  1. For some reason I just feel it'll be "Lil' Shep".
  2. Brian Lee needs to simplify his game a little bit. He seems to be thinking too much at times. He'll make a good first move and get around a problem, but then he won't move the puck quickly and crisply after that and it gets him in trouble. This pattern seems to happen both on the breakout and at the point on the power play. Move, then move it. Additionally, the worst kept secret in the league is that the clockwise powerplay pass from Duncan or Toews to Lee will not be one-timed at the net by Brian Lee. (Pick the spots to take the shots Brian. I'd much rather have you give up a breakaway because a shot hit a leg and went out to center than to see you get pokechecked and passed by because you were indecisive and held it too long.) Brian needs to relax and simplify what he's doing out there.
  3. I saw the final 13 minutes of Stars at Wild after the Sioux game last night. Up and down and wide open. What a blast! (An eight shooter shoot-out wasn't bad either. ) What I also saw was a simple stick across the waist tug, the same tug that I'd seen 100 of in REA earlier in the evening, get called by the NHL refs for what it is: obstruction hooking. It was the only tug of that sort I saw during 13 minutes of regulation and 5 of OT. If you say you're going to call it, and consistently do, the players will adjust. That is precisely why the NHL product is presently better than the WCHA product. PS - Should I be expecting a royalty check from The Virg for giving him the idea for this column?
  4. Outstanding in two ways! Good job MBB team! Good job Coach Jones and staff!
  5. Those folks love one thing more than their PC-brand of liberalism: Their power. If they vote this in they've handed more power over their domains to the NCAA. An NCAA that is: - looking at who is in your practices (no men in womens practices?) - the articles your SIDs run on the website (ratios of mens to womens stories) - hiring practices of your school for coaches (and Black Coaches Association report cards) Are they really going to vote to hand away some of their power? If so, I hope they get everything coming to them.
  6. Take heart in the following words from here: and here:
  7. PCM and I are in the process of buying a series of local, but high power, stations around the region. I'm going to be Ops Manager and Program Director; he's going to be the News Director, Sports Director, and Prime On-Air Talent. Our format: "All PCM, all the time!" We'll be bidding on UND Athletics.
  8. A wise (old) man told me once: Anybody can say anything. To me, that statement from Brand was, quite simply, posturing.
  9. I've always tempered my lacrosse musings with "If UND were to go DI ..." Well, that "if" is no more. And now Canadian schools (lax is the "other" national sport of Canada) are a real possibility in the NCAA. If should be an interesting ride.
  10. Today at The Ralph: http://www.grandforksherald.com/articles/i...mp;section=News
  11. Holding just over 15k, I think she'd be a "go" too. http://www.mtscentre.ca/
  12. No answer yet to this, and now more money down this rat hole .... NDSU to appeal Ellis ruling
  13. The biggest wind(bag) in ND is back on KFGO. http://www.in-forum.com/articles/index.cfm...mp;section=news Now I'm going to the window to look for four angry dudes on horseback.
  14. Ah, the whims of tribal politics, where everything is always good and righteous and pure.
  15. I agree with these two. Why? Imagine Joe Chapman as Chancellor. Imagine Charles Kupchella as Chancellor.
  16. That was us too. But it was a dollar bill when we gave it. Signed, The Vast Fighting Sioux Conspiracy " ... if you only knew ... "
  17. We're behind it all. Signed, The Vast Fighting Sioux Conspiracy " ... if you only knew ... "
  18. Let's recap for folks who don't "get" this: It's pretty simple.
  19. Did you say "forensic accounting misadventures"? You mean like NDSU and SDSU both having perfect karma where expenses were met exactly, to the dollar, by revenues in FY 2006? Now that's good karma. Poor, poor UND. Their revenues didn't exactly match expences. There was a $350k difference, a difference where revenues exceeded expenses. http://ope.ed.gov/athletics/InstList.asp Somebody caused NDSU's numbers to match to the dollar. Who? Tell me or you're hiding something!
  20. What's so hard about this? Bills?
  21. Kind of like Florida compared to Appalachian State this year? And how does one "rank" popular sports? By their championship game being televised on a network? Their semi-finals? The whole last four playing down being made into a weekend-long prime publicity event? And finally, what does this have to do with Bohl not being hired at Minnesota?
  22. The school on the southern edge of Winnipeg may disagree with you.
  23. So humor us: Point to one that UND and the State lost as badly as NDSU lost in the Ellis case.
