Thats one. Many more to come.......

I agree 100 percent with you. But just be ready for a huge rash of outcry from people who believe that Ladoucer is the best official the state has ever seen....

Pat Sweeney just announced on the news that Fargo North won't be continuing the contract of Don Smith. He will however, remain a teacher in the district or at the school (can't remember whether he's a teacher at North or not...). I've heard a lot of rumblings about him in the past from North hockey fans/players. Would any Fargo North fans care to shed some light??

I would like to know how he was an amazing goaltender this year. He didn't play against any quality opponents (I'm throwing Minot in, because a couple of people on this board believed Minot to be a horrible team this year). I'm not doubting the kid's talent, just the competition. Teams he played against: Shanley-4 Saves Fergus Falls-9 Saves West Fargo-1 Save Jamestown-12 Saves West Fargo-19 Saves Minot (probably his best game of the year)-38 Saves GFC (His only loss, I was at that game, he didn't play well)-17 Saves Wahpeton-5 Saves West Fargo-7 Saves

Here are the members of the All-State team, as listed on Bob Gillen's website. I accidently posted this in the goalie section.....der.... F-Sam Aide-Bismarck High F-Charlie Bair-Mandan F-Jordan Willert-Minot High F-Paul Campbell-Grafton/Park River F-Tom Campbell-Grafton/Park River F-Jake Stadstad-Grand Forks Central D-Tyler Jundt-Williston D-Dan Nelson-Hazen-Beulah D-Erik Galt-Fargo South D-Jake Marto-Grand Forks Central G-Josh Bruce-Williston G-Eric Olson-Grand Forks Red River At-Large All-State Selections F-Jared Kopp-Bismarck High F-Rody Selk-Minot High F-Paul Weisgarber-Fargo South D-Matt Hill-G.F. Nicole played pee wee A in Minot, and very well could have played Bantam A if she had not been sent to play goalie on a girls team. She did everything she could with the hand she was dealt, and will probably play college hockey. I bet it would mean something to you if someone from the east would have won it.... PS: Have you ever seen the Lamoureax sisters play? Tell them they are unbelievably slow and don't know how to play the game.

I have some cousins in Fargo who are currently involved in the youth basketball program there. I would think basketball would be pretty big in Fargo with how well Fargo North and South have done in the state tournaments in recent history. A couple of years ago the State A was held in Minot, and it seemed like South had a bigger student section at that tournament, then they've ever had at a state hockey tournament. Correct me if i'm wrong please...

Very good points, but I'm not sure I agree with you about the revenue. If it was held in Bismarck you would get a great turnout from both the Bismarck schools, Minot, and Hazen Beulah usually brings bigger crowds than anybody when the regional tournaments are in Bismarck and Minot. Then again, if all eastern schools were in the semifinals then you would probably have poor attendance. But I guess Grand Forks schools, Grafton, and Fargo have never had to travel far to a state tournament so I guess you wouldn't know how well of a turnout they would have....
-
I didn't say anything about the two best teams not being in the Championship, and I think I'm about the only one on the board who is from Minot. This was discussed earlier in the thread, but what do people think about moving the tournament out of Grand Forks for a year. It has its positives and its negatives. I'm old fashioned so I'd like to see it stay in Grand Forks, but I'd also like to see another city get a chance to host the tournament.

I would just like to congratulate Nicole Nelson of Minot for winning the North Dakota High School Miss hockey award. Nicole is a great goaltender who played with boys teams through her pee wee years (she made the pee wee A team). The Minot hockey boosters had goalie clinics that I helped instruct for back when I was in high school, and of all the goalies that attended the optional attendance clinics she was the hardest working, and just about as good as the boys. Way to go Nicole!

Minot seemed to do fine against teams from the east this season when he wasn't officiating (accept the state tournament ). PS: Just another one of your rants about how Grand Forks is Gods gift to hockey. Ohh by the way, Grafton and Fargo South had pretty good years as well, and he didn't officiate a majority of their games. PSS: Its funny how only people from Grand Forks believe the guy is a good official...strange....
-
Very well said BigGame. Props are due to Charlie for staying in Mandan to play hockey on a team he knew wouldn't accomplish a whole lot. Marto is the best hockey player in the state this year, and probably had the award won before the beginning of the season....

When did I ever disagree with you that Red River is the best team in the state? Congrats to Red River on the state title. Their depth absolutely killed Central last night, and they did a great job keeping an eye on Mr. Hockey. It was a fun title game to watch.
-
Congrats to both GFC and Red River on the wins last night. DaveK hit the nail right on the head as far as fan sportsmanship goes. After both games last night fans from Red River and Central went out of their way to rub it in the faces of the Grafton and Fargo South fans. One GFC fan made sure she went right up to a group of Grafton parents/grandparents and asked them who won the F#ing game. I hope nothing breaks out tonight after the all GF final, it should be a god game.

It took about a period for it to happen, but Minot started to play a little bit of hockey in the second period. The game didn't get cheap at the end, so that was a good thing. I felt bad for the Williston goaltender, he's had a pretty good season, and his defensemen left him out to dry on numerous occasions. It was weird however, that he took himself out of the game after Minot's seventh goal, usually thats a coaches responsibility....
-
I see Bismarck High and Williston winning today. Williston is at least excited to still be a part of a state tournament, the Minot kids don't give a $hit. I bet if you talked to a majority of the Fargo North players they would be thrilled to be still playing hockey, the Minot players need a reality check....

I'm affraid I have to call a sieze fire for tonight. International Politics 220 will kick my @ss tomorrow morning if I don't get some sleep. Good luck to all remaining teams, looking forward to some great hockey. PS: You have to be from Grand Forks to defend Laducer like that. Everyone has a story from around the state of the screw jobs he's pulled. High School coaches (Hell, any coaches) take special interest when he's officiating, but probably because he's such a nice guy.
-
Minot always poops the bed I'm affraid. I've pretty much spent the last hour trying to reason with other posters about your last point, and to defend Minot a little bit (they really don't deserve it after todays performance).
-
I never said anything about being knowledgeable in many different areas of life. Okay, blatently wrong....you are GF biased...well thats not blatently wrong. You disagree with everything I say.....thats not blatently wrong. I never said anything about myself being a truely great individual......thats not blatenly wrong. The Laducer part is correct I'm affraid. He's a horrible official. Ohh wait, let me put it in terms that are acceptable. He pisses in his breezers while officiating hockey games all the time!
-
So there is no possibility at all that I was joking about Laducer being an overweight idiot, yet when another person (that you by chance get along with) talks about high school hockey players urinating in their breezers multiple times its just fun and games, and its okay to do. Just admit that you won't agree with anything I say. Because you know its the truth, and you are too GF biased to see it any other way. PS: When did I say anything about myself being a truly great individual? PSS: I'm sure that all the GFC students were joking around when they made comments (that only soohockey is okay to repeat) as I was wearing a Minot t-shirt around the Ralph tonight. But I'm sure you think thats okay too.
-
Fair enough. I guess we just have different opinions of what a truly great individual is.
-
"Truly a great individual" gets off by talking about high school kids pissing in their breezers... Thats a great lesson on life!

I would like to apologize to members of the board for my many posts trying to talk reason into a couple of hockey fans. I hope that no one will look down upon my opinion of hockey in the future. I guess I'll always believe that kids deseve equal opportunities, and although the west is weak in hockey, the only way they will get better is playing east region teams in a setting like the state tournament. Sorry again....
