  1. Which is a nice rink if I do say so myself. I had the privilege of playing there once or twice in my career and I can't complain. Tech should be happy that they get the chance to play their last couple of games in a nice rink. (Englestand, or XCEL Energy Center)
  2. He is by far the most dangerous player in college hockey on the power play. When he gets a chance at a one timer from the top of the point there is a good chance that the puck will go in (see CC series, BU series).
  3. I believe that Ballard is the Gopher version of Mike Prpich. A gritty hard working player, yet takes the time to pi$$ the other team off occasionally. Of all the players on the gophers, he's probably the one I hate the most though for the jersey thing he did to Lundbohm at Mariucci in the playoffs a couple years ago. Like my roommate at the time said: "If it was my last shift of my college career and Keith Ballard was on the ice I'd make sure to two hand him at least twice before getting off the ice."
  4. Tech @ UND..........UND in 2 Mankato @ UMD.....UMD in 2 UAA @ UW.............UW in 3 CC @ Denver.........Denver in 3 SCSU @ UM............UM in 3
  5. Actually Warroad played at noon every day of the tournament last year, but in years before that you are correct.
  6. Is it on TV in Grand Forks?? Thank you.
  7. Where was the vote to eliminate this thread completely?
  8. Justice is served, congrats to Jake!!!! Both of our goaltenders have been players of the week, and they said goaltending would be a problem....

    Jake Brandt

Jake Brandt definately deserves to be the WCHA Defensive player of the week and the national player of the week as well. I paid pretty close attention to other games in the WCHA and the only player who has a chance to dethrone Jake of his rightful place is Bernd Bruckler, who only gave up one goal this weekend, but played at Alaska.....
  10. You betcha it does!!!! The thing that really tickles me though is that UND only lost those two games by a score of 2-1, and one was on a questionable (note* I said questionable, not wrong) call on a goal at the end of the game.

    Jake Brandt

The bigger the game, the better Jake plays. Jake was absolutely outstanding at Mariucci this year and at the NHC against some very tough crowds. When you look a the series at Wisconsin it wasn't really a make or break series. Yeah a lot of the blame went on him for losing the first game of that series (I lost my confidence that game, but it wasn't his fault) but you expected the Sioux to have a letdown at one time or another during the year. This weekend I expect Jake to get the nod on Friday night and win a share of the McNaughton cup for the Sioux. If UMD loses on Friday expect to see JPar in the net on Saturday, but if UMD wins, I think Jake has earned his chance to win the cup for them outright.
  12. I'd just like to start this thread to formally apologize to Mr. Brandt. After losing that game in Wisco I kind of lost confidence in the kid and I deserve to be reprimanded for it. Jake is the starting goaltender for the Sioux for the rest of the way out in my opinion, and can lead this team to the promised land. Stats his last four games (all on the road) GAA-1.5 Saves-98 Save percentage-94.2% Forgive me Jake!!!
  13. That Central vs. Red River game tomarrow night should be a good one. Central gives up more shots than last year, and I'm gonna go out on a limb and predict a Red River victory.......
  14. And in the evening Session: Red River 4 Hazen Buelah 0 Central 4 Minot 2 I thought it was a pretty good showing by the west region. Although Century got blown out in the third period they had their chances in the game against South, but South's goaltender played pretty well. Central is dominant, I'm glad that Minot kept it to two goals! Way to go Bismarck High!!!! I'll enjoy not seeing Grafton in the semis!!!
  15. I was suprised that that group from Fargo didn't make the Bantam A title game last year. Everyone was anticipating the big matchup between Minot and South, but it just didn't happen. I think South could possibly win the high school tourny this year. Central has beaten them twice but they have the defensive core to slow Central down. I'm hoping that Minot keeps it within 5 against Central....
  16. I'm from Minot and for the most part I believe that the West is catching up to the East. I've been watching East Region hockey ever since I started attending college here, and western hockey is getting closer and closer. Minot has a group of Sophomores coming up that just won the Bantam A state championship last year, and many of them made varsity this year. They will probably get it handed to them by Central in the first round (everyone has had it handed to them by Central) but its good experience for those young kids. The West could very easily have won some games at the state tournament last year and the year before, but it seems like they don't get the bounces. Century lost to Grafton 3-2 last year and hit three posts in the game, Minot lost 2-1 in OT on goals that went off their own defensemen and in the net. The East Region is still the best region, but I wouldn't count the west out quite yet.
  17. I saw RR play Central this year and they have some quality players. Their goalie Gilbraith is a senior and more than likely will be moving on, and they have a couple good forwards in Kuntz, and Strang, other than that they have some pretty talented kids, but none that stick out.
  18. Here are the brackets: Thursday: Noon-Bismarck (1W) vs. GPR (4E) 2:30-Century (3W) vs. Fargo South (2E) 6:00-Hazen Buelah (2W) vs. Red River (3E) 8:30-Minot (4W) vs. Central (1E) Once again the East teams are probably going to win all of the games, but the west region is getting better every single year.
  19. Well, at least nobody will have to play CC on their home ice in the post.
  20. I would love to see a bracket with Duluth and Minnesota meeting in the quarter finals......now that would be some college hockey!!!!!!
  21. I think first things first they have to get a sweep in Mankato. Mankato is a team that has been struggling all year long and there is no excuse not to go out and completely dominate them like Minnesota did earlier this year. If Duluth goes down to CC and gets a sweep they absolutely deserve to win the league. I'm hoping that UND can get a sweep this weekend and possibly go into Duluth tied with the Dogs for the league lead and then worry about getting a split. UND has the advantage of playing their final league games of the year at home against Tech, and if the Sioux are tied with Duluth going into the last weekend of the year, I like our chances. UND's remaining schedule @Mankato @Duluth Tech Duluth's remaining schedule @CC UND @UW Colorado and Wisconsin are tough places to play, I'll say advantage UND up to this point, but the Dogs are a darn good hockey club that could win all of their remaining games.
  22. If I am not mistaken Craig Perry does some volunteer goaltender coaching for the Fighting Sioux netminders. I know he did a little bit last year with Siembida, but I don't know whether he is this year or not.
