  1. I think Karl starts with a strike against him because Pascal was a high pick. He will have to elevate his game higher than he would if these two players were taken at about the same spot. Bottom line though is production, and if Goehring produces it will not matter how high Leclaire was drafted. Off topic, good luck to Bochenski. Man those Minnesota schools crank out some talent
  2. Kermit as much as I hate to I have to disagree with you. The Sioux will be fine. Programs like Nodak and Minnesota bring in top talent every class. So while you are pining about the 2005 -2006 season having a huge freshman class (see Minnesota this year) chances are that class will be full of talent. College sports are great because you have an awesome year and then dread the next year because half your scoring punch graduated. History says that production is usually more or less replaced by sophmores and juniors who now have opportunities they didn't have when the senior class was around. That is why the Gopher-Sioux rivalry is and will continue to be intense for years to come.
  3. I know they are kind of a longshot on paper but I think they are a team that will over achieve for their coach.
  4. Here is how thw WCHA will shake out at the end of the regular season. 1) NoDak 2) Minnesota 3) Duluth 4) Wisconsin 5) UAA Seawolves NoDak has the most returning talent. Minnesota will get better as the year goes on and make a run at tourney time. Duluth only lost a couple players (very good ones though) I'm just not sure they can repeat what they did last year. Wisconsin will be better and you gotta love those Seawolves!
  5. I don't mind whether you sing it fast or slow, but sing it the way it was written. Ummmm. OK So we shouldn't say sioux or Gopher at the end? Lots of hypocrites on this board who want it "sung the way it was written" yet still want to ad-lib the end.
  6. Yes. By replacing brave with sioux you are disrespecting all those who are/were not sioux.
  7. So that you are not lost, come along with me. How about the men and women who died for our country who don't give a crap about college hockey? Anyone with a good reason why this isn't disrespectful? Bueller?
  8. MNS I know I am new but... help me out here.
  9. I thought I was clear. I think replacing brave with sioux or any other team is disrespectful to our country, especially to our armed forces past and present.
  10. I did a little searching but haven't found a good thread discussing this yet. It's the... "and the land of the free, and the home of the SIOUX!" that I don't get. Look, I am as much for school spirit as anyone. After a little checking into this I also found out that at a time (not recently) that sioux was replaced with Gophers at Mariucci. I don't care who it is, it's wrong. It is disrespectful to those who have served our country then and those who do now. Thoughts??
  11. So it's NOT about winning a National title? It's about winning the WCHA (I assume you mean regular season and not playoffs ) Don't kid yourself, every Sioux player on the roster would trade a regular season title for a National title. As far as being a cancer to the team... You have now lost your credibility.
  12. God bless Minnesota High School Hockey
  13. Don't get your panties in a bunch. The last time College Hockey's top prize landed out west in my opinion was in 1969. Maybe when Barry says out west he means it. As far as the eastern bias yeah I know it is alive and well. Wouldn't you be pissed if your boys have been getting beat down for 50+ years now?
  14. Rumor has it there was a big college hockey game going on tonight. Didn't see it. Was busy watching NHL minor league hockey on ESPN from 6 to 9. If you were fortunate enough to be at (or watch) the Sioux-Gopher final at the X during the Final Five you had to shake your head at what you saw tonight. Yuck. I want to s&!t on my TV. Trapping like that in college hockey. I can't wait for the WCHA to resume operations.
