Smoggy
How about the boos that Kupchella recieved from the fans when Bruce McCloud mentioned his name?
sioux fan in phoenix
These guys are just plain the best. That's the right attitude to have. Sharing's a nice concept but not when it comes to the MacNaughton!
UMDDogz
How about the boos that Kupchella recieved from the fans when Bruce McCloud mentioned his name? He deserves it. He didn't do anything to help the Sioux win the title...he doesn't deserve to have his name mentioned.
Smoggy
Tech owns the Cup. If they leave the WCHA, they take it with them. I'm assuming that the CCHA has their own trophy. At some point, I can see Mich Tech going back to that league (flip flop with Omaha). Would they sell the Mac to the WCHA? Store it? Or would the CCHA start using it? sioux fan in phoenix
So the MacNaughton is NOT like the Stanley Cup? Every year a team gets a new one?
sioux fan in phoenix
Sounds like Zach's getting mugged by a bunch of 7 y/os.
Schmitzzz
I think if Tech went to the CCHA the CCHA would start using it... it's the most prestigious award in college hockey.
sioux9
What's going on with Dean's family that Tim is talking about? Well we all know about his daughters sickness which she has seemed to overcome, but I hope I am wrong on this.......does his wife have a disease as well? God I hope not. I would think that the WCHA has legal rights to the MacNaughton Cup; besides, it wouldn't make sense for 2 conferences to play for the same-named trophy. Schmitzzz
The WCHA and CCHA wouldn't both use it. If the WCHA couldn't convince Tech to leave it behind the WCHA would have to find something else. This came up several years ago when there was speculation that Tech would leave after Northern bolted for the CCHA.

Just because Tech has a cup from 20+ years ago the WCHA would have to find a different one if Tech bolts???
dagies
I believe the Cup belongs to Tech. They can take their Cup and go home if they want to.
Schmitzzz
I believe the Cup belongs to Tech. They can take their Cup and go home if they want to. Correct. They took it to the CCHA when the left the WCHA in 1981 and brought it back in 1984 when they rejoined the WCHA. The WCHA does not own the cup... it belongs to Tech. UMDDogz
Then we would win the McLeod trophy!!

The WCHA does not own the cup... it belongs to Tech. Hey, Schmitzzz My point was that the WCHA would still be entitled to award the MacNaughton in future years even if Tech were to leave. I believe Michigan won a few MacNaughtons while in the WCHA & I don't see the CCHA awarding the MacNaughton Cup now. I think we're on completely different wavelengths on this issue. Anyway, important thing is the Sioux won tonight.
MinnesotaNorthStar
The McNaughton Cup goes to the winner of Michigan Tech's conference. That is all.

NorthDakotaHockey
As long as we are on this topic, anyone have the history on who McNaughton was, and why the ties are especially close to the crumbling wreck over at Michigan Tech? I think that arena is named after a guy named John McGinnis or something.
CoteauRinkRat
That was a great win for the boys last night, with a lot riding on the series, they came out and took control of the game in the 2nd period. I hope they come out and play well tonight, because they haven't won the saturday night game at home in a while.

The best caoch to ever coach at Tech. Won them 3 national championships I believe...they haven't been the same since.
