The Sioux can dig themselves out of a HUGE hole this weekend, help Copps, TUCs, PWR, as well as likely get a quality road and home win. In short a sweep is huge towards getting an at large bit to the NCAAs. To date this is the biggest weekend of the year (possible exception on the Dartmouth Tourney). Need 2 wins!!!

We are making it a hockey weekend. We will go to Bemidji Friday night, then up to Baudette for the outdoor game on LotW, then to Grand Forks for Game 2 and maybe stop at a Shattuck game on the way home on Sunday. Hoping for 2 convincing Sioux wins. \right now I really don't think that UND is a better team than BSU so a loss wouldn't terribly surprise me. I should bring a "Free Kaip " sign to the Friday night game...

Lee and Chorney WILL make some mistakes, that is just the history of D-men back from the WJT.

I hope that there is a lot of love and maybe a few signs for David Toews. You know something subtle like, "David come to UND and you can be a Canadian hero like your brother..."

We have 2 candidates that could be in the final 10 as I see it. Duncan and Chorney. If either were to really have a chace they would need to really start lighting the world on fire.

In fairness to Minnesota, year after year, they have some of the best skaters in the nation. Mankato does not. As a result there are going to be more situations where Mankato needs to do something else to level play. Minnesota has never been a high penalty team in general, physical play is not there calling card. My guess is that 7 penalties to 2 was probably a fair ratio. That said: Fire Sheppard

Peter Forsberg averages more than 0 goals per season. If Glass Joe isn't healthy enough to play, Glass Joe shouldn't play.

Oshie, Miller, Duncan Watkins, Porter, Genoway Vandevelde, Toews, Forney Fabian, Kozek, Kaip Let Toews escape full time attention and try to get Vandevelde and Glass Joe going. We are going to need to get something from these two down the stretch. The third line would have alot of size and strength. The forth liners have a key role on the PK and after goals (knock on wood).

That might work out well, but his numbers haven't been overwhelming at Shattuck. Keep in mind that Duncan would not have been bold, but he is a great college player.

I haven't done one of these for awhile. Even with the loss of Bishop, UND is full for 2007, assuming everyone that can come, does. Some players (Bruneteau) may wait a year if we landed another elite recruit. Here are a few players the Sioux are / may be interested in. Bold is my guess that they will be a high NHL Draft pick. Just as a thought, when Toews comes back why not stick him with one of the lines thats not scoring. Maybe with VV and Forney. Not because he is a forth line player, but rather to try to improve the depth of scoring and prevent him from always playing against the top defensive pairing and best defensive forwards. Edit: Yes I realize none of the lines are really scoring...

What's up with Kozek. The guy has an amazing shot, almost Bochenski-ish, yet it seems like he can't create opportunities. I think he needs to start camping out more in the front of the net and rely on his teammates to set him up. I really don't think he is a great skater or passer. I think he can be great, but he needs to be set up. His shot is definitely world class. When he was scoring in Mankato his shots looked almost effortless.

Prediction: Finley will not score half of UNDs goals this weekend...
