PCM- i have classes with the guy and it is not a knock on him, but rather a knock on placing so much stock in the WCHA all-academic team (players form all schools)....some members are in tough academic programs and have to balance a ton with hockey and school. but face it, many are just going through the motions in easy courses.

read it yourself - all it says you are a good hockey player and played a lot for your team- getting B's in easy classes is not that difficult. He is a good player - I am just saying lets not get carried away with his smarts! If you can't get B's in general college courses - there is something wrong with you. I assure you he is not sitting in organic chemistry or advanced physics.

Wake up. Gee, a guy was able to pull "B's" while challanging himself in the academic world of Frank White courses and ceramics....when is his application for the Rhodes Scholarship due?

What makes you think players develop better by playing 40 games against lower-level college competition rather than 80 games at a higher level AHL or ECHL competition?

Maybe, but only because he regrets pissing his chance away to make a living playing a kids game. Also, if you are drafted and done with college elegibility - that signing bonus shrinks as there are no other options left (like returning to school) And by the way, minor league players are not paying for dental work out of their own pocket.

Let's not forget that the signing bonus is for keeps and it is quite rare for UND grads to start out at $80,000 a year in regular jobs. And I think most people who have played the game would agree that getting paid $80,000, or even the couple hundred a week in the ECHL is a pretty good life!

If they are coming here to look for pro-hockey career advice - it is already over for them...."yes young man, you should turn down 3 million dollars as it just may not be in your best interest to be financially set at age 19....think about your future."
