Well worth the time to read. It's hard to believe everything he says but it's good to get his perspective. https://www.therinklive.com/mens-division-1/big-10/fired-hockey-coach-mel-pearson-speaks-for-the-first-time-on-what-really-went-down-at-michigan

An absolute stud who we spotted before anyone else. Took off like a rocket in the USHL and impressed us all from day 1 in Grand Forks. Cheers to him as well the coaching staff that recruited and developed him. https://thehockeynews.com/news/get-ready-for-the-shane-pinto-show-senators-fans

2022-23 University of North Dakota Hockey Season

If ESPN doubled the payout compared to what they make on their own, they would no longer have the expense of running it themselves, and eyeballs would skyrocket with casual observers and potential new fans. I'm personally fine with the status quo but ratings drive college athletics. A hypothetical Summit League hockey conference would be foolish to not partner with a major provider. -

The Rink Live podcast mentioned that the league looked at ESPN+ and FloHockey to replace NCHC.tv. Either ESPN low-balled them or the league is raking it in with their own streaming platform. Maybe a combination of the two. -

Between the save and the multiple water bottle pops this is worth watching too. Obviously we look back with tinted glasses because of our success in it, but the Final Five was truly special. -

Here's another great clip from that era. Frattin always celebrated like he's done it before and he'll do it again. -
Hensler doesn't turn 16 until next month; it's possible he is a sophomore and can't commit until next August.

A onetime beer league teammate was a club player at U of O, said Knight harbors resentment to the sport of hockey after Nike bought high and sold low with Bauer. That was in the 90's though, hopefully he's over it by now.
-
WBL native, NTDP alum and former Badger Jake Martin is playing juniors, worth keeping an eye on.
-
Who knows if he even would have made it to campus if he hadn't decommitted. Could have would up like Mitchell Mattson, getting his offer pulled for not performing in Juniors. Now Donovan serves as another cautionary tale for anyone trying to jump from MN HS to D1.

Only team Moorhead native Sam Laurila follows is Tech...although he also follows NCHC, Frisch, Kleven and Sanderson. We undoubtedly are on him.

Makes me miss Lucia.

In theory yes, not sure how it applies to partial scholarship or walk-on.

We need to be compensating hockey players at the very minimum on par with CHL stipends. I'm still convinced Gerlach bolting for MJ cost us a tournament appearance.

Any details, links, etc.?

Jost left a year early to get paid, with NIL he could have stayed. Hockey players are generally not from poor families, but not everyone is the son of an NHLer or banker. The anecdotes about Kristo and Forbort sharing an 80's minivan were amusing, but considering what they could have been making from NIL shouldn't happen again.
-
Are there any whispers of one starting? McFeely did his part to kick the tires for the JV football dynasty, maybe Brad could do the same? While hockey is different from football, it'd be pretty frustrating to find out we missed on a targeted recruit because they got a nice NIL deal elsewhere.

They just aren't particularly interesting or varied in their escapades. They have good flow and banter, which is good for passive listening.
-
Has Beens w/ Boeser was a good listen. Decommiting from WI partly because they didn't give Sheehy or Jack Achan a look is interesting since they got Roman. Also knowing TTD was integral to sealing the deal for him shows it's worth the cost and then some. If either of the hosts reads this, please put a timestamp link in the episode description for the interview start time. Most listeners aren't tuning in to hear what you do with your weekends.

Thank you! With Fantilli in Ann Arbor it'll be his time to shine for the Steel.

Can someone with an Athletic subscription sum up the Perron info from the article Brad shared? Blue chip out of Winnipeg, more of those, por favor.

Augustana adding hockey was perceived as a way into the Summit League from day 1. Summit/MAC hockey shouldn't catch anyone off guard, and might get Buffalo and some other schools to explore it.

Seeing that McMorrow chose Denver over UND and UMD is rough. Coffee is for closers, 2 is not a winner, etc.
