I think there's a limit as to how many gaming licenses are available in GF. I'm sure that heavily regulated as much as liquor licenses. That's why there's such a battle to get those spots.

Minot State isn't D1 either and while they could move up they won't. My better idea is worry about improving our athletics instead of trying to destroy the Summit. Dude, did you react like this the first time your girlfriend dumped you?

Mankato isn't even D1 and the University System in Minnesota will never let any other school move up since it would threaten the Gophers. So you'll have to find someone else to fill their slot in your pipe dream.

After Idaho was dropped by the SBC they begged, pleaded and threatened every other FBS conference for an invite and didn't get one. Dropping back was their only alternative. I can see NDSU being successful in the MW but I doubt they parlay it into anything higher. B12 or B1G won't ever come calling. I suppose the PAC might take them if they think they can get another $17 million in entrance money from them but they shouldn't count on it. My hunch is that NDSU thinks the door will slam shut on moving up so they were desperate. I can't see any other reason to pay that much money. I can sorta see the NCAA continuing to make it harder and harder.

I'm surprised NDSU will pay no exit fee to the MVFC and gets to cancel their '26 games. I always thought the point of having an exit fee was to keep teams from walking away without a long time notice. UND will take a hit over not having that sellout game at the Al.

And football has nothing to do with the Summit League. Give it a rest old boy before you stroke out. I'm not interested in Summit football either. Just get our house in order.

I dislike the Bison as much as anyone but this idea is beyond bizarre. So, using your rationale the Big Sky Conference should have kicked us out when we formed the NCHC in 2011? It certainly has parallels. I'd like to see UND try and pull ourselves up and get in position to move up if it turns out FBS is the way to go and if it isn't, let NDSU fail. No need for this petty stuff that isn't going to happen. Remember it was this same backwards attitude that kept us in D2 when it should have been apparent to everyone that going to 1 AA was the right move. No way does the Summit kick anyone out. And for the record, I still think we should have stayed in the BSC and then we wouldn't have to worry about the Summit collapsing.

I don't foresee a split. The change coming is that the G6 will implement their own playoff system and will heavily curtail the bowl games. The Big Boys don't want another JMU getting into their playoff picture.

I agree with the evolving part but what happens if those that aren't FBS are locked out and can't move up? Remember, we narrowly avoided the 5 year moratorium imposed by the NCAA when we announced the move to D1. I think we got under the wire by something like a month or we would have had to wait 5 years. NCAA keeps putting more restrictions on all the time. The $5 million fee was just added, who knows what's coming next.

Did "we all" think that or was it RT and Kuppy that pushed that line? IIRC there were plenty that wanted to move up but no one at the top had that vision.

The MAC is a bus league. They won't ever expand where they have park the bus and fly. I think they do a lot of midweek games too which can't be very appealing for tailgating or driving in from 3 hours out. MAC is a hard pass for me.

Are they still referred to as Imperial Cass or have they moved on from that?

The only FCS school to drop back that I can think of was Idaho and that was only because the Sun Belt kicked them out and they couldn't find a difference FBS conference. The only other school that really needs to drop back is UMass, and of course Sac State assuming they actually move up.

The thing is, why was UND always playing catchup? It still goes back to 20 years ago when certain people were bound determined to prove NDSU wrong and refuse to look at reason and move up to D1. That moronic move was very costly and will be for a long time.

I was surprised they let us into the MVFC. I think they knew the rest of the state would come down hard on them if they opposed us. I don't doubt they'll try and keep us out of the MW though and I doubt we have any support from any of the other schools anyway.

That's the problem, we'll be pushed back again and we won't have the option to move like we did with FCS years ago. For us to try working our way into FBS is going to be a years and years long process. That FBS tag on them sucks, no other way to word it. So what's our position now on future games? We'll refuse to play them again or we insist they have to play us again? I'm a little confused on that part.

I actually think some of their ex players are bigger jerks than the fans. I've had encounters with a few of them and they think because they once wore a Bison uni they're "it".

I'm OK with the Thursday games but I hate the international ones. It seems there's never anything good on TV despite all the channels available so I'll gladly settle for an NFL game.
