  1. Rhode Island? Who cares. Rt blew the whole D1 thing. UND will get caught up because it is the flagship university of the state of North Dakota. It will hurt pretty bad when NDAC gets beaten by lowly UND. Its coming like a freight train. Rocky Hager never thought it was going to happen either. As for those other schools, they have never been schools known for football, UND has been, and will be again soon.
  2. It was a great coaching job by one of the all-time best coaches no doubt about it. It was also one position and if anyone thinks ohio state would have been in even close to that position with 13-15 of their starters out, I have a bridge I would like to sell you. Even your beloved Bison would never be able to keep winning every week with 13-15 of their starters out. I do think UND should be doing better managing the situation than they are, but to think they would keep winning under the circumstances is nuts.

  4. Yes an absolute scrub. Please have some idea what you are talking about. He is also an NFL quarterback. https://247sports.com/Player/Cardale-Jones-16539/high-school-27354
  5. Its 5,000 more students and the cities and aviation.
  6. The reality is in football you really need a solid 46 players, 2-deep and a punter and kicker. This season at ILB the injuries go further than 2 deep, same at some DB positions. A better hockey comparison would be if you had the top 5 defenseman all out because of injury would be pretty decimating to most hockey teams.
  7. Haksto'ls teams choked. Several years UND was easily the best team, but it is not remembered that way because of the nature of college hockey. If they are seven game series like the NHL, UND has several more nattys over the last couple of decades.
  8. Football is much different than hockey. There is no USHL, the comparable USHL in football is done in-house. Apple and oranges. When the hockey players arrive in Grand Forks they are ready to play. Not so in football with very few exceptions.
  9. 13 starters out in football is more than having 3-4 players out in hockey. Now it is more than 13 starters out.
  10. He has a vision of what UND will become and the plan includes very relevant athletics and that can't happen without great football and men's basketball. 2025 UND will have more than 20,000 students.
  11. I seem to remember a year in those glory years when the wheels fell off. Bubba has to get this train back on the tracks but I have faith he will.
  12. NDSU does not have the top end talent to win it this season. Mcclimon will end up being Rocky Hager II.
  13. This is correct. Their is a huge hole in the roster when you get to juniors and senior and we are paying the price for that this season.
  14. Kennedy has a plan to move UND way up the collegiate ladder and it all revolves around football and mens basketball. I have faith that he will get it done and 5 and 10 years from now NDSU will be looking back fondly on the glory days.
  15. Next season UND will finish higher than NDSU and then the next season we will defeat them in Fargo and the cycle will begin again.
  16. How different everything could be with O’Brien, Rodgers, Hunt and Larson.
  17. Maybe, but a guy like Rastas while busting his ass, would probably never start if it was not for the injuries to O’Brien, Rodgers, Hunt and Larson. I am not talking about just this year, I mean ever. Tough to be too mean when you are getting pancakes lots of plays and just don’t have the wheels to get there.
  18. He’s a redshirt freshman. He certainly would not be considered the new kid on the block with UND’s current ILB lineup. Hunt and Rastas, they are both his age and Rastas has now started 5 games.
  19. I completely agree. It is tougher to be a dog on the field when you are over matched physically and mentally.
  20. I agree with evaluating player leadership or lack thereof, I think that is one of those things that has to happen organically and I don’t think it has been there since the end of last season. Maybe losing O’Brien really hurt in that I don’t know. I think the off the field problems are there or lurking on every college football team. Some of it is the nature of 18-23 year old men. It needs to be held in check though and when the school, football, social priorities gets flipped and the social part takes over it affects everything else. When it gets flipped to the degree that I believe it has, things can really be affected. The off the field crap has nothing to do with the coaching staff playing heidelbaugh over Zimmerman. That decision raises all kinds of questions. And yes like someone else said, the players all know who is better at that position especially, just like most probably know who is focused on football and who is not.
  21. Where will Bubba ball go from here? Who would have thought going into this season on October 15, UND would be 2-5 and that the closest loss would have been in Salt Lake City? IMO the worst part of this season is the deflation in the support for the program. I can’t imagine the difference in enthusiasm there will be for Eastern Washington vs what the Alerus Center was like for the Potato Bowl. This was going to be the season UND took the next step to becoming an elite fcs program. 4 big games to go, as a I said yesterday, need to find a a way to pull out 2 of them. Not going to be easy to do. EVERY part of the program will need to be re-evaluated after melt down on this scale. Obviously the coaching staff will need to looked at and some significant changes will need to be made in personnel and scheme. (looking back makes me wonder if Coach Maurice knew something else the rest of us did not) Strength & Conditioning Fall Camp practice In season practice Spring practice Recruiting and retention Player development and evaluations Player expectations and discipline Training and Medical staff and procedures and Rehab in game management What did I miss? it will be interesting to see how it all shakes out over the next 10 months. I don’t believe in “luck”. There can be a bad bounce or two but there is more to this meltdown than that. This season happened for reasons some of which we probably don’t grasp yet. What happened this season can never be allowed to happen again.
  22. This is exactly right. Makes me question the S&C and the commitment, etc. IF Bennett was 270 like he should be he would be an absolute beast.
  23. This is a huge need. Need more guys in the 280-310 lb range. I think Morrison, Seguin and Ott will be in that range by next year and as sophs for sure.
  24. I can think of worse things than being on a D1 football team.
  25. He is not a college QB, I think that is evident in his two games this season. Lets get him to a different position and see if he can be a college football player.
