  1. Has anybody seen Joe?? You see Joe?? You saw Joe?? Im sitting right next to Joe BTW. Do you know Joe?
  2. The way I see our bye week: Coyote howl of disappointment. Bison stampede to clean out locker rooms. Coaches Jack Rabbit start to next season.
  3. Hugh didn't watch Football. He had his eyes on the cheerleaders!
  4. I have some Vegum pucks made in Slovakia that came from Winter Sports Arena that was on 2nd Ave N (now where HPC is), will have to post. Found follow information on web site at the bottom. The Vegum factory was built in 1952 and privatized in 1991 and now it is a join stock company with shares traded on the Stock market. They manufacture large amount of different rubber injection mould products. My interest is in hockey pucks. Hockey pucks were manufactured until end of 1992 under Made in Czechoslovakia label and from January 1993 they are manufactured as Made in Slovakia. They also do logos on them with silk screen process in silver and gold colors. Their production is 6 million pucks per year. Canadian and American Hockey League is using pucks made by Vegum in all their games. Published in the Slovak Heritage Live newsletter Volume 6, No. 3, Fall 1998 http://www.slovakheritage.org/Misc/pucksvegum.htm
  5. That one is in better shape than mine. Do you know if it was a game puck? Don't know when they started with the silk screen on the face of the pucks. The word OFFICIAL has larger letters like mine and smaller letters like mine on Czechoslovakia.
  6. What if we worry about E Washington 1st, 4 days 2 go, no coaching changes going to be made this week, this game is winnable especially with what has transpired in the the Eagles last 11 days.
  7. Not good news for SD. http://bit.ly/2hp7BaN https://twitter.com/thevolante/status/925176354726957061 … www.argusleader.com/story/news/crime/2017/10/30/two-university-south-dakota-football-players-arrested-rape-charges/816004001/ www.keloland.com/news/article/investigates/who-posted-bail-for-usd-football-players
  8. If you can find tickets (agree with srig's advice), by all means go, quite an experience at one of the best hockey programs in the country. Quite the venue.
  9. Welcome and hope to see you at the Hawk's Nest. I'm in section 215. If your in the visitor's section 217, we'll be close. Outside will be 18 degrees in the morning and 28 degrees at game time with 15 mph wind. 8" of wet snow last Saturday, that froze rock hard since. Inside will be 70 degrees, no sun. This was supposed to be the game of the season for us, well we fell on hard times, still hope to make a game of it. I'm going deer hunting and will get back just in time for the game so will not make it to tailgating, but if your up to that, you'll find plenty of friendly fans to the south of the Hawk's Nest.
  10. If I remember the UND Alumni association had a ND gaming license, don't know if they still do. What about the raffle money (50/50) at the hockey games, that's gaming, isn't it?
  11. In five days the season is over. All these injuries and not one additional player will be healthy enough to play Saturday, doesn't seem right? Not many optimistic supporters here. E Wash has only won two more games than we did. Who knows, E Wash may not be mentally ready for this game, they've had a tough last ten days. It is possible this game could be close, especially if some of our wounded show up. I'm going to enjoy the game, waited a year for this baby. GO HAWKS!
  12. SUU Eccles Coliseum ATTENDANCE: 7,641 Thunderbird and Hawk fans
  13. How many injured may we have back for this game or is it that most injuries were season ending? With Gubrud out, there has to be a chance of winning this thing. At this point, a W would be a big positive ridding out the OFF SEASON. HUGE !
  14. Ten in my party will be there a dozen rows below you.
  15. These straps really work in the pinch and not that hard to put on.
  16. Over the centuries, that story has been grossly exaggerated by goofs fans in the metro area, with two major flaws; this is how it is told by the elders in the Dakotas. First of all, it was not students, it was Sioux Indians from the far reaching plains NW of Lake Nokomis that would come onto that pond with an oak stick and out skate (on moccasins) the locals. Gophers would temporarily come out of hibernation and line up on the shores to watch the annual Big Game. Secondly, the hockey puck was a chunk of frozen bissons sh$t.
  17. Good thing we are not playing at Memorial Stadium this morning, more than a few inches of snow on the ground this morning in GF. Just blew some snow, pretty high moisture content. Thinking like 3 turnovers in our favor plus great defense would be a good thing for use in FB this afternoon and with that get by SUU with a W and make that game with E Wash next week something to look forward to?
  18. Spot On is Bucky in Wisco was around way B4 U
  19. Wisco was used by fans in 1969 when Wisconsin joined the WCHA.
  20. In the early years, c. 1860-1870s, a rubber ball was the object used in hockey. Because the ball bounced too much, a block of wood was sometimes used instead. The modern hockey puck was invented around 1875. There are two different versions of its origination. One story claims that in 1875, students at Boston University sliced a rubber ball in half to make a puck. Another version places the evolution in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. The owner of one of the first indoor ice rinks, Victoria Rink, also allegedly sliced a rubber ball in half. In any case, the first recorded use of a flat disk was in Montreal in March 1875. http://www.madehow.com/Volume-6/Hockey-Puck.html#ixzz4xI8B92Mf
  21. I would think even Bizon fans would know that we make our own ice at The Ralph, that should then included everyone. How about who makes these hockey pucks? From looking at the pictures above, it seems like we bought them from Canada and Czechoslovakia years ago. I seen on the pregame video at the St. Lawerence Friday MH game, a hockey puck machine making hockey pucks, does the Ralph have one? This video was showing stuff that goes on at The Ralph to start the hockey season.
