  1. It’s been apparent for awhile that he just isn’t up to high-level color commentary any longer. But the ESPN execs just keep throwing him out there.
  2. Michigan-QU puck drop at 7:42pm CT.
  3. Probably Michigan. Hoping QU gets a shot at em' though.
  4. Tails are wagging in Beantown.
  5. Gophers just keep generating odd-man chances. BU might want to adjust.
  6. The Gophers are playing at another level, but you just never know. #hockeyisthecruelestsport
  7. My thoughts as well. His presence must not stunt the development of younger guys with higher ceilings. I like his energy and hustle.
  8. Just dropped on the Herald's website.
  9. UNH freshman defenseman Damien Carfagna just entered the portal. Played in Green Bay and Sioux City (USHL), undrafted, 0.46 pts/gm over 35 games, left shot (bummer), 5'11", 180lbs. Possible target?
  10. I was under the impression that Anton Castro was committed to Wisconsin.
  11. Quick-and-dirty game prep for BU-Gophers: BU: Record: 29-10-0; 1st in HEA; PWR #5; KRACH #5 Head Coach Jay Pandolfo, first year 3.9 G/G (third nationally); 2.6 GA/G (16th nationally); +1.3 goal margin/game 19.8% PP (29th nationally), 81.1% PK (31st nationally) leading scorer: Lane Hutson, D, freshman, 15g-33a-48pts, 1.26 pts/gm Minnesota: Record: 28-9-1; 1st in B1G; PWR #1; KRACH #1 Head Coach Bob Motzko, fifth year 4.2 G/G (tied-first nationally); 3.1 GA/G (42nd nationally); +1.1 goal margin/game 26.2% PP (fourth nationally); 83.7% PK (twelfth nationally) leading scorer: Logan Cooley, F, freshman, 20g-37a-57pts, 1.54 pts/gm
  12. BU game-planning for Minnesota: (@Blackheart-inspired comment)
  13. Thursday, April 6, 2023 NCAA Tournament, Regional (at Amalie Arena, Tampa, Fla.) Boston University vs. Minnesota 4:00pm CT, ESPN2/ESPN+ Michigan vs. Quinnipiac 7:30 CT, ESPN2/ESPN+ Hoping for anything but a B1G champ.
  14. Looking for a silver lining: If Strathmann does play another year in the USHL, it would help to balance out the classes a bit. It would feel painful to have to find (yet) another portal defenseman though. The one thing the coaching staff cannot do in the near future is lose any incoming recruits by trying to push them back a year.
  15. I think Mankato fans deserve a little more time to grieve.
  16. Time will tell, but it looks like Mankato just became Wisco's minor-league affiliate.
  17. Please feel free to disagree, but from where I sit, it wasn't losing Hastings that triggered this disaster, it was losing Knott. If Knott accepts the HC job, I can't imagine Hastings takes the roster with him.
  18. @bale31At least you still have your goalies? I mean, that's more than UND can say. [smacks own forehead] Sorry, I know, not helpful
  19. At this rate, Mankato might be battling Lake Superior for last place in the CCHA next season. I don't believe I've ever witnessed anything quite like this.
  20. Shoot. He was on Muskegon with Strinden and put up similar numbers. Stupid Sparty.
  21. If Judd turns pro, I wonder if that impacts Portz's decision-making process.
  22. Ah, I see. You're saying that they "pad" heights and weights, like a HS basketball roster. (My son somehow grew two inches the day they measured, or "measured," for the roster.) I'm still really excited for Livanavage though. Guys like Lane Huston (listed at 5'9", 155 lbs) have shown that smaller players can excel in college hockey. (Not saying Livanavage=Hutson, but a boy can dream, right?)
  23. This. Last season Berry reminded me of former Twins manager Ron Gardenhire. When Gardy had scrappy utility player Nick ("I slide into first base") Punto on the roster, he'd play Punto in like 125 or 135 or even 150 games, instead of the 80 games he deserved to play in. Punto was Gardy's safety blanket, and Gardy couldn't not play Punto.
  24. Elite Prospects has him listed at 5'10", 174 lbs. Pretty average, no?
  25. Kleven ended up logging more ice time than expected (21 shifts, 17:33 TOI) because one of Ottawa's other defenseman (Hamonic) got injured early. BTW, as Schloss's tweet mentions, Sandy had 36 shifts for 27:49 TOI, the most in the game for either team.
