Morrow, a 6-foot-2 second-round draft pick and a cornerstone recruit as UMass tries to maintain its success, scored again Saturday, giving him goals in three straight games. The Minutemen also got goals from a who's who of players that need to rely upon, but who had slow starts on the scoresheet — Cal Kiefiuk, Slava Demin, Reed Lebster and Bobby Trivigno, the NCAA Tournament MVP last year.

For Morrow, it isn't just his first three career goals that's impressed Carvel, but the other end of the ice too.

"We've done a lot of close (video) work together," Carvel said. "He has very good hockey IQ. He sees all of it. He knows exactly where he needs to be better. It's not that he's playing bad, he's just a young player learning how to defend at this level. He said at Shattuck (prep) he always had the puck, and didn't have to defend. Now he has to. He needs to move his feet, get experience in different situations. He's coming along quickly. ... He's a pleasure to coach, a very smart player in addition to a very gifted player."

Morrow could have definitely added another offensive spark to our current d-corps.  If it's true we brought in Johnson instead of Morrow, UMass appears to have the upper hand on that "trade" thus far (Johnson has only dressed in half UND's games).  Although Morrow might end up only being a 1-2 year college player, so Johnson definitely has some time to fulfill expectations as well, as he'll more than likely be a 3-4 year player.

I think it was a little more nuanced; we had space for both before diving into the portal. There were red flags about his character (and his dad's, which is indicative of the times) prior to that, though. He, Moore and Rowe all kinda seemed out of place coming from old money/upper class suburbs. Not our type of recruit.

Moore hasn't seemed like a brat, to his credit, and was vetted by Berry through a personal connection of some sort, his dad may have played with Berry?
