  1. I'd love to see an usher enforce the "in your seat when the puck is in play" rule. People trying to get in and out of rows during play drives me nuts. I'd also sell "rush" seating again. I don't like seeing open seats in Sections 307-310. As far as operations of REA, they still operate under the mandate: The arena
  2. I noticed Bochenski also. I would guess it would have been part of his Hobey campaign. Oh well. He chose what he chose. I'm guessing "The Penalty Box" is, beyond restoring the Club Room exclusivity, also a part of the whole WJC concept: There will only one place serving on-sale in GF on Christmas day. Why not open another bar in it? I hear those Canadians like to drink beer, eh. I think the colder lower bowl is a plan to get those folks to move and slap their hands together to stay warm.
  3. I miss what the band did back in the 1980s. They'd play "Fight on Sioux" starting with about three or four minutes left before the start of a period. They'd play it the first time slower than a funeral dirge. They'd maybe be at one beat per second. Once they finished they'd pick up the pace just barely, a nominal fraction, and play it again. Repeat, repeat, repeat, .... (they'd end up playing it close to a dozen times) .... Until (and right about the time you'd hear "Here come your Fighting Sioux!") the band would be playing the tune at a pace of about five or six beats per second! They'd be flying and the place would just be rockin'. The band looked more tired after an intermission than the team after a period.
  4. Where's PCM? Why do I have to take care of this? "The last time I checked, we don't have a lot of songs that feature the cowbell." "I gotta have more cowbell!"...
  5. I believe a buffalo is out because Kansas comes out a couple before ND and their design is already approved and features a buffalo. Why not TR? Bully!
  6. You just said the Sioux actually have goaltending, and deep goaltending at that. You'd better go chug some more of that "brown and yellow" Gopher kool-aid because you're not marching to the music over at POI. Or is 'sagard' a closet Sioux fan (as has been suspected of 'Greyeagle').
  7. I don't think any MacNaughton season is a bad one. However, they did leave unfinished business. I want them to use the end of last year as motivation to be the "1" and not the "0" on the next "1-0" scoreboard.
  8. I hope they remember a 1-0 loss to DU on CC's ice. I hope they remember it every time they look up at a scoreboard. I hope they remember that they can't depend on someone else to get it done. I hope they remember that night and I hope it hurts. I hope they use that memory as motivation to not let it happen again. There's unfinished business that a team, not a couple of marquee name guys, a team needs to deal with.
  9. Banned from Bisonville? Sounds like the name of an HBO or Showtime series. So what'd you do? Did you not drink all of your Bisonville "yellow" kool-aid and start to think independently so they had to excommunicate you? You should know better than to disagree with 'the party line' over there, even if your handle is "bisonfan". PS - Most people make the mistake of saying "marble" instead of "granite".
  10. Let's see how smart this was: Ziggy could have either (a) stayed in GF, redshirted, and been #2 or #3 next year at UND or (b) gone to Duluth, have to sit this year, and been #2 or #3 next year at UMD. I'm not exactly seeing what he gained for himself.
  11. Avoid the ice level areas behind the nets.
  12. Back to the topic of this thread: Delta State 28 <--- helps UND's strength of schedule North Alabama 21 Eastern Washington 39 Central Washington 8 <--- loses to a DI-AA, but scores on them
  13. [url=http://www.fightingsioux.com/sports/mhockey/release.asp?RELEASE_ID=3128]UND men
  14. A nice package for the future should be in place when you come back. Turkey and taco meat.
  15. There's no "AA" in womens basketball. UConn, Tennessee, and a host of other DIs will keep that from happening for a long, long time.
  16. You're living here. Personally, I prefer to look at Sioux hockey this way:
  17. cfm: Everyone seems to be screwing things up. http://board.uscho.com/showthread.php?t=41728
  18. All I know is that the lower bowl portion of the student section at REA had better be full night in and night out. It looks better on TV that way. Plus, if it's not, someone at REA just might start to pencil those in as "Coaches Club". Someone clearly needs to go ask some questions of Student Gov't as to why this "lottery" when they had worked on a "system" all summer.
  19. cfm: This was Student Government controlled, not REA. I asked these same questions at USCHO: One response was that "fair weather fans" got tickets in the lower bowl and some "real, good fans" will have to sit in the upper. How do we know that? Consider my USCHO response to that:
  20. The X is the better arena (i.e. capacity). As a side note, I've been in the third deck of The X watching a game. The players look bigger on a television screen. The Ralph is the better overall facility (arena, training spaces, additional spaces available). PS - Marble is soft. Those floors are granite.
  21. What would one call a North Dakota professional hockey team? How about "Stanley Cup Champions"?
  22. You mean .... a school scheduled an athletic program based on a post-season formula?
  23. Fraction-wise about the same fraction of college hockey teams have a real shot at a national title as the fraction of DI football teams that have a real shot at a BCS title. Fraction-wise, it's probably the same for college basketball as college hockey also. (Who's picking IUPUI to win the Final Four? Alabama-Huntsville in the Frozen Four? Louisiana-Monroe for the BCS?) It's almost a requirement to be near the top in a top conference or you won't be strong enough to get it done. As far as arenas, when former (arch-rival) Gopher, NHLer, and US Olympian, Neil Broten says, "I've been in a lot of rinks, and there isn't any better than this," you know it's probably the best anywhere.
  24. GF Herald story on enrollment numbers. Key notes from it: - UND has about 820 distance learners enrolled this fall, including 42 students who attend classes in UND's Fargo Center. - UND does not include in its count about 300 aviation students who take classes through the John D. Odegard School of Aerospace Sciences at satellite programs around the country. - Kupchella stresses that UND serves as many as 11,000 more people over its total head count, in some way or another, through the school's continuing education division.
