Your guess is as good as mine Central. I'm not going to give Minot the tourny title yet, but if they play the way they should they should win the West Region tourny. Earlier this week Minot squeeked (and I mean squeeked) by Williston, and yesterday they played one of the best teams in the state to a 2-2 tie. Its nice to see Minot finally start to compete well against eastern teams. My guess for the four teams from the West 1. Minot 2. Bismarck 3. B. Century 4. Willison I wouldn't count Mandan out of the equation, or Hazen. Things should get interesting come February.

I still don't think that Weisgarber made that big of a difference against Red River. I think South would have won the game with or without him. I thought that #19 for South (can't remember his name) had a much better game. Maybe that just shows how much depth South has....

I was at the GFC-Minot game this past weekend and Minot was clearly the better team. If Central's goaltender hadn't played well, the game might have gotten out of hand. Central is still a pretty good hockey team though, and with a guy like Marto you never know. I expect RR to beat Minot on Saturday, but I think it will be a really good game.

Phil hasn't lost at home yet........ We'll see how Phil handles playing on the road against the number one team in the country next weekend. Hak has got to start him on Friday.
-
Jeez, last year you had to score at least four goals to beat Central, my how the times have changed. I guess when you lose guys like Mac and Moreland your scoring is affected... Thanks Cratter

Anybody got a score??
-
You should probably add Minot to that list since they beat Bismarck high in Bismarck, and also beat a decent East Grand Forks team.
-
I'm sorry to be getting off of the subject, but I checked the ND High School website that Bob Gillen does, and they only have Weisgerber from South playing in 4 games? Is he injured, or is he the one who supposedly quit...
-
I'm personally gonna miss Hermes the most. That guy flew around the field, and made a ton of plays. Coming in a close second would be Wisthoff.
-
I think it depends on the goaltending that Central gets. If the kid plays well they could very easily beat the roughriders. Either way I see Marto getting a ton of ice time.
-
I think that the ice at the Ralph for the most part has always been soft and crappy...

Brandt has only played in two games so far (well three if you count the Exhibition), and he probably wasn't going to get a whole lot of time down the stretch run. But to eliminate any chance you have to play with an injury that isn't hockey related sucks.....

Here's the link: http://www.grandforks.com/mld/grandforks/sports/10547875.htm Guess its Lamoureax and Parise from here on out.

You know what the sad part is?? If the U.S wins tomorrow they still win the group because they'll have Russia and the Czechs beat head to head. So twenty years from now the story will get switched to the point where the U.S. had nothing to win in their last pool game, took it easy against Belarus, and lost.......

No player for the Sioux has been remotely hot this season. But If I have to pick one Stafford is playing pretty well for the World Junior team. I don't know if he's totally hot though, some other guys have started to play well......ohh.....this is a thread about who the best looking Sioux player is.......since I'm a guy I won't participate......
-
The U.S. has had some success so far, but I question how far this team can go with the defensemen playing like they are. I won't mention any names, but a couple of the guys look absolutely lost out there. One d-man (from the WCHA) was on the ice for three of the goals that the Swiss scored....

No, I'm calling the reporter an idiot for trying to get an answer out of the coach when he should know that coaches are not allowed to comment on officials. I'm not a broadcasting expert, and even I know that.....
-
Okay, if a coach was asked a question for every time he got upset the post game interview would end up being half an hour. Lennon said it was a tough call against his team. RIGHT THEN AND THERE, the reporter should have stopped. That reporter should also know that coaches can get fined for speaking negatively about officials, yet he asked the question. In fact the head coach of the University of Kansas (Mark Mangino or something like that) was fined for talking about poor officiating in a post game interview after they lost to Texas.....That reporter showed poor judgement, and is an idiot in my book......
-
I've seen Caufield play, and he definately would contribute if given the chance. I don't think he'll beat anyone with his speed, but he has the ability to go over the middle and make plays. He's also got some size, which helps.....
-
You could tell it was a bad call by how much Lennon was arguing. Usually he just kind of stays back and takes them as they come, but with as furious as he was you just knew something had to be wrong. I agree about Broyles. He seems like a class guy, but not once did he give any credit to the UND defense.... ANOTHER THING!!!!!! The post game interview. Did that Pitt State announcer want Dale Lennon to get fined by the NCAA? If he says ANYTHING regarding poor officiating he could very well be punished by the NCAA.....That idiot just kept talking about the call though....
-
Switched it........

Memo to UND's offense: Run the ball Memo to UND's defense: Stop the run Memo to Jeff Glas: MAKE A FRICKEN KICK!!!!!!!!!!! UND can win this game, but they almost have to play a perfect game on the road to do so. If they turn the ball over on their side of the fifty yard line Pitt State will probably turn it into points, so they have to be careful with the football. On defense they just have to stay away from giving up the big play, and contain Philpot, which is a lot EASIER said then done.....

Somebody should tell that #4 for GVSU that there is a DI level of football, and that he could probably play at that level and succeed, man that guy was fast........ I thought it was a good hard fought football game. As far as the officiating goes I don't see where anyone has anything to complain about. The first spot on the fourth and short for GVSU was a little sketchy, but the second time when they were inside the twenty Finnerty wasn't even close to getting the first down. It was weird to see Bowencamp get pulled, I personally didn't think he was playing that badly, but Belmore did what was needed of him to get the win. Bring on the Gorillas......man are they good....
