  1. He is just one example and really he isn't close to one the worst. I used to read and post on the hockey board but I was driven away from it. I have lived in several major sports markets in the US and Hockey isn't even on the radar in either. I understand the lack of interest in Houston but Seattle wasn't much better.
  2. Hayduke is a great example of why I hate UND hockey fans. I still love UND hockey but a large group of the fans make it difficult with the blind arrogance they demonstrate. At UND hockey is and will always be the #1 sport but to almost everywhere else in the country it's a 2nd or 3rd tier sport.
  3. I remember Lennon making some gutsy calls and most worked out so everyone loved him, but if doesn't work out he's the goat. It seems to me a lot of fans here want Muss to be the goat no matter what he does. Hell, people (fans I guess) want Hak fired almost every year.
  4. If people think UND is more talented than NDSU they are delusional. The only position UND has a clear and major advantage would be WR. NDSU would own both sides of the LOS against UND right now.
  5. When I played Montana had a team in the ND league and my team played in a separate league in Manatoba as well. At that time the only teams from the eastern half of ND were from Fargo.
  6. People are basing it off of one game against poor competition. He might be great, but I haven't actually seen enough to know.
  7. 15 may not sound right but 2-3 kids doesn't make sense either. So they have 10 kids in this weekend and are only offering walk on spots, they certainly will not get all or probably even half of those kids to commit.

I do agree that I think the defense should have made more improvements during the season but they didn't and that was frustrating to watch.

So you don't think coaches adapt and change how they do things? If that's the case how is Belichick so successful in New England? He certainly didn't have a great start to his NFL head coaching career and he is now a hall of fame coach. You don't have the slightest clue as to what is being done within the team and coaching staff to make improvements so how can you say it's the same thing. Yes the football team has a lot to improve on (mainly on defense) without having such a dramatic drop off in other areas. I didn't like what a saw with the defense this season but the passing game made an equally dramatic improvement over the past several seasons and that doesn't just happen by dumb luck or chance.

Not really sure how the Bison being good makes Muss a bad coach but the real issue and why we have gotten behind SU stems back to when they made the jump to FCS and we waited. That decision looked good at the time but in hindsight it feels like UND made a big mistake.

I get that comparison isn't comparing the exact same situation but it is still foolish for someone outside of the personnel within UND athletics that have direct knowledge of the whole story to call for someone's job. If we had a bunch of conduct issues and we were really struggling on the field I would bet the staff would be changed. As far as I can tell Muss and company have been good at dealing with issues that arise and haven't let some of the bad apples get away with things and influence the team in a negative way. I understand the defense was bad this year, but I know the staff really focused on improving the passing game and it was pretty dang good this season. Yes the staff has work to do but I think they have earned the chanced to work and make adjustments without people being all over them and any mistake they make. Did people really expect us to walk into the Big Sky and dominate from the outset? Do I agree with every call made? No, but it's hard for me to criticize to much when I wasn't the one in the situation. It's really easy to complain and say what if after the fact and I am guilty of this all the time but I try not to take it to the extreme some posters feel are OK with.

Would you really like it if someone or many someones who only watched you work a couple times a year was able to evaluate you in your job? They wouldn't have a very accurate perspective of what it is you are doing and working to improve, but they should all be able to spout off about how you suck and should be fired. I think everytime I get poor service at a restaurant from now on I will demand that the server be fired to the restaurant and it's managers before I leave.

I can buy into it to a certain extent because you and I don't really know what is important to each individual. I would say that most of the time what is said here has little or no effect on recruiting but if we even lose one recruit due to the negativity on the board it is to many. These decisions are often very difficult for a player to make and I would rather not be part of the problem in pushing a student athlete to choose another University.

Great post and I agree that the fans here in general are far to negative in regards to the coaching staff. Many on the forum write without looking at or really having any true knowledge or idea about the situation. All coaches make mistakes just like everyone else on the planet, but some on here will pull up a few minor things they didn't like and scream and yell saying the coach is clueless and needs to be fired. In general the coaches have done a good job and I think it is clear things are getting better for UND football but it's a work in progress. The offense took a major leap forward this season and the defense took a major leap backward, but I will bet the defense plays much better next season because I think the coaches know what they are doing and will do everything possible to correct the situation. The current staff certainly doesn't warrent criticism they get from the uninformed and clueless. If you don't agree with a something the coach does and can be constructive I don't take issue with that but I can't stand the blind overreaction and jumping to we need to fire the coach or staff or we will never be good. Even great coaches can't win championships every year or even have winning records every year. This staff was put in a tough spot by things they had no control over and in the next couple years we should finally see how good or great they can be with a more normal situation.

    SUU game

Off topic but it looks like Dale has started to get it figured out at SIU.
  17. The OT's never seem to adjust to the speed rush by the DE's
  18. Wow, the UND defense has a lot of trouble getting off the Montana State blocks.
  19. Miller has looked good on the few carries he has.
  20. I get that UND's coaching decisions seemed off for parts of the game but certain players didn't look very good in the 3rd quarter either. The defense wasn't great but played a lot better today, when I watch I still feel like they let the play come to them and try to tackle instead of stepping up to make the tackle. Maybe to much thinking and not enough reacting, it almost seems like they are overcoached.
  21. Right now I almost wish we had Crookstons defense.
  22. UND has to onside because the defense can't get a stop.
