Looks like UND will be sporting some new sweaters this weekend, in the mold of the ones that Nike has rolled out over the last few years in International events.

For me, channel 40224 is the only thing appearing, and that's for the Canada/Sweden game yesterday.

Case in point (and I'm sure the Lucia haters will love this), but Lucia scheduled the second game of Minnesota's home and home with Mankato during the first weekend of January for Sunday the 7th, not Saturday the 6th. The first game of the series is Friday night in Mankato. Lucia said after the Michigan game that the WJC kids would be getting back (assuming the U.S. makes it somewhat deep, which they probably will) on Saturday afternoon and this way would be available to play Sunday night if need be.

I chimed in on this one pretty late if you look at the posts. I put one post in here about Schneider compared to many by Chuck and yet I ruined the thread?

That one move is good enough for him to likely start the season on Boston's top line, but I'm sure there are many reasons why that is laughable, right?

Last season, Schneider was a first-team All-American. He was the MVP of the Northeast Regional where he shutout Miami and BU (I know, both those teams suck, right?). He had eight shutouts. You ask what he's won, and we'll get to that in a sec, but was has he had a chance to win? BC was one of (if not the) youngest team in the country last year, and like Chuck said, he led them to the NCAA title game. He played on some WJC teams that were clearly overmatched for various reasons (both years it was Minnesota players that caused the problems though, right?). Before that, he was Team USA's goalie in the Under-18 Junior World Cup where the U.S. won the event for the first time. Also, although they didn't win it, he was 5-1 at the 2004 IIHF Under-18 World Championships. They lost in the title game by a 3-2 score to a Russian team that included Malkin. Schneider had a 1.71 goals against average and a .929 save percentage in the tournament. He was a first round pick by Vancouver in 2004.

Not to go totally off-topic here but remember the systems that Elliott and Schneider play in. If you put Schneider in UW's system (or any goalie for that matter) his numbers would be better because Eaves puts much more of an emphasis on defense than York does.

Are you serious? I can hear arguments for UND being ahead of UM, but those arguments probably shouldn't include Holy Cross references, since the two teams are completely different now as opposed to last March.

If they had to do it to keep Gaborik around and happy, then it was worth it.

At the same time, it's pretty clear by Phoenix's draft choices and acquistions in recent years they like Gopher players. Who knows if he'll even be good enough to play at a top college hockey program like UND or UM at this point?
