCAA.

Let's not go into the game hoping we might get a win. Let's go into the game knowing that we have plenty of young talent on our team and expecting to come out with a victory.

And I am sure that is just a walk in the park.

Because whether or not their FB program is doing well or not, Notre Dame will always be one of the most marketable and reconizable sports programs out there. They have a huge national fanbase that has no connection to the school other than they are Catholic or their parents are ND fans. Getting ND into the NCHC would be a great get from a marketing, television and recognition standpoint. If the NCHC is truely trying to put together a national TV contract, having ND in the league would make it much easier and profitable. Even if their hockey program was a doormat in the NCHC, it would still be a big draw in dealing with television stations on broadcast contracts. If the goal of the NCHC is to truely be a nationally recognizable conference, Notre Dame would be the prom queen that we should be willing to do almost anythin to get to go to the prom with us. And like others, I am scratching my head how a local TV deal could be the hold-up with Notre Dame as UND has had one of those for a long time. And DU and CC regularly have games on FSN (Root Sports) Rocky Mountain. Plus, they strengthen the eastern half of the conference and connect WMU and Miami to the rest of the schools. They bring in the Chicago, Illinois and Indiana markets (just as much as SCSU brings in the MPLS/SP market, if not way more).

A HUGE congratulations to Devin Trefz who became UND's all-time leader in points scored during the first set last night! She is No. 1 in rally points scored (1,460.5), No. 5 in attack attempts (3,307), and No. 6 in kills (1,208)! And also congratulations to Annika Smed who passed the 1,000 kill mark last night! She is No. 6 all time at UND in rally points scored (1,256) and attack attempts (3,091), and No. 9 in digs (1,194).

They will simply have to slightly change it to the "Dakota Small 3" now. And since certain posters insist on referring to themselves as the "Mighty Land Grants" maybe we need to refer to ourself as the "Mighty Space Grant" institution.

UND Insider will be picking up the feed from SUU T-Bird Zone. Both sites require a paid membership to watch live video. UND's webhost is NeuLion and I believe that part of our deal with them is that whenever we play away games against other schools that use NeuLion we can pick up their video feed for free. UND Insider does have a free membership that allows the user to listen to audio broadcasts for free. But what fun is that in today's technological age?

Let's hope that the NCHC hasn't cashed their admission check yet. It'll probably bounce anyway. Since the rumors started swirling around that SCSU would be joining the NCHC, I have been waiting for them to pull a UNO and drop football, put that money towards hockey and announce they are moving the rest of their sports to the Summit League.
