  1. Any idea if Freund gets to hire his own OL and WR coach?
  2. How is he not ready? He has been a D1 offensive assistant for like 8 years ha
  3. Rudy stuck around ND. So those would be some of the kids that he handled. Knauf didn't do much from what I can see
  4. You must play in one hell of a church basketball league!
  5. Whoever gets this job will be whoever Bubba trusts the most with HIS job. This a 100% a make or break move for Bubba's time at UND football. I think Bubba is a great HC because I truly believe that the HC doesn't make near as much to do with the actual game prep and play calling as the OC and DC. Yep, from time to time he might override something, but look at any program in the country. It is all about who you get in to coach with you and help you be successful. This is why guys like Synder and Paterno can coach until they should be in retirement homes. They were great at finding guys they trusted and in Paterno's case he trusted one dude a little too long hahaha However, you get my point
  6. Remember the OC was a man who had been a head coach for 15+ seasons before coming to UND. He was probably not to open to taking ideas from some young "kid". Also, as the WR coach I'm sure he knew where he stood and not to step on toes. That is his job. I would see the offense changing quite a bit if Fruend took over to involve the QB more as a game changer rather than a game manager
  7. It is not all coaching. They are getting better players because better players want to play for winning programs. Yes, they have good coaches. However, it is not all coaching. NDSU won some national championship with some players who are now excelling in the NFL and have players on their current roster who will do the same. If we won national championships, we would gain some of their fair weather, no football knowledge fans, and we would win some of their recruiting battles with them.
  8. Here is the only bison related hire I'll be happy with: https://hawkeyesports.com/coaches.aspx?rc=1700&path=football
  9. Yes Hedberg is from ND and at a very successful school, but he has zero to do with the implementation of their offense. He is simply there for recruiting since he played in the NFL and is from ND. There was an OC opening at NDSU like 2-3 years ago and they didn't even consider him for the job.
  10. Not to mention he is the best recruiter we have on staff.
  11. I'm a high school football coach, so I have been to their clinic, watched them at practice, etc. etc. He is not a player's coach by any means and swears more than any coach I've ever seen. Not saying that doesn't make him a good coach, but I did play college ball and this didn't get me going.
  12. Have you ever met that guy? I have..........
  13. I still don't see them hiring from outside for the OC job. Bubba is the type of guy to recognize how long Fruend has been there and everything he has done for the program and give him the bump up. It is going to be a WR coach we are looking for, which would probably be the new OC's choice.
  14. This comes as no surprise. The OC hire will be interesting to see if Fruend gets the call up and they hire for WR coach. As for the OL coach, it will be an interesting hire, but equally as important if you ask me. With Johanason looking like the featured back next year and Wanzek, Izzy, and Tovienen as WR and a returning QB, you do have some fun pieces to work with right away as the OC. The OL coach however doesn't seem to have any true "standouts" that week in and week out maul the competition and that is what this program has been missing for awhile now.
  15. Now who do they hire? I wouldn't mind seeing them bring down the OL Coach from the Blue Bombers. That dude has some fire and gets after it.
  16. If that happens, I will be done as a fan. That guy is a flake.
  17. I completely agree. Look at any team that is successful on offense and it starts up front. Do we have one guy who would start at NDSU, SDSU, or any other midwest FCS school on the line?
  18. When I look at it, Bubba will be here next year no matter what. Financially, they cant afford to let him go. However, Bubba can show he means business by cutting ties with Rudy. Simply can him and move Fruend up to OC. Look at the development of our WRs through him. Plus we all know that football is becoming a young man's game for coaching and Fruend is that and that will help with recruiting. Also, Danny's former assistant is finishing up being a GA at Duluth. There is your new WR coach.
  19. If you really look at it, it all starts on the offensive side of the ball. We are trying to be a running force with below average OL and below average TE play. For what we want to do offensively, we simply don't have the dudes. For what we have been recruiting, I just don't get the offensive philosophy. Also, I have never been impressed with Knauf, but hey that is just me.
  20. I've watched the film a couple times and seen this kid play bball. He has a great frame, was the best player on the court and dunked with ease. Danny is probably drooling over this kid's potential. Fits the build and athleticism we are constantly looking for.
  21. I would think this kid would be a prime PWO candidate. In state, Wanzek type building, athletic. Hopefully he is a good character kid who ends up with us.
  22. He is probably too small to translate to the D1 level since he doesn't have elite speed. Also, I would guess he follows his brothers path and plays baseball somewhere.
  23. I've heard this kid is an impressive athlete. Looks like he has a good frame with some speed to go along with it. Could be a PWO that pays off down the road if he isn't set on something else.
  24. Has anyone watched Adam Zavalney from Park River play? Kid looks about 6-4, good frame and speed. Could be a nice TE-WR project.
  25. Hear good things about either of these two? I have never heard of either and am wondering if either will just get promoted?
