  1. Yes a TE who was able to achieve separation due to the route design.
  2. Like I said, much of my post centered on the defense, the depth and Otis and Waletzko. Lots of games have been missed this season by the first week starters and the team has shown lots of depth. Have the total games lost to injury been that different than 2017? I'm not sure, just seems like we have had a ton of injuries this season too. Missed games this season: Canady, Haas, Johnson, Morrison, Navratil, Galvin, Siegel, Weah, Skokna, Smith, Lavell, Preston, Maag Missed most of Illinois State: Waletzko and Larson That's a long list of starters, some have been one game or less than one game, some have been almost all season. The big personnel holes are at WR(speed) OL and kicker.
  3. We are 3rd in YPC and lead the MVFC in fewest sacks given up. Not sure how that equates to the offensive line being the biggest problem. Not saying it is great, but it is NOT the biggest problem. UND offense would be fairly easy to defend. Stop the run and short game and make Tommy beat you deep or with his legs. He can't(some of it IS the receiving corps) and he won't run. Like I said earlier we have outscored Illinois State and Indiana State but NOT UNI, WIU or YSU.
  4. After 7 MVFC games we are third in yards per carry and 10th in rushing attempts.
  5. I was basing it on the 5-5 record, the close losses, and the missed games with injuries by starters or significant contributors. IMO its not that much of a stretch for this team to be 9-1 instead of 5-5. 2017 was not that long ago, and that was a disaster because of lack of depth.
  6. Do you remember the ISU TD pass? Was he open because he was a burner and just had that knack for getting open? The offense stinks this fall, my hope is it is Danny compensating for personnel issues and not just the way it will be. In the MVFC our scoring offense is ranked higher than Illinois State and Indiana State and behind WIU, UNI and YSU. IMO that qualifies as just plain BAD OFFENSE. http://www.mvc.org/football/stats/Valley Football Stats Conf.pdf?path=football
  7. Tommy can also run perfectly well, but he just is NOT a runner. I have not watched much SDSU this season. Will watch a couple games this week. A running QB changes everything the DC has to plan for and can make a good team great.
  8. I had the same thought. Tommy's only real long pass of game Saturday (over 20 yards in air) should have been picked and would have been picked if not for Boltmann making a spectacular play. If we had a burner or two, i think we would all be even more frustrated with the UND offense.
  9. I'm nervous that Bubba/Danny have attached themselves to Tommy as QB as long as he is eligible and that Tommy at UND will outlive Bubba at UND. Obviously it is not all Tommy's fault, but for much of this season the offense has been just plain bad, including last Saturday vs ISU. Thankfully the combo of our D and their pathetic offense let us win with 14 points.
  10. Not saying it 's Q, he has looked bad on his last 2 pass attempts. Hopefully its Feeney. If Tommy was going to be a runner, it would have already happened. Hopefully its Feeney.
  11. Correct. My mistake. Lay an egg vs ISU. Couldn't get the last visit to Holt out of my mind.
  12. Not difficult to figure out what is different for SDSU Spring: Gronowski: 108-188 for 1,565 yards 15 TDS and 3 INT's , 83 rushes for 663 yards and 7 TD's (7.0 avg) Fall: Oladukun: 165-263 for 2,211 yards, 17 TD's and 5 INT's, 48 rushes for 199 yards and 2 TD's (2.1 avg) Multi-dimensional QB changes everything. Hopefully Feeney and Q are given long look in spring and fall camp.
  13. Our playoff chances ended with the meltdown in Springfield, Mo. From a personnel standpoint, this is likely the best UND team ever and it will finish 5-6 or 6-5. Lots of introspection needs to be done from Chaves and Bubba all the way down the ladder as to why it did not win the MVFC or at a minimum receive a seed in the playoffs. @ Idaho State - good win in a place where UND teams have traditionally gone to lay an egg. @Utah State - Danny emptied out the bag of tricks in the first quarter and it was all down hill after that. Outscored 41-3 over the last 3 quarters. Drake - Win against a vastly overmatched team. 5 turnovers in the game. No Otis. NDSU - The biggest game ever held in Grand Forks, one coaching meltdown on a certain 4th down changed the course of the season and probably UND football. @USD - uninspired play from team, USD 10 points on their first 2 drives, offense fails to capitalize on punt block and starts the second half with a timeout. @SIU - Again defense is lifeless for first 2 drives and spots SIU a 14-0 lead, then scores UND's first points. Offense comes alive in the last minute of first half to tie the game. UND blocks SIU first drive punt deep in SIU end, no points. Have chances at end but use bizarre clock and game management techniques. No Otis. WIU - Beat an overmatched team, still many questionable calls and game management situations(end of half). @MSU - Seem to have game in hand on the road 28-17. Very questionable calls on 3rd and 4th downs combined with defense who seemed to be checked out leads to loss in the last minute of game. YSU - UND plays uninspired football and but comes back in 4th qtr to beat a struggling Youngstown team. ISU - UND plays great defense and scores a late TD to beat ISU in front of tiny Alerus "crowd".
  14. Tommy did play well and we struggled to score 14 points. This team has struggled to score all season. Much of yesterdays game was tough to watch when it came to our offense. I give some credit to ISU, but it’s been this way much of the season. This team has much better personnel than the record shows.
  15. Do we need a defensive TD for the win? C’mon Danny.
  16. So is our offense. Will be a miracle if we pull this out.
  17. With that defensive performance and only up 7-0….it’s a gigantic problem.
  18. Need to score on first drive of second half. Bubba ball is getting to be painful to watch.
  19. Yep. Not good on the injury front. Any idea how serious?
