  1. I thought it was kind of interesting to read some of the clients that Fabian Law represents...Campbell soups, Hilton Hotels, and J.R. Simplot. They all have ties to UND/Grand Forks...There may be others in that list as well.
  2. A conference is a conference...I just hope we get into one sooner rather than later. I did vote for Midcon for a couple of reasons. First off I tend to prefer the Midcon due to it's being in the same time zone as UND. I would also like to see us in the same conference's as the SU's as well. There are several positives about the BSC as well.
  3. Thanks...Do you have any idea on how long they've had the club team?
  4. Might get a little cramped for a football team
  5. We booked a couple of weeks ago...have connections in the hotel industry, actually got regular price at the Doubletree However, we don't have hockey tix yet
  6. This link talks about schools from the NCC and WCHA who have passed resolutions pertaining to Native American mascots. You can scroll down to the U of Wisconsin to see the resolution, or summary of it. http://www.UND.nodak.edu/org/bridges/passed.html It seems as though UND and Illinois get a pass due to being in the same conference
  7. I could be wrong but I believe the Michigan Wolverines are a school that will not play opponents with Native American mascot/nicknames...not sure if I heard it or read it. The only time I remember the Sioux playing them has been in tournaments (in the last 10 or so years). On a related note, they do continue to play Notre Dame on an annual basis.
  8. Good read...I particularily enjoyed the Idaho high school team name at the end of the article.
  9. I already did...and they are all spoken for...thanks
  10. Some buddies and I are heading down for the Wisconsin series on October 14th-15th. We are looking for 8 tix for each night...preferably together. Let me know if any of you have some to sell. Thanks!
  11. Maybe they confused ND with SD since they are basically flip-flopped in the poles
  12. I remember something about a larger center but did not know that it may possibly house a museum...anyone else with info on that?
  13. I guess I would view it as "Something good coming from the continued use of the Sioux name" as the Spirit Lake resolution states.
  14. It's nice to see some think this is a good idea. I was actually going to send an email to the "powers that be" on both sides of the issue. Does anyone know if this has ever been brought up before? If this would ever happen I would guess that UND would work with Tribal elders to see how the Sioux history would be best integrated.
  15. I have a question. We all know how nice of a hockey venue the Engelstad Arena is. People from all around the region, country, and world have come and continue to visit the arena and walk away impressed. The arena has many features, one of my favorite is the pictures that basically depict the history of Sioux hockey. My question is this: Has there ever been discussion about incorporating Native American History (specifically Sioux) into the arena? Whether it be special Sioux history type of room, or interspersed amongst the hockey memorabilia, or even museum built next to the arena. I believe there is a great opportunity for something positive to come from this nickname debate. Now that the debate has taken on a national platform, is it possible for something positive like this to occur. Any other ideas, suggestions about this?
  16. Did anyone see Stenhjeim on TV last night. He was quoted as stating that Mr. Brudvik may not know th laws concerning the AG office. Since the SBoHE voted in favor of the lawsuit, The AG's office has to be the one's to try it since the board is an official office of the State of North Dakota. Not sure if I got that 100% correct, but Mr. Stenhjeim made it sound as though it's state law that the AG be invovled.
  17. What's kind of funny/ironic about this debate is that most of the Bison Fans over on Bville think it's a good idea for UND to wait the extra year to have the exploratory year. They state they did it not only to find a partner but out of respect for the NCC and the current players/coaches.

    Sad News

I had the privilage of knowing Jeff as well...he will be missed.
  19. Thanks for your input as well since you were at the meeting...I can't believe the Heraldo would print something that isn't completely accurate
  20. Here's what Buning had to say at today's conference. Buning
  21. The Herald also mentioned that the task force is holding a briefing in Twamley hall at 1:30 pm...not sure if we'll learn anything though.
  22. I don't believe anyone has posted the DI Task Force Report that was forwarded to Kupchella. Here is a link. Let me know if it has been posted. report Hopefully the link works...not sure if I did it right.
  23. I also agree with this. I have and always will be a Sioux fan no matter what division their in...although I prefer they go DI. My little nephew who was born a few months ago obviously has no allegiances. The next 10-15 years as he grows up which way do I think he'll lean? I hate to say it but he may very well choose DI NDSU over DII UND (except for hockey of course). I also unfortunately believe this would become the norm for the "newer" generation kids.
