  1. I'm not 100% sure on this Dagies but I thought a portion of the roster was already chosen before Sandelin was coach and then he had a say in the final 12?? Maybe someone else can confirm this?
  2. It is what it is. Message board chatter. For all we know Phil could shock everybody and sign with Bemidji State. I hope he signs with the Gophers and will be disappointed if he doesn't but it certainly wouldn't be the first time a program didn't land a top recruit, it happens to all the best programs. As Sioux fans can attest, thats what happens when you go after the best ones, you get some, you lose some.
  3. Hey guys, Jackson here. Just wanted to let everyone know we are not claiming this guy as one of ours.
  4. Many Gopher and Wisco fans would say Minnesota v Sconnie is a bigger rivalry than Minnesota v NoDak. The problem I see with the unbalanced schedule isn't the possible number of points a team may or may not end up with but it is not being able to play games against your best rivals. I enjoy the whole week leading up to a series against NoDak or Sconnie.
  5. That is very possible. Minnesota struggled on the road at Denver. I think any Gopher fan would be very happy with a split.
  6. This may sound very elitist but how is this. We arbitrarily name "the big six" Minnesota, Nodak, Wisconsin, CC, Denver and Duluth. All these teams get 4 games a year with each other. Then we have an unbalanced schedule with the rest of them. I know the "other" schools would hate it. Just an idea.
  7. I think it would be ideal if the WCHA could have a balanced schedule, but how do you do it? Do you get rid of teams? if so who and where do they go?
  8. I think that when the Final Five rolls around it could be one of the best fields we have had. I see Minnesota, NoDak, the BADgers, Denver and CC all showing up there. It's possible there will be better hockey at that tourney than at the frozen four. Unless the Bulldogs turn it around soon it will be tough for them because they will have to go on the road to play one of the above teams to make it in.

    Rip on Hak

Hey that gives me an idea... Jump to conclusions, yeah maybe a mat with conclusions on it you could jump to
  10. I am a Gopher fan and I must say you have no clue. The Sioux have plenty of talent, not chump players as you put it. Tell me, is there a panic button on your computer chair? The current group of players has to adjust to a new coach and system on top of different rules enforcement. Believe me I love to see the Sioux struggle but you are way off base. Did I mention it's October? There may be areas of legitimate concern but if I were a Sioux fan (thank god I'm not) I would be buying Final Five tickets right now.
  11. I remember a while back when ESPN featured the Sioux on their "Play of the Day" and people here were pretty jazzed about it.
  12. I wouldn't be too upset, take a look at the U of Hawaii's uniforms. They are quite similar. http://uhathletics.hawaii.edu/
  13. You are high if you think Vanelli instigated that.
  14. Down 5-0 so they goon it up. Looks like NoDak of old.
  15. I counted four sioux fans that posted in that thread ( I may be wrong) 2 said split 1 said sweep and one mumbled something about gravy on my back to back t-shirt. Seems confidence isn't overflowing in Grand Forks even though Minnesota is very young and having a hard time putting the puck in the net.
  16. I am looking forward to a great Final Five, got my same seats as last year (same section anyway). Hopefully Minnesota can sqeak in along with the rest of the teams picked to be there. I love the idea of the BADgers, Bulldogs, Nodak, Gophers and CC or Denver all in the same weekend! I ran into a big group of a-hole sioux fans the day of the final game in a bar, they weren't there after the game but I met some other sioux fans and played pool with them, were real cool guys.
  17. Keys to the game: For Minnesota, the young defense must limit their mistakes and Briggs needs to play very well. More than anything I am concerned about offensive production, the power play is not clicking yet. For NoDak, the big experienced defense need to keep the front of the net clear, I think it is in NoDak's favor to get in a shootout. The difference in my opinion will be home ice. Grand Forks is a tough draw for Minnesota so early in the year for such a young team. Prediction: Sioux sweep. Anything less and the Gophers can feel like they stole one.
  18. Wolverines chatter has Kessel race down to two. Take it for what it's worth. http://michigan.rivals.com/showmsg.asp?fid...0254720&style=1
  19. There's a lot of great college hockey programs out east, glad you chose to adopt a western school. As a Gopher fan (this kills me) I still have to say you picked a great program. Bonus to you, currently the Minnesota-NoDak rivalry is pretty intense. If you can make your way out west, especially for the final five, you'll have some great memories to take back to Jersey.
  20. I believe this happened in Waite Park. I also suspect that it will not stand in the way of his pro career initially. But later on I am sure he'll find a way to f$*k things up again. One question I do have... Would the world be a better place without Stearns County?
  21. That may have been one of the best posts ever
  22. Anybody know where to get a list of previous Mr Hockey winners?
  23. Hopper, your quote on the goalie thread. "I would keep all 4 goalies....simply because this is the point of all discussion...and has been for several years. All pro teams have a practice squad and a rotating roster. I believe, on a team like the Sioux, they need that extra man to push the others over the top." So... competition is good for goalies but not the rest of the team? Isn't depth good everywhere?
