Tommiejo
Hey Sprig that's a very impressive list & I mean a very impressive list. I do have one suggestion & maybe the could do that somewhere down the road & that's make it from 50 to 100 WCHA Alums in the NHL. In closing GO BUCS or would ya'll HEY HEY TAMPA BAY. Goon
Sorry Gator, I think the Bucs are going down this weekend. The Raiders are too good and Rich Gannon is God. It will be a great match up though...

SiouxFanInBoston
Thought I'd pass on a couple notes from today's Boston Globe touching on some players trying to make in the NHL (see the end). It seems brutal out there -- yet, for some, the transition seems so simple (for instance, Dany Heatly -- Rookie of the Year, hat trick last night; Chris Drury -- Rookie of the Year). Why do you suppose that is? Lee Goren has been up with the Bruins again the past few games, and although he is doing some good things, he still has a ways to go. Gordy Klusak, former Bruin and current Bruins TV color person, said during last night's game that if Lee is going to make it in the NHL, he really has to become much more physical and use his body more. The Bruins have been alternating having Lee and Andy Hilbert come up for few games a piece. Lee's been up while the Bruins have been winning so, hopefully, he'll get to stay up longer and prove himself. (BTW, here's a link to an unofficial Lee Goren site that posts News about Lee pretty regularly: http://goren.blueskates.com ). Flames coach Darryl Sutter on last week's demotion of defenseman wannabe Jordan Leopold: ''He hasn't done anything to prove he can play in the NHL.'' Oh, how a little bit of honesty can cut through a ton of meaningless coachspeak. Calgary management hoped that Leopold could be force-fed the job after it dealt Derek Morris to the Avalanche for Chris Drury at the start of the season. PCM
Might be good news for Mike Mottau. The Rangers have a terrible record for developing young players. Usually after they're traded, they become stars elsewhere.
dagies
It's interesting that Calgary sent Leo down but traded for Mottau. Maybe nothing, maybe something. I'd like to see Leo do well because he seems like a great guy.
Nathan
There were a couple rumors going around the various NHL and Calgary boards since Sutter took over in Calgary that he does not like having American's on the roster, and really doesn't like having American Collegiate players on the roster. Don't know if there is anything to that, just reporting what I've read recently.
elmduf
I also heard that Sutter doesn't like American College players. I also heard the GM of the Avalanche is trying to fleece Chris Drury back from the Flames.... hmmmmm....
SiouxFanInBoston
I actually hope Chris Drury comes to Boston. (BTW, I left out the part of the Globe notes about Calgary's less-than-enthusiastic response to Drury who hasn't been producing like he did in Colorado. The fans call him "Chris Dreary." I assume he's just not happy in Calgary -- and I guess I don't blame him.)
kr
There were a couple rumors going around the various NHL and Calgary boards since Sutter took over in Calgary that he does not like having American's on the roster, and really doesn't like having American Collegiate players on the roster. Don't know if there is anything to that, just reporting what I've read recently. Sutter seems a little harsh -- there's a quote in the Boston Globe under the section "two way street" http://www.boston.com/dailyglobe2/026/spor..._anymore+.shtml Also (I realize that this thread is for WCHA alums, however this interview is a pretty funny read) Dan Patrick's interview with Marty Turco is downright amusing http://espn.go.com/talent/danpatrick/s/200...5/1504343.html# (if that link doesn't work go to the thread for MT on uscho -- under the alumni board -- thanks to jen for posting it)
forecheck
That interview with Turco was funny! Thanks for posting the link.
