  1. Just what we all needed: Another reason for the Legislature to cast the stink-eye toward NDUS institutions. (State laws were broken by student-athletes. Don't think this won't be used by some in the Legislature at a later date. And it will be good for none.)
  2. ... this time. Hopefully UND student-athletes either (a) understand integrity and what a signature on a legal document means, or (b) are being schooled hard by their coaches about it.
  3. These guys were paid to go out and gather signatures (completely legal). However, the AG is claiming they added fraudulent signatures to the petitions they turned in and were caught. http://www.ag.state....ts/09-04-12.pdf Key excerpts: Note: That's the same level of charge that former NDSU linebacker Brendan Jemison faces for his junk out in public "wardrobe malfunction".
  4. It's September in just over 9 hours. Guess it's time to start making sure the important things are prepared and ready for the hockey season in five weeks. Goal celebration? Check.
  5. You don't get onto the ice unless you can do some of each.
  6. The all black uniform? New school, meet old school. (If you listen I recommend headphones as it's mixed to draw out the mash-up.)
  7. From http://siouxfb.areavoices.com/ Gee, not that long ago another guy brought up using Jake Hanson (in an emergency) to preserve Bartels and Mollberg. Who was that guy, and why does my shoulder suddenly hurt?
  8. Uh, ... where? I don't see it on their site or in a tweet.
  9. No, there was contact in the game.
  10. Lines? Getter, Setter, Shooter. Getter: The guy who "gets" the puck either through speed (out-racing to the puck) or owning the boards, this person gets it to ... Setter: The creative one on the line, the guy who knows where his teammates are and sets the up while still creating his own chances. Shooter: The guy who seems to be open in the scoring space wherever that may be, and has the shot to make it happen. Getter. Setter. Shooter.
  11. I keep hearing how deep we are at receiver, so, run (QB converted to TE) Seth Nichols under center as Hendrickson's backup for a couple weeks. They'll only have to run the "no Hanson" playbook: Jake goes left, Jake goes right, Mitch up the middle. Up 21? Oh Jer ... Up 35? Oh PJ ... Yes, Nichols is listed as a TE but we never throw to TEs anyway so just tell Taylor Grant that it's time to put the blocking pads on.
  12. Sometimes less is more: they need to turn the PA system down.
  13. I thought he was going to go down when he stumbled on the Alerus swoosh thing. Great balance.
  14. "Always with the negative waves, Moriarity."
  15. Structurally Hyslop is sound. Beyond that it needs work. No matter what, the academic part of UND would love that space on the map, right by Witmer, Abbott, Leonard, and Starcher. You really can't do anything with Hyslop until the current occupants have somewhere to go, hence today's announcement. The long-range plan for the on-campus Wellness Center included building a pool on the north end at some point.
  16. It's easier to be on the sidelines and whine about what's happening than to be in the arena. Teddy Roosevelt said something like that once. I still trying to come up with a way to use this meterological phenomena to UND's advantage. I like how I put it here (paraphrased): Your world turns green just before you are thrashed by an unstoppable force.
  17. http://www.undsports.com/ViewArticle.dbml?DB_OEM_ID=13500&ATCLID=205670708 And that explains the Altru logo on the floor of The Al.
  18. "According to UND President Robert Kelley, $9 million will serve as the leadership gift for a new UND Athletics Complex, an indoor practice and competition facility on campus." Does the phrase "leadership gift" imply we may be seeing the Altru name on that building?
  19. The last story I'd heard was that they were about $2 million short of the $20 million to build what they wanted in an ITF. A $9 million gift should take care of that and more.
  20. What would be so complicated? "Hi, we're leaving." They'd have a new organization and new bylaws (and television deals) in place in no time. Why? There's money to be made by them. I was skeptical of "three tiers" until I read what Saban and Benson said recently. Now I believe we may see it as soon as 2014 (new playoff).
  21. Or NMSU AD Boston is three weeks behind (or completely, cluelessly out of the loop).
  22. Altru? Are we sure someone didn't misspeak (confusing Alerus and Altru)? Picture, please.
  23. What's the commissioner of the Sun Belt Conference saying? Gee, it sounds like Benson (SBC commish) has heard of something like Saban's plan (top 70 or so). Where else would this "below the line" conferences statement come from? My guess? Above the line: SEC, Pac-12, Big Ten, ACC, Big 12*, Big East* Below the line: Sun Belt, MAC, C-USA, Mountain West, WAC (RIP) So there's the "third tier" (middle tier) of Division I football de facto forming. And if Benson is looking to limit "body bag" games that'll affect budgets (see article) so don't be surprised if budget issues don't lead to "reduction in scholarship limits" discussions later. http://sports.yahoo.com/news/sun-belt-sets-sights-catching-084224055--ncaaf.html *I could see the Big East pilaged by the others in the coming days and the BE remnants ending up "below the line" or the Big Twelve folding up shop with the remnants going to the other "above the line" conferences.
  24. I had The General as a dark-horse candidate for an A.
