ringneck28 Posted April 11, 2014 Posted April 11, 2014 After last nights game with Minnesota, it has become apparent that UND and Minnesota need to make this a yearly happening. Minnesota has its yearly tourney with Duluth, SCSU, Mankato and Bemidji. We all saw what kind of a flop that it was as far as attendance in the non Minnesota games. I think I may have an idea and I believe it would be a success. Let's get a tournement with Minnesota, Wisconsin , UND and Denver. Call it the old boys tournement because it is getting together 4 of the powerhouse programs from the old wcha. Host it in Minneapolis and Denver rotating or just Minneapolis. This would accomplish a few things, getting the old rivalry back together every year and also establish strength of schedule . I know this is a N.D. Fan proposing a yearly, but wow, with the last weeks buildup, how could this not work. Now if the powers that be could just see it the same way. What are all your thoughts on this proposal? Quote
franchise Posted April 11, 2014 Posted April 11, 2014 That would be pretty awesome! I would be good with some sort of Big Ten vs NCHC Challenge too. Prior years top 2 finishers from each league face off. That would likely include MN and UND more often than not, but also allow for some huge games involving powers like Miami and Michigan as well. GO_FIGHTING_SIOUX_GO Posted April 11, 2014 Posted April 11, 2014 I like this idea pure awesomeness Quote
ringneck28 Posted April 12, 2014 Author Posted April 12, 2014 The way I look at it, this is a way to keep a rivalry going with Minnesota and Wisconsin in one weekend. You keep games open and make bragging rights for the year possible Quote
cberkas Posted April 12, 2014 Posted April 12, 2014 This is what Minnesota and Wisconsin did with Michigan and Michigan State every year. Quote
ringneck28 Posted April 12, 2014 Author Posted April 12, 2014 I would think it would be fun. How many games is the bean pot? Maybe fashion it after that tournament. I guarantee full arena for this. Quote

70'sguy Posted April 12, 2014 Posted April 12, 2014 Great idea gives me another reason to go to Denver Or Minneapolis. Now if you can sell it to the powers that be we will be in business. Quote
ringneck28 Posted April 12, 2014 Author Posted April 12, 2014 Well, I don't know who those powers would be, but I figure that some of them actually see this site. Let's make it a point to get the idea to the upper powers. Quote
nodakvindy Posted April 16, 2014 Posted April 16, 2014 I'd love to see this and just rotate it between the four schools home rinks. That way UND could host in both Grand Forks and Denver. Seriously though, I like the idea of it being on campus just for fairness and it keeps the students in play usually creating a better atmosphere. Definitely wouldn't be down with it always in the Cities, although a Denver/Cities rotation would be fine. 1 Quote

I am sure DU and UND would be game, possibly Wisconsin, I just can't see Minn signing up for it. Quote

They'd rather set up another kickoff/holiday tourney hosted at Mary-oochi... Quote
