Fifth year players put a bulge in the recruiting pipeline that is hard to work through. Ponder: eight seniors, three early signees, and a portal departure. That's 12 to replace. That's too many "freshies" on a roster. UND got away with it this time because of Covid and the portal option to ... stealing a phrase "flatten the curve" of the bulge.

Not really. Gaber (MIH) had a fast start in the pod but didn't maintain that pace. Sanderson (MIH) had a season that met, and end that exceeded expectations; however, he, and Gaber were overshadowed by Pinto, Kawaguchi, et al, stealing most of the hockey headlines. That hurt their causes. Meanwhile Schuster was the reliable, consistent, steady engine of UND Football this spring. (Some would say he's not a high revving engine, but diesels are good too.) Frankly, one could make a reasonable argument for Bo Belquist.

Kunz had been talked up by Schlossman a couple weeks ago; even I put him as a most likely, with no second option, on the list I've kept here for last couple weeks. Since April 12, this thread, Kunz' name is the only one by one of the open slots. The last remaining is Bowen or Constantini, but I wouldn't be surprised if the coaches pulled another name out of their hat.

Outside receiver runs skinny post or post-corner to clear the area for the flat route. The RB runs a wheel route the other way. TE reads the blitz and releases to the middle if he's not blocking.
