  1. Over/under on the number of the usual twats (mostly Duluth fans these days) filling their diapers on Twitter because he said Sioux?
  2. And just like that, Perunovich is no longer a serious Hobey contender
  3. Been out of town so this may be old news, but Jake Sanderson is on the cover of USA Hockey magazine.
  4. Is the Hall of fame game opponent already decided? I'm assuming they still have a monopoly on that game. Hard pass on it though. Over-saturating the novelty games is a mistake, and the Gophers made a deliberate decision to let our rivalry cool down. Let's just stick to taking over 3M(tm) arena.
  5. As the decade comes to a close, I want to give a shout out to an unheralded personal favorite, the True Sioux of the decade: Connor Gaarder. Coming in as a last second replacement for a late defection, I admit a bias against his hometown (justified) and previous league (less justified, although the NAHL is much better now). As luck would have it, we wound up shorthanded that season, and once he cracked the lineup he never left. No quit in his game, always gave it his all. When we got into it with WMU at Lawson, literally every player was physically overmatched, and he was the only one holding his ground. Scored one of the most memorable goals of the decade, and scored in every Frozen Four game he played in. Also single-handedly prevented BU from sweeping us in our barn. A team full of players like him would be fun to watch. Cheers to you, Connor.
  6. ASU-Harvard supposedly sold 2500 tickets at the Ducks practice arena. Glad that we're not the only ones able to fill a barn for a destination game.
  7. Can't believe they let a scumbag like Hunter coach their team. Something tells me they won't be showing his career-defining "highlight".
  8. Not the skater from that team I was expecting to commit.
  9. I very much agree with it being a good vacation spot during the season, but with a D1 team in town it just doesn't make sense to have a "destination" game there. By the time it's scheduled, ASU *should* be breaking ground on their arena, and we could just schedule a home-and-home series with them. Same reason Boston, Denver and St. Paul aren't going to (or at least shouldn't) be destinations. If all else fails, Vegas would work a second time, with T-Mobile the host instead. I think Seattle is being considered because it covers a different region of the country. That's also why Tampa/Miami should be considered; Nashville and Florida are geographically and culturally different enough that it feels unique. My vote is Miami, if only because I've learned to never try to recreate the magic.
  10. That's what I like about college athletics, I get older, they stay the same age....
  11. Ah. Even more frustrating that it won't have ice...
  12. Texas just spent $130 million (all donated) on a new basketball arena/concert venue. Was disappointing that they didn't put ice capabilities in.
  13. Both were good transfer pick ups who showed up and played the right way from day one. I cringe to think how bad the last two years would have been without Jones.
  14. Free game of the night on the NHL app for those without access otherwise. Also Nelson and Grimaldi both scored in the Isles-Preds game. Each with a snipe.
  15. What about Cleveland, Flint and Indianapolis? You clearly just don't like Seattle. Love it or hate it, you're gonna hear a lot about it as they announce their team name and build what looks to be an awesome arena.
  16. Seattle is one of the most prosperous, beautiful places on the planet, it has a fellow PAC 12 school, it's about to have a state of the art facility, Seattle's aviation high school sends tons of grads to UND, I could go on. Meanwhile Gila River Arena is considered not nice enough for the Coyotes to stay viable by Bettman himself.
  17. Isn't the rumor that ASU is the potential opponent for the next destination game in Seattle?
  18. Ryan O'Reilly flips from Denver to ASU. Both he and Smilanic (sp) were blue chips that they didn't want after getting their commitments. Interesting.... no wait... that other thing..... tedious.
  19. It was clear there would be some casualties of hockey version of #metoo, but Montgomery being the first is a shocker. Will be interesting to hear the details whenever they trickle out.
