  1. anybody up for a SiouxSports League?
  2. LOL, Now there's a guy who knows how to stay out of the doghouse
  3. the article "North Dakota Gets Another Parise" is at ushockeynews.com on the front page
  4. For those who need a reminder! Keep in mind he looks better in the picture than in person. Jonathan Durno But he did have a good sense of humor
  5. PrPich and Canady
  6. IMO the student senate should counter-propose all of 111 and the last (however many) seats in each row of 110 that would equal the # of seats they currently have. This would prevent them from blocking any views but other students. (not that students want their views blocked but the us vs. them wouldn't continue with the non-students) Giving the students the first few rows of 110 is only condusive to continuing the controversy. This way they show a willingness to compromise, they don't lose any seats, and they keep the section more unified. *to those who read my earlier post I apologize for repeating myself
  7. wouldn't it be a better solution to give the students the last 5 seats in each row (or however many) so that even if they do continue to have a standing problem it won't block non-students behind. I would think giving the first 5 rows to the students would potentially create the same situation that existed before. Also, by putting all of the 110 student seats next to 111 it would create a more unified lower bowl student section. Just my $.02
  8. thanks for the info. I wasn't sure of his circumstances- whether he needed to sit out a year or not, but I remember seeing that UND was one of his original choices.
  9. On what is probably an unrelated note. Anyone know where Wisconsin's Leavitt (sp) is transferring to?
  10. Article on former WCHA players in the NHL. 58 as of end of the regular season. 16 are former Sioux. Here is a link to article WCHA NHL ConX Way to go Sioux!
  11. well your first hurdle is to axe the third roommate then promise the other free beer on game nights. If he/she is plowed enough it won't matter who is playing. All of a sudden Canisius starts to look good :O Is CSTV gonna be a sports subscription service or a basic directtv channel?
  12. I hope to have Sioux season tickets again next year, and was thinking about getting the cable NHL package for next season, if Midcontinent picked up CSTV with hockey programing I might never leave the sofa again. well at least for anything other than work- I have to pay for it all somehow Having a roommate I sympathize with your tv problems. Mine has completely different taste in programming and isn't a hockey fan. Good luck!
  13. It's exciting to see that CSTV debuted on April 7. For those with DIRECTV it is channel 610. They are supposed to have the FF championship game on today. From what I could find it appears that all 6 DI Hockey conferences are on board and the NCC. Now I just have to start bugging MIDCO to add it I found this amusing in a Frozen Four Notebook article under Rinkside Rumblings
  14. Good Luck to both teams! It is too bad one has to win
  15. Speculation on HNIC was that they were resting him for playoffs. I hope that is the case.
  16. My $.02 Build a 6,000 seat basketball arena attached to REA (new technology allows for "movable walls" such as those used in new arena in Omaha(?)) This would allow for most NCC games and big high school events. More important games could be held in REA, as they are now, with less compromise to ice conditions throughout the hockey season. This could also lead to something I have been wishing for for a while-- the "Betty Engelstad Parking Garage" Which in turn could lead to further development as we wouldn't need all the parking lots. Build a $20+ million dollar waterpark instead of a $7 mil. Make it a destination so people will want to come from great distances. Then it will stand a chance of making/generating money for the area. It does need an attached hotel as well as shuttle service from other hotels.
  17. Duluth: Knick, Knack, Paddy Whack, give Duluth a bone, Kick those dogs and send em home. ( can be applied to huskies in future too) Minn: I love the cupcake tune "If you're a Cupcake and you know it..." REA: bring back the green light/ sieve after goals or start playing that Sieve song thingy that they do at CC Students: suggestions for after announcement of opposing player "Who's He, Fresh Meat", "Non-Factor", "We're Sorry", "Wannabe" REA or band: Green giant theme music to go with crowd chanting "Ho, Ho, Ho Greene Giant" Students and Fogies: More signs and fliers. If people can tell what you're chanting they may just join in. I would be happy to donate some supplies for posters/fliers etc. (forecheck if you know of worthy people to donate supplies to or would like some yourself email me) ok I'm done for now but feel free to chime in and/or comment on my lame? suggestions
  18. Ok, so after all the talk about the students and getting the "fogies" into the games perhaps we should have a meeting of the minds spot. many people have posted suggestions in other threads. Maybe if we put them all in one place the creative fans can merge with the powers that be (chant starters, arena personnel, fogies, students) With that in mind I will get the ball rolling with some suggestions of my own and some that I have "stolen" from other threads. Specific (ie. "Wookie") or general ideas all welcome. We are done at the Ralph for this year but we can get a jump on this weekend, NCAA's and next year Let's Rock the Ralph and make everywhere else a vacation home.
  19. Not using it as an excuse for the loss. The reasons for losing are many and have been covered already. However, there is no reason IMO that the ice shouldn't be as good as possible if that means lowering the temp. in the building so be it. Every little thing that can be done to give the team an edge on home ice should be done.
  20. As a sioux fan/season ticket holder I will chime in on this one. I don't care how cold it has to be in the arena. Whatever it takes! Fix the ice. Real fans are willing to give up a little comfort if it will help out the team. If they bitch throw em a blankie.

Selling out to mostly FSC members is good for ticket revenue I'm sure, but I can't help but wonder how that will affect the overall economic impact. I would think less tickets available to "the world" will mean less revenue for hotels, restaurants, etc. I would also think that this would have an effect on attendence for the "less popular" games. I am NOT complaining about the opportunity to purchase tickets I am grateful. I am just wondering if the event will turn out to be a disappointment to the region from an economic standpoint. Hopefully I am overlooking something or just being naturally pessimistic. my $.02

I have sat all over in the arena for different events (my favorite was center ice for Kenny Chesney ) I can honestly say that even in "nosebleed" upper sections the seats were all good. I was in upper 303 for a couple games and even those seats weren't bad. Might want to purchase now, if all else fails if you run into a better deal for lower bowl tickets later you'll still be able to sell your upper bowl tickets.
  23. Ok I am about to reveal myself as a half deaf semi-newbie in hopes that someone can offer help . I started going to games at the old Ralph in '96 and now have season tickets. I try to get into the cheering I stand, clap, yell etc. but the majority of the time I and the others around me can't tell what the students are yelling. By the time we figure it out they're done or were yelling something I wouldn't necessarily want to anyway. A little less F*** and sucks $hit would probably help with a lot of the fans especially those with kids sitting beside them. What the solution is I don't know. Maybe having someone tell me the standard cheers would help. I can't very well help carryout a tradition I don't know about. I seem to be the one telling the 4 other people I regularly go with what is going on so it is like the blind leading the blind. I love Sioux hockey and would like to be part of a more involved crowd but don't know how to go about it. I would imagine I am not the only one. Any help would be appreciated. Maybe having a student rep. or alum familiar with traditions do spots with Katie to educate the newbies and give everyone else some "practice" would help. In a related note. For those that watched the road CC series (painful camera work) what did you think of the sieving to the music after scoring? I think that would help get more of the crowd into things as well. sorry about the book!

I just called the ticket office. I was told it won't be active until 10 am. I've never been so excited to spend money in my life.
  25. I never thought these words would pass my lips but I DON'T WANT MY MONEY BACK! CB's comments in the Dec 4 coach's show about the team not winning without David Hale are starting to look prophetic
