Charlie Burggraf steps down from his PWHL head coach role before it even starts. Had him as a youth sports coach (not hockey); great guy and easily the best coach I ever played for. He possessed great perspective and taught me some lessons outside of athletics.

An adult I knew growing up was a former D1 basketball player at a "Hidden Ivy" known more for academics than athletics. Even in the 70's it was clear sports comes first for student-athletes; he was told to attend every class and sit in the front row, and he'd never get less than a C. It's a different world now, but it's hard to imagine that rule of thumb no longer applying.

The relationship between NCAA and MJ will change soon. All it takes is one player pointing out in a lawsuit that NIL pays much more than the paltry stipend they get, and suddenly you can play NCAA after a full career in MJ. I give it 5 years.

That would definitely rock the boat. Only RIT, HC and Bentley have the academic standards to move up to the ECAC, but then again with the ivies gone, that may not matter anymore. This may be wishful thinking, but hopefully the next round of realignment recognizes that the sport is regional and rivalries can't be forced.

It really was only a matter of time. It makes conference games/standings more important; previously all that mattered was home ice in the first round. I personally almost exclusively cared about pairwise up to this point, that will change when this happens.

He is leaving the team in better shape than he found it, is doing a good job as the captain, and definitely strives for legendary status. He will be missed; hopefully he departs a champion.

Blake had a bad weekend, he's only human and hopefully has the self-awareness to learn from mistakes. Lay off the kid, and please don't spread rumors without evidence. Expectations are high due to success we've had, and CC being a worthy opponent for the first time since they eliminated us from the Final Five over a decade ago makes it that much tougher to swallow. We've had successful seasons with comparable if not bigger setbacks.

Not only that, but telling the team with your rights that they need to shop you. As a Portlander, it boggles my mind that this is a destination. The practice rink is a dump, opponents are a long bus ride away, and local support fell off. Also, the Blazers arena no longer has an ice plant so they play their games at a rink that looks like the one from Slap Shot.

Lindenwood cut 9 sports; hockey isn't one of them, but that's a bad sign for the long term viability.

I know Omaha had a fall from grace like that within the last decade.
