spineguy Posted July 16, 2007 Posted July 16, 2007 That's good to hear. The buzz in Whalin will be visiting UND and play some pick up ball with the girls this week. Quote
star2city Posted July 16, 2007 Posted July 16, 2007 The buzz in Whalin will be visiting UND and play some pick up ball with the girls this week. Lindsay Whalen? Quote
UND92,96 Posted July 16, 2007 Author Posted July 16, 2007 Lindsay Whalen? I assume the poster means Kamille Wahlin. Quote
spineguy Posted July 16, 2007 Posted July 16, 2007 I assume the poster means Kamille Wahlin. Yes,,, Sorry for the misspelling Quote
4siouxnow Posted July 17, 2007 Posted July 17, 2007 If Iowa did offer to her that may be off the table now it was just out last week that they got a commit from a point gaurd from Ohio, so Go Sioux. Let's also find a Big. Quote
UND92,96 Posted July 18, 2007 Author Posted July 18, 2007 Andrea LaFrance had a nice performance in the first game of the Lions all-star series. link. Kirstie Gillett evidently struggled, going 1 for 9 from the field. Quote

siouxrulz27 Posted August 15, 2007 Posted August 15, 2007 Anyone got any information or idea on which way the Wahlin girl is leaning? I hope the Sioux get her. Quote
4siouxnow Posted August 21, 2007 Posted August 21, 2007 Just thought I might start a little ticker till the first game/exhibition of the year. 65 days till tip off. It won't be long. I Think practice starts October 12. Quote
Spudshockey Posted September 1, 2007 Posted September 1, 2007 I assume the poster means Kamille Wahlin. Wahlin won't choose UND because of the post season restrictions with the DI transfer. She'll be playing in the Big Ten next year. Quote
4siouxnow Posted September 4, 2007 Posted September 4, 2007 Just 51 days until the first exhibition game ! Spuds, I think you may be confused the girl in discussion is not a transfer, she is a local high school girl that will be signing somewhere I would guess this November. I have talked with several Coaches and players from different schools and there was much disapointment in the women's NCAA trny after having moved the games to neutral sites, at many locations the games were played in front of mostly empty arenas. This is not a great atmosphere, it contrast the NIT which UND will be eligible to play in was still played on teams home floors and the crowds were much better throughout. Which is more fun going to a Big Ten school and qualifying to play in front of a couple of thousand in a 15K seat arena or playing in front of a crowd in a sold out or close to arena which many of the NIT games were. Spudshockey was referring to UND's transfer (reclassification) to DI, which will harm recruiting because of UND's postseason ineligibility. The NIT is a postseason option (assuming the NCAA doesn't have it in for us with the nickname), but we would need to have a top 80 (or higher) RPI. Quote
star2city Posted September 6, 2007 Posted September 6, 2007 Amy Mahlum named Assistant Coach at Winona State Quote
UND92,96 Posted September 13, 2007 Author Posted September 13, 2007 Per the Sioux Falls Argus Leader, USD coach Chad Lavin will be retiring at the end of this season. He's only 52, but apparently wasn't thrilled about all the extra travel the move to dI will necessitate. Quote
4siouxnow Posted September 14, 2007 Posted September 14, 2007 I sure hope Coach Roebuck isn't having any similar thoughts, I would hope he wants to prove to all that UND can compete with most at the next level. UND women's basketball coach Gene Roebuck said he is interested in playing the Bison as soon as possible. Quote
4siouxnow Posted September 26, 2007 Posted September 26, 2007 Less than a Month till tip off of the first exhibition game. Anyone seen any workouts this fall? What or who do we expect to take over the point. I hope Jossy Bergen is ready if it is her. Is everyone healthy? I see on the roster we have a juco transfer from Lake Region, Samantha Brekke, anyone know much about her, I hadn't heard anything about her before seeing her on the roster, so I assume she is a walkon. What about the NCAA going from 15 to 13 scholarships in D1 for women, this may help during the transition as more players will not get gobbled up by the big programs. However I don't think it is the right thing to do as a whole. Basketball is the only women's sport that really draws attendance and should be rewarded so. Quote

I believe Jossy most likely will be the starting point guard. With regard to Brekke, she's the daughter of current co-acting UND a.d. Steve Brekke, who was a great player for UND in the early 80's. I'm pretty sure she'll red-shirt this year. Quote
4siouxnow Posted September 26, 2007 Posted September 26, 2007 I can't believe I didn't put it together on the Brekke girl. Quote
SiouxMeNow Posted October 1, 2007 Posted October 1, 2007 Amy Mahlum named Assistant Coach at Winona State That's great news! Congrats Amy!!! Quote
4siouxnow Posted October 4, 2007 Posted October 4, 2007 3 weeks from today the women have their first exhibition, I don't think they can start official practice till the 15th, doesn't give them much time. The first games aren't till a month after the 15th however. The Men have no exhibition games this year, what's up with that? Last year they had a couple of exhibitions against Big 10 teams. Has anyone seen the girls playing this fall? Should we expect any of the freshman to see much playing time this winter? Quote

This is just my opinion, but I would kind of expect LaFrance to back up Jossy at the point. As for the other newcomers, I would expect them to probably red-shirt, or else play very little except for in mop-up time. Quote
