  1. I wish UND held to a uniform theme across all sports. Black helmets, green helmets, don't care, but can we be consistent across hockey and FB.
  2. A bunch of us here knew of this for weeks and been cringing should it come out. And many of us have been trying to head it off by contacting UND as @iramurphydescribes. UND could've gotten in front of this but didn't.
  3. Well, according to @Frozen4sioux there's a grand master 'strategery' in play. He'll explain.
  4. True. Using someone else's TM in commerce is a far different area. You'd best have signed usage (license) agreements. Hope UND had and can show those and didn't just have a verbal "sure, go ahead" okey-dokey.
  5. It's been on both sides for at least two if not three seasons. It started when they went to black-on-green instead of green-on-green stickers. Still looking for the words "Fighting Hawks" on a hockey jersey worn by Berry's team.
  6. 100% Do it like you mean it or not at all.
  7. Before recently I'd only referenced the patents portion of USPTO.gov.
  8. I'll do you one better ... (and that was for @Langster019 )
  9. Agree. Even if every intent was good-willed and non-malicious, how this appears is unsavory for the Berrys and completely uncomplimentary to UND.
  10. Cleaner ... as long as he recused from jersey decisions also. But still not a great look. And why not tell that to the press and be done?
  11. And here's Mafia's business card.
  12. NDSU fans during the vote were ready with NOD--KS.
  13. So, again, Paul Harvey*, quit bloviating and give us "the rest of the story". *the kids that can't do laundry won't get the reference
  14. What if the goal wasn't a buck, but to create a hockey-only identity at UND. That's what @Frozen4siouxseems to be claiming.
  15. It's a party but I do agree with Ms. Romanov's assessment.
  16. Personally I find it more more curmudgeonly, but to each their own.
  17. ... and smelly.
  18. Well if wild speculation is the game ... and following Frozen's trail ... Brad and some cohorts (he'd need a lawyer like the name in Port's story) decide they don't want to use the official UND nickname. So they pick what Berry wanted during voting and use Brianna's LLC to get control over it. They have no profit intent in mind. They just want their own hockey nickname that isn't UND's official name. They get the word and use it, thus creating a new identity that is not UND's official identity. Ingenious. And insubordinate.
  19. There's a word for that.
  20. Hockey is a sub-part of the University of North Dakota, not the other way around. Actions contrary to that are insubordinate.
  21. Meh. He was only CFO for the Pillsbury dough boy. He was never military like Uncle Andy.
  22. The intent, if what you're claiming is true, is attempting to create a hockey-only identity (with no direct profit motive). That is no better of a look. Dare I say it's akin to insubordination.
  23. If the answer is to protect and gift to UND the follow up question is why'd it take until it came to light over two years later.
  24. Not a general. General.
  25. Part of this dilemma is due to UND acquiescing to and attempting to placate the fan base segment that is hanging onto the retired name or looking for something other than the new name to use. If only UND had a commander in chief, a general officer, that could get it all (in Athletics) into alignment. If only.
