The kid is just a sensational player. Gonna suck to see him back next year when he could be playing in the NHL. Gajan was brilliant in the net for Duluth. Can't overlook him either.

All of the #1 seeds thus far have gotten tremendous goaltending.

I get he's a bit emotional after the loss and everything, but I'm not really sure where another penalty could've been called on us. I mean the Zmolek penalty was a joke in itself, but whatever. One of the things we did a good job of was not going for big hits and keeping the reaching to a minimum. I feel they got a bit screwed on the no goal call, but then its 3-1 or 2-1. It won't be the last time an officials whistle costs a team a goal. These eastern teams will always whine about coming out west. All the while Denver ends up east every time the state of Colorado doesn't host a regional and they are fine.

Today should be an excellent catch up day for the rink as they'll only have the two teams practicing for maybe an hour each, and other than that they can focus on getting their surface temp to a decent spot. Only one game tomorrow should make for a more playable surface. Its getting to the point with some of these places where if you're the second game you're screwed.

Thoughts -We didn't cope well to the ice surface at all. Tons of terrible bounces, and you can't play overly cute when thats a factor. -I thought we didn't show any rust, and really had a good first ten minutes of the game. I thought it was more of us on the gas pedal than them not skating. Goal early always helps. -I'd say we passed up shooting the puck easily 10-15 times. Our pp overpassed a ton. -Coaches limited #18's minutes quite a bit late in the game. Fighting it a bit the past few games. He's so much better when he keeps it simple. -Our goalie played better than their goalie did. Really locked in performance for him. -Regardless of what their 8th place finish says, that team was playing their best hockey of the year and won 4 backs against the wall games in a row to make the NCAA's. They probably deserved a better fate then they got tonight. An ugly win beats any loss. Especially in the NCAA tournament.

This game feels a lot like the Yale game years back. Up 1-0 most of the game, but Yale gradually started to skate away and Clark Saunders couldn't steal that one.
