My wishlist for the 2023-24 season: As much as possible, as quickly as possible, play as a cohesive five-man unit. Persson has the best season of his life. Find some supplemental scoring from the defensemen. That at least a couple of these forwards--Strinden, James, McLaughlin, Kunz, Schmaltz--would take big steps forward. Avoid major injuries. I'm so excited to watch this team.

Were any of the boys wearing fishbowls against Manitoba? This is the most important question.

Saw just a bit of WMU-Ferris State last night, and there's Matteo Costantini. Saw just a bit of BC-Quinnipiac last weekend, and there's Cooper Moore. Read the RPI-Maine box score, and there's Brendan Budy listed on RPI's top line. It's just kind of weird how many former UND players there are on other teams.

The old Ralph vs the new Ralph is like when Mom got new carpet and furniture for the living room…it just doesn’t seem like you should bring a badger in there now. But I’d love to see it.

Some day-after musings. Britt looks like he really knows what he’s doing. The d-men moved the puck up-ice quickly and effectively. The forecheck was just relentless. We look significantly faster than last year. Perron. Our third and fourth lines could be really good. There will be serious competition for playing time, especially in the forward group. Hopium level: high.

That was the funnest exhibition game I’ve ever watched.

This is my biggest hope for this year's team: Play as one.

IMO, being an especially physical presence has not been part of Kunz's game. He's got the size for such a role, and I'd love to see him become a true power forward, but I don't know if that's his game.

Right. You can’t overstate the importance of playing as a connected five-man unit. Quinnipiac, for example, had elite connection last season.

Sacha Boisvert pots his first two goals of the season tonight, the second assisted by David Klee. The Muskegon team has a number of UND connections: three UND commits (Boisvert, Klee, and Cody Croal); Evan Trupp is an assistant coach; and Coach Berry's son Bauer is also on Muskegon's roster.
