You're not wrong. Now why does a 24 win over a "more skilled" 18? The 24 not only has more testosterone (bigger body) but a more developed brain and is better able to accomplish complex behavioral performance. In simpler words, the 24 has the better body and better brain to process and understand and then perform the correct action in the game at the time. Even simpler: College hockey is an upperclassman's game.

You see an 18 y/o, 6'2", 178 pound freshman (top 60 NHL pick) headed into the corner for a loose puck with a 24 y/o, 6'1", 200 pound senior and both arrive at the same time. What happens next?

That thought process is why I like adding Sidorski. He has a reputation as a defensive minded shot blocker. Assuming he's playing, I'd like to keep PK pucks off of Ethan Frisch and Chris Jandric so their legs are more lively late in games. In general, I'd like the third pair to be able to play more PK and keep that wear off the top pair.

And as far as "having the sport", that's on the NCAA. They mandate number of men's and women's sports to be considered DI. Again you don't have to like or agree* with it, but you have to follow the rules. *I'm on record more than once that "sport sponsorship" minimums for division levels is ridiculous --> Play what you and your fan base can and will support, nothing more, nothing less, while staying in compliance with Federal law.

Two freshmen centers. Two freshmen on a line with a guy who is reasonably* responsible defensively. Yeah-no, those are lines for practice and experimentation. *Game day I'd expect that word to be 'exceptionally'.

That and the open locker room space.

What's "book" on Colton Hackel? He has an easy throwing motion and a relatively big arm in the (admittedly few) video clips I've seen of him. Is there potential there?

I feel that way all the time with Jack Michaels. His PxP is more "recap" of the play that just happened. That might be good on TV but I struggle with it on radio.

This is a legitimate point. Look back at FBS games: With about 11 minutes left the game turns. Happened Saturday; happened against Texas Tech years back. We’re strong enough, but endurance seems just short at times.

Before you bust on Brian too hard, he and Kalen DeBoer were the biggest nemeses to UND FB about 15-20 years ago. Fast forward and they’re wearing purple in Louisiana or Washington, and gettin’ paid. Where are our head coaches from that era?

I say we fire Bubs, hire @gfhockey and if no first year Natty we fire him (and deport him to Duluth where he seems he’d rather be at times). And if he does win a Natty, if it’s not back to back … fired.
