  1. When Wisconsin visited UAA earlier this year, the games were on the Wisconsin feed of FSN North and they had the local guys in Alaska doing the games; the quality was pretty bad. Say what you want about Frank and Doug (I know they aren't liked on here for obvious reasons; I generally go to each game so I can't really give a fully informed opinion on their quality in recent years) but I'm pretty sure they are a big upgrade over locals in Anchorage calling the games. Plus, like others have said, trying to do something different -- albeit less expensive -- could be kind of cool. Worth a shot at the very least, IMO.
  2. Not trying to flame here, but where did anyone with any credibility say the Devils thought about dealing Parise for Lang? That makes zero sense from a New Jersey perspective ... why would they trade one of their top forwards who is a budding star for a guy making a ton of money that is old and hurt all the time?
  3. Bert is likley out for this game, so I'm going to be taking over as the point-person for Team POI. As Bert said, we had to change rinks because Breck's rink is closed on Easter Sunday, but we are now good to go at Fogerty Arena -- which is located right on Highway 10 and 65 in Blaine -- at 11 a.m. on Sunday, March 23. Click here to see the map.
  4. If only he could have been developed like Matt Jones was, he'd be playing huge minutes for the 'Yotes by now! Oh, wait, what's that? Hmm...
  5. Like I said on GPL, UND wouldn't have suspended him if the whole nickname thing was still very much up in the air. That's a huge part of this, IMO.
  6. I was told there's be no math. It's not Bert's strong-suit...
  7. Sunday, March 23. Probably around Noon, give or take.
  8. Misinformed, yet again. Shhhhhocking.
  9. That would hold more water if two of his best games as a Gopher -- both late-season matchups versus UND last season -- didn't come AFTER that game.
  10. Not sure what that has to do with my last post, but I'd expect nothing less on here. I'm totally fine with a Gopher-less Final Five. Obviously I'd like the team to make it, but it would be nice to have them not there on year just to see the numbers drop across the board, and then hear the conspiracy theories on here.
  11. To help add some clarity (i.e. facts) to the story, Minnesota has to play six non-conference home games each season. That in mandated by their athletic department. So, they don't have much flexibility to play non-conference games on the road. The only time they really can is years where they have the College Hockey Showcase at home and play Anchorage on the road, since that frees them up to play two non-conference road games in addition to the six home games. Minnesota did play BSU in 2000-01 in Bemidji and again in 2001-02 at Mariucci, so it's not like they've never played them. Lucia also said during an interview this weekend that he talked with Tom Serratore about the idea, so it's not like Lucia is pushing for this without any thought or input from BSU's side of things. And I hate to break it to you guys, but I guarantee that if BSU had their way, they'd open their new arena versus the Gophers.
  12. Budish to Minnesota. http://gopherpuck.blogspot.com/
  13. I really don't care what most people on here think about Gopher recruits; that being said, people on here endlessly rip Gopher fans for being arrogant, but yet you guys are acting like losing the likes of Ness and Lee is no big deal, who cares, etc. If Gopher fans acted like you guys netting Kristo or either Mattson wasn't a blow, people on here would flip out. No need to distract from the point of this thread any more, but the hypocrisy on here is amazing at times.
  14. Then, how come every time a kid from the Twin Cities commits to North Dakota, no matter if the Gophers were even after the kid, all I see on here is "Hakstol owns Lucia, Gophers can't recruit Twin Cities kids any more, etc."?
  15. Obviously this will get me no where here in Haloville, but the came could be said for Minnesota being concerned about UND's "recruiting gains" into the Twin Cities. Though I'm sure if I said that I'd be just wearing maroon and gold goggles, right?
  16. This is brought up from time to time -- usually on this board -- but in terms of the Gophers always playing on Friday night, this is voted on by all league teams on an annual basis and the vote is always nine to one in favor of this; Minnesota is the only team to consistently vote against themselves playing the night-cap on Friday.
  17. Not doubting this, but any link / source?
  18. New job has taken most of my free time, but thanks for the kinds words.

  20. If you wanted to have replays, a nice on-screen graphic package, etc., then yes, it would be pretty spendy. But I think that they could do a "bare bones" approach (one camera, no replays, etc.) for a pretty minimal cost.
  21. Agreed. Last year, TSN was able to carry several of the U.S.' preliminary games, so Center Ice picked those up and showed damn near all of them. I'm guessing the same would have held true this year, but TSN is not airing the U.S. prelim games. Still though, it's bush league of USA Hockey to not offer a web feed (video) for these games. They could even charge $10 or something for a tournament package to cover any minimal costs. Even smaller DI schools stream their college hockey games live online these days, so it can't be too costly and/or complicated.
  22. Unless something changes, the only games that will be on television in the U.S. will be the medal round games, which will be carried on the NHL Network. As of now, only the Canada games are available online in terms of watching. U.S. games are carried live on USA Hockey's website but only offer audio, no video.
  23. Yes, they are related. Nephew, I believe.
