Western just makes me nervous. Size, speed, scoring.

They seem to struggle with Miami and CC. Honestly, they split WMU, SCSU, UMD and us. That isn’t awful. But their struggles again “meh” competition hurts them. They also need better NC. One problem they have is the Olympic Curling trials, really taxes their home/away schedule.

Both games so even, albeit we finished. Omaha is snake bit on scoring otherwise they could have run us out of the building…

Like I said she graduated from UNO. Makes for two really interesting weekends a year. I watched a bunch of her games, when they show up they’re pretty impressive when they don’t they’re pretty depressive. Game one against UMD all she did was stare at the TV, game two was hysterical, game 7 of the Stanley Cup.

Really depends on which Omaha team shows up. If the good one does, then I’ll never hear the end of it from my wife. If “the bad one“ does she’ll act like “it’s just a game“ and move on. My worry is that they show up and we don’t. That would be really bad.

I’d say he gets a fifth year, he has a bunch of recruits in the pipeline but much more of this they’ll scatter. They can’t seem to put in the effort, that’s either Gen Z or coaching. Losing games to those you should beat is inexcusable. I will say, CC can be a tough out at times.

OMFG!!!

Omaha is a very up and down team, when they’re on their very impressive, When they’re not it’s just like old times. I watched a lot of their games, my wife is from Omaha (went to UNO) and that’s her team. You’re right the game against UMD and Saturday night was very much one-sided. But Friday night, it was a !@#$ show. If you look at the comments from Taylor Ward they were very insightful. It’s just one game he said, the question is what are they do with it. The problem is they become very much the one trick pony, until they develop multiple strategies it’s easy to counter their style of play.

I have been paying attention to the teams that suffered ‘the virus’. Each and every one suffered poor play in the series immediately following.

With the portal, everyones recruiting will be subject to last minute pitch and yaw of who goes. I hate it, and I hate NIL even more. I believe the two will combine to be the death of college sports as we know it. Kids subject to parents and "agents" focused on income over all of the things that make college sports the best alternatives. Otherwise (stolen off twitter): Make them pay for strength and conditioning coaches. Make them pay for nutritionists and meals make them pay for rooms make them pay tuition they are all "cost of doing their business"

.I said this when they offered the Covid year. It has really screwed up the recruiting pipelines for many teams. A lot of these kids wanted to come in 2021 and were put off. That will affect a great deal of commitments. I don’t think the NCAA did us any favors. My bet is the next 2 to 3 years will be very odd indeed. You have to remember it’s just not seniors. The juniors, sophomores, and freshman, all have an additional year. Between that, and the transfer portal, what a mess!

They are in a slump, it happens. Two months ago, this board was on fire with the ‘we cannot be beat’, now it’s the mail it in crowd. Good lord, lots of hockey left, you think these kids don’t read this board? I can hear it now, ‘I hope they do, fire them up, maybe they will play some Sioux hockey (which will put them in the box for half the game)’…

Also be interesting if they were to place a Western win versus Michigan in the mix to see the impact of the "duck and cover"

I get that, but the ‘penalties’ were so weak and questionable. Ward got 5 and a game for trying to position his stick. It wasn’t a cross check. Not even close. Run it on NCHC. Omaha was in the box for 34 minutes, of which maybe 12 minutes pass muster. Like Walsh had a bone to pick.
