University of North Dakota Hockey 2017-18 Season
The Sicatoka replied to Frozen4sioux's topic in Men's Hockey
I agree completely and for one very important reason: Jonathan Toews. Yes, Jon Toews. Nick Schmaltz gets to show up and be "new guy Nick" and learn under Captain Serious. There is no one of that nature in Colorado. That would not help Tyson Jost's development and could be a drag on his career. If Tyson needs to come in and be "The Man", give him the time to learn that role at UND before throwing him in at Colorado. -
Like I told PCM in a text last night when DU scored their ENG: "Officials now reviewing to see if DU offsides at 6 minute mark of second period."
-
He still juniors-eligible age wise so Jost would fall under those rules (to MJ, not AHL).
-
From PCM's take on the off-sides rule: I'd say if the goal was scored right off the line rush, sure, review, and disallow. However, if the play was so close that the officials allowed it at entry by the attackers, and if the defending team got defensive zone possession (not a clear, just possession) you do not review back for an off-sides entry if a goal is scored. Before you ask, "What is possession", I'd define it as whatever would stop play if a delayed penalty were about to be called (just a puck-controlling touch is enough).

That said, I stand by my previous positions: http://boardsroom.blogspot.com/2015/02/what-nchc-needs-to-change.html

Folks, we have a PCM sighting. I repeat, we have a PCM sighting! http://boardsroom.blogspot.com/2017/03/there-should-be-more-reasonable.html

Uh-oh. Note what The 'Cou calls them.

Remember: Faison had to follow a State mandated hiring process. Drake is private; what's their excuse?

The president of UND has the authority to pick a nickname and a logo. Kelley used his authority to do committee after committee and ended up with something some don't like. Schafer used his authority to make a decision and ended up with something some don't like. Moral of the story: Not everyone will be happy with any process or any decision.

Yes, but which previous administration? Tom Clifford had great working relationships with the tribes and could've gotten a "perpetuity" deal. Kendall Baker? Well the jerseys went blank under him for a while, then geometric, so you know what his end goal was. Charles Kupchella could've followed through on the First Amendment threats and taken the NCAA to court on that. Robert Kelley floundered with committee after committee instead of leading and taking actions. By the time (interim) Schafer and Kennedy arrived, things had been pushed around the playing field as much as they possibly could and needed to be acted upon. And so they have.

NDUS Budget Cuts (changed name to be system-wide)

No, not a Med School, but this is duplication. http://www.inforum.com/news/4240226-nurses-needed-ndsu-plans-new-28-million-addition-msum-considers-restarting-program -
Boys Night Out - a picture from VAN@WPG last night. I recognize a few. Who all is in that photo?

Not sure if serious ... however, I will say I do wonder if the "Drama's of Brock" weren't a distraction this year. Drama's? Yes. Coming back (and the "oh, he could've gone!" noise); the wrist and associated surgery; the "how quick will he be gone after season's end?". Team first. OneUND.

Worried about getting hurt and losing a professional career? Lloyd's of London. Yes, you can get an insurance policy against a career-ending injury in college. I'm sure you could get Lloyd's to write it to compensate you for the equivalent of a "rookie max" deal that you'd lose. And honestly, it'd be fairly inexpensive.

I appreciate the sentiment, but it's a decade or two too late.

Kolpack serving as Pravda for the Central Party Committee. http://www.inforum.com/sports/4240837-kolpack-key-departures-closing-gap-between-summit-and-valley Apparently there's too much interest in the MVC and that needed to be patted down. OK, now that my snide cynicism is covered for a Monday, < gulp > Kolpack may have a point. Wow. Kolpack just implied that UND is more "friendly" as a conference-mate than Drake, Evansville, Loyola, and Bradley.

University of North Dakota Hockey 2017-18 Season
The Sicatoka replied to Frozen4sioux's topic in Men's Hockey
My first hand observation yesterday was that UND may have been the smallest team in Fargo. Ohio State has a couple big guys, BU is big, and UMD is mammoth. Yeah, Tucker Poolman was out, but those teams were just bigger. Is there anything UND can add this off-season to put some size back into the line-up? -
Give him a break Mafia. He is what he is.

Now to the forwards, based on yesterday I think 9 and 27 are going to make misery for a lot of folks for a few seasons. -
So, did the Gophers transfer the "best team at the break" award to the Wild?

Historically, sophomores with a low career minutes total don't return.
