For me personally I donot have a problem with the Sioux nickname however, I am not a sioux indian and obviously some indian cultures as well as some non indian people do have a problem with the nickname. But some sioux fans (not all) do make fun of other schools mascots also. Sioux fans for years wore tee shirts mocking North Dakota States Mascot the Buffalo. The shirt had a Indian killing a Buffalo with an arrow. In Hockey, Sioux fans for years go into the woods and kill Gophers and then throw them on the ice after a goal. When it is laying dead on the ice sioux fans are laughing and cheering. So, why should Bison and Gopher Fans support Sioux fans in this issue.

I was sitting near the Gopher section on Saturday night and there were still plenty of Gopher fans with Gopher jerseys,sweatshirts, jackets etc in the stands. So I think your 90% of Gopher fans not there is big exaggeration.

I was at the Final five when there were some crappy signs directed toward Hirsch. So, if you think some idiot would not make a classless sign about a individual your sadly mistaken.

Good one That's about as good as this sign: "Hey Bina, Hows the view from the Hospital bed" or if we happen to lose to the Gophers there can be this sign " Hey Bina, aren't the Gophers a pain in the neck". My point is is that it is fun to have tasteful signs but when you have a sign that attacks a individual (Hirsch or Bina) that goes to far. I'm sure Sioux fans would not want negative signs directed towards Bina just like Gopher fans would not want negative signs about Hirsch.

Rick, I'm curious where you got that information. I am a friend of the family and his parents have told me since day one that he always wanted to be a Gopher and Minnesota was the only place where he wanted to go. I know he took a recruiting visit to UND but that was about it.

North Dakota Hockey first of all I want to say that UND has some of the best fans in the league but to say they dont run their mouth or show lack of taste then you did not hear or see what I witnessed. Alot of UND fans (not exaggerating) where giving Wisconsin and Minnesoita fans crap in the concourses on Saturday night because there teams did not win any games at the final five. I know its just good nature in the most part but to say they don't run there mouth is alittle much. The second thing I witnessed was all in out classless. Some Sioux fans held up some tastless signs directed at Tyler Hirsh, they were also saying some very derogitory comments about Hirsch's act on Friday night. Some Gopher parents were close by and came down to confront the fans and things got very very close to arupting, luckily security came down to break it up. I know a few fans donot make up the entire fan base but Some Sioux fans are no diiferent than any other fan in the league when it comes to being idiots.

I have two tickets for each of the Gopher games in Section 302 (fri) and section 306 (sat) These are in the end where the Sioux shoot twice. I am looking to trade these tickets for two tickets to each game in the end where the Gophers shoot twice. Leave email if interested.

Jerseychaser, Maybe you wouldn't have acted badly but some of your fellow Sioux fans would have. When the Sioux won the Final five at the Target Center a few years ago Many and I mean Many Sioux fans were taunting Gopher fans as they left the arena. Does anybody remember the "Golden Choker" chants. In might be a harmless chant but some Sioux fans were coming up to young and Elderly fans and screaming in their face. Like I said before there are good fans and bad fans.

I also was at the X over the weekend, the behavior by SOME Gopher fans was not called for but as WPOS said it happens everywhere, maybe not to this extent. People say that the final five should be either at the Pepsi Center or the Bradley Center and think problems wont occur are wrong. Years ago the final five was at the Bradley Center and I witnessed Gopher fans getting harrassed unmercifully by Wisconsin fans, infact a friend of mine had his nine year old daughter get threatened by a Wisconsin fan who was in his 50"s. This year I was in Denver for the Gopher series and SOME (not all) Denver fans were giving some Minnesota fans a real bad time. I agree the problem lies with the security people of the building and the local law authorities. I have been to every WCHA arena in the league and the security at these arenas are terrible. The cops that are there are more interested in watching the game instead of seeing whats going on in the stands. I have witnessed UND fans leaning over the glass and yelling profanities at opposing players in the penalty box, UMD students throwing brooms and Gopher parents, Denver fans harrassing Gopher fans, Wisconsin fans trying to pick fights and so on and so on. This will never end until either someone gets seriously hurt or the cops do their job which they are payed for. Miinesota North Star said that a Gopher fan by the name of KC was getting harrassed at REA by some Sioux fans because she was wearing a Gopher Jersey. He is right, I was with KC and her dad that night, and when we were walking around the arena several Sioux fans were giving her alot of crap. It just shows you that every team has their good fans and every team has their bad fans in their own arena.

North Dakota Hockey, Minnesota is playing only two games because Wisconsin CHOKED against Alaska and Denver lost to CC, it is not because of the Minnesota rule.

OH how things have changed! Four months ago I was at REA for the Gopher games and there was a sign in the student section that read "Minnesota the land of 10,000 excuses" After reading some of these posts it looks like its not just Minnesota fans that whine but Sioux fans as well.

Thanks for the info, can you give me a example of some of the other games that you have watched and also, how do you know what games will be on free tv (is there a tv guide or something you can look at)
