There is a chart for getting sacked on 1st and 10 with over a minute left?
Every coach for sure has a plan for that so they don't have to think at all or make a decision in-game.
Our chart must have said after a sack let 39 of the 90 seconds run off the clock and then on 2nd and 18 throw an interception.

We (meaning the coaching staff) can discuss chart contents between games. And I agree not everyone's chart will be the same.
But having a chart, having the decision pre-made, so you don't make a bad decision under pressure, is what I'm looking for: game management.
... words here about failing to plan is planning to fail ...
Now that is a major bingo!

The transfer portal has definitely changed college football, but will likely just be another tool for the better programs to thrive and the lesser programs to not thrive.

Siegel is gone?
Shoot. That's my bad. Not Siegel as far as I know. Just Nelson and Robertson leaving at corner.

Are you confusing Seguin with Siegel, or are they both gone?
Both gone.

Blaming the state of football once again and forever on your seething jealous hatred hasn't really worked, and never will btw....
Football is what 8 -10 of the nicest days of the year, in a warehouse, to watch a team that at best hopes to compete in an overlooked tier2 division... it can be fun, but the University has made it almost impossible to succeed long term by trying to keep up with the Joneses...
Could have been a perennial, and more importantly relevant D2 powerhouse..... but no... had to have the field inside.... had to be in the big boy club, had to have the D1 (nevermind the asterik) beside the "name".
And for this UND forever sacrificed every sport down the ladder as completly irrelevant and unable to compete in any real way.
I hope one day UND football is relevant again, I do, but to argue that other programs need to have their success interrupted in order for football to have a chance is just petty and sad, it's a loser mentality.
Thats the last thing football needs any more of.
Winners back Winners son. It's a simple as that.
Good luck with your demons.
You make some decent points, but the decision on football really needs to be about the profile of the university.
UND has a great hockey tradition and fantastic facilities and is definitely known in college hockey hotbeds as the “hockey school”. The problem with that for the university as a whole is those “hotbeds” consist of Minnesota, the Red River Valley, and greater Boston.
To 99% of the US population, college in North Dakota is NDSU. As an alum, that bothers the crap out of me and there is only one solution to that problem and it is NOT for UND to become a D2 powerhouse or have a strong women’s volleyball team.

You must to Young. I remember this coach.
. In 1980, Pat Behrns took over as head coach. Although he amassed a record of 36–27 in six seasons leading the program, North Dakota never qualified for the playoffs nor did they win a conference title under Behrns' direction. Following a dreadful 3–8 season in 1985 that culminated in a 49–0 loss to arch rival NDSU Bison, Behrns resigned as head coach of North Dakota. He burned a lot of red shirts his last year.
I didn’t say worst coach In UND history, I said single worst coaching move in UND history. In many ways Bubba is a really good coach, just not in that moment vs NDSU.

Is this a joke? Start with the 4th down vs NDSU.

Definitely more transfers, but more off the 2-Deep you're saying?
Don't know for sure. Not just folks on this board who are frustrated with some of the game management.

Worried about this after the failed season UND just went thru.
Yep, its not like some of these guys don't know basic football strategy. The NDSU mess will likely cost this program a bunch.

It's so disappointing after going pretty unscathed after Spring ball. Any 2022 talks now seem extremely premature. Have to wait to see the roster construction once the dust settles.
Nobody else off the 2-Deep and we'll consider this off-season a success.
Unfortunately there will be more.

Good call on adding momentum. I just watched it again. It's just moronic. Did Bubba ever address that directly?

I believe he's referencing going on 4th down on the "minus 20" in the third against NDSU.
That was so out of character, so off script, I could not believe what was happening. Be aggressive, but on the "plus 20".
To use the hockey phraseology, sometimes high off the glass IS the best play.
We were going to take advantage of NDSU taking out the bigs and putting smaller lighter faster guys out for the punt. Not a bad idea, but NDSU was ready for it (coaching) and noticed our OL didn't leave the field. So instead of calling TO(or letting the clock run down and taking a delay penalty) and actually punting, we ran the play anyways and gave them the ball at our 20. The defense stepped up and they only got a field goal, but it GAVE NDSU the lead mid way through the 3rd quarter.

I believe he has pointed it out more than enough times over and over and over and over again on this board. We all got it.
Another one of our TRICKS that didn't work and we didn't call a timeout. In your infinite wisdom, why did we NOT call a F"ckin' timeout? Did Bubba just flat out choke? Did he forget he was the coach? Did anyone ever question him? Did he ever give an answer ?
That play expresses the EXACT reason why we finished 5-6 and are home and NDSU is 10-1 and may win another Championship. Entz knew what was up on that play and we sh&t the bed as usual.

Post of the decade. Unfortunately.
Decade? How about the single worst coaching move in North Dakota football history...
Not calling a TO on the 4th and 1......
at our own 20.....
in the second half.....
with the lead....
vs our greatest rival....
whom...we have been owned by for 18 years....

That was another play but yes that play call would've been pretty cool if it worked. But it didn't so can easily be second guessed.
It was dumb. It was 4th and 2 at the MSU 29 and we ran a play where the ball had to be touched by 4 players. I would love to see how many times it was run in practice and how many of those times it was run seamlessly and how many times it was not.
Que up Sicatoka's Quality control coach.
Based on what i saw on the replay it didn't even look as though Otis and Belquist were entirely sure if there portion was supposed to be a handoff or a pitch.

Every UND loss (save for USU) has a "you realize that if ..." moment in it that turned the game against UND, and those were manageable or plannable moments.

I would say a fumble when a team is trying to run out the clock is pretty damn high on the list of things to blame, rather than if we had taken X more secs per play off they clock they would've only had X secs left, etc. They still would've had plenty of time regardless.
MSU would've had to use both of their timeouts if Otis doesn't fumble. Instead he fumbles and they have two TO's left and over a minute.
Plenty of time? Are you by chance Bubba's quality control coach?

Well, based on your assessment of the final offensive drive of the season, it is clear you don't.
How’d that drive turn out? How’d that game turnout? How’d the season turnout?
To some of you it’s just “bad luck”. The Bison have just been incredibly lucky the last 10 years too.

When we tried the punt fake at our own 20, NDSU was watching and knew we were going to run a fake. There is very little "luck" in football.
