UND could've won both those games they just didn't play well. It's not like Minnesota steamrolled them. As far as injuries go we had to play 3 freshmen defenseman for a portion of the year due to various injuries and our best defenseman was out for the NCAA tourney. Jost and Brock also missed time due to injury. We also definitely outplayed BU in our regional. I don't think the Gophers can say the same about their game against Notre Dame.
Since the formation of the Big 6 they only have two wins vs NCHC teams in the national tourney. That was Minnesota in their runner-up year. Also the last year they had a team in the Frozen 4.
I agree that nickname discussions become heated very quickly. Most people will come around sooner or later. We all want the same teams to win. Live and let live and some time in the future people won't be nearly as angry about this whole thing.
Calling the loss to BU a choke job, when UND clearly was the better team for the majority of that game, is going to cause a negative reaction. I'm sure you probably know that.
I just think everyone is different. So let people come to terms with the nickname change in their own way and timeframe. Some people may never come around, but who cares. Keep supporting the teams and the school and leave it at that.
It's confusing, that's why I'm unsure. But you would be playing in the AHL on your two-way contract which I believe would burn a year, but I don't know for sure.
