Blizzard strikes Northern Red River Valley

Blizzard Warning was extended to the Southern Valley after I posted this. Travel at your own risk.

I-94 was closed from Valley City to Jamestown due to several accidents. There was a 5 or 6 car fender bender at 19th Ave N (my usual route to and from work) near Hector Airport this morning. Roads are horrible and its supposed to be this way until tomorrow.

On second thought although vis is alright. The plows aren't out so if you don't have four wheel you might get stuck.

Nobody waits longer than Grand Forks to send the plows out - just went for groceries - roads are passible but crappy. Would it kill them to plow a little.

I think Grand Forks did a superb job after the 2009 Christmas storm (26 inches). The storm started Thursday night and was over by Saturday night; by Sunday you could get around town pretty good.

Not saying they don't work hard or do a good job of clearing things out - their policy seems to be to wait until every flake has fallen until they start to plow - once they start, they're great, but sometimes I wish they would do some plowing earlier
